Have had house up for sale for the last year and when our buyer dropped out 2 weeks ago we were devastated, but it turns out it was for the best. Two days later had another offer on house for MORE money, couldn't believe our luck!! Had best 30th birthday present ever - booked flights to Perth end of last week for 23rd July. Flying with Singapore airlines who also do a great deal for stopping over in Singapore. ( an extra £300 for 4 of us to stay for 3 nights including hotel, transfers, and free admission into load of attractions). We have also booked six weeks accomodation for our arrival in Perth. All of a sudden everything seems to be coming together. Just wanted to wish everyone who is still waiting for visas, or waiting for house to sell lots of luck. There were many times over the past 2 years when I could have chucked it all in, but so glad we didn't! The feeling you get when you book the flights is amazing, not to be missed!! Fingers crossed for everyone waiting Emma x

I know you are all probably aware, but just in case, like me, I have just remembered. I believe it is from 1am Sunday morning they go forward but I will change them when I go to bed. We lose a whole hour's sleep. Does that mean that Perth will be 8 hours ahead instead of 9? Claire

Hi All - We are a family of 5, have been in Oz for some nine months and its been painful for us. The visa (457) was easy peasy as I am a nurse, the flight over reasonably priced, found a house to rent and the rest of the family arrived (OH and two other children). Two weeks later it all started - I had to have major dental work on a tooth which subsequently came out, then a month later the second tooth went. My 40th I spent in bed with the flu and miserable. In September I had emergency surgery and have not been well since. My job soured late in the year and changed roles. In January - rushed into hospital again - appendix and subsequently CTand MRI's revealed more problems. Two weeks ago, the house we are renting in is up for sale! Throughout this period of sending money back to the UK for our home over there - its been for sale for a year! Medical bills coming out of our ears, the school screaming for money (state schools) and I have no more holiday or sickness left, we are nearly destitute. I am working every day now and have joined an agency. Is there some conspirancy somewhere? What else can we do..... We are resolved we are staying but I just wanted to vent:arghh: Thank you everyone for listening...

Hi Everybody Haven't been able to log on for a week so having serious withdrawal symptoms !! Logged on to my computer at work on Tuesday and after checking everyday for nearly 3 months, we finally have a case officer. Police checks were then requested by us that day, medicals are booked for this coming Tuesday and the house went on the market today !! OMG !! Even found a home for the cats, they are going on the 20th. I'm sure you'll all know how we are feeling. Can't think of anything else. In my heart, I would love to be in Melbourne for January. Keeping my fingers crossed. Joanne X :biglaugh:
