    Mines / FIFO

Gosh, am I really writing this ?? Thinking of doing a pong back to OZ. Trying to explore the possibility of working in the mines. I am an electrician on the very wrong side of 30. Any pointers, advise, experiences?? Is it at all possible to secure a job from the U.K or best to start the search/process while over in OZ ?
  3. Hi, i recently emigrated to perth with my family, does anyone know of companies taking on mechanical engineers? i have posted cv on most big companies i know and gone through a few agencies but theres not a lot around at the minute apparently. I am degree qualified with several years experience and in the process of becoming chartered (already assessed by engineers australia), i have experience in working on projects and using reliability engineering techniques. I am willing to FIFO if required. My previous role was supervisory so also have experience in contract management. any help or contacts would be greatly appreciated!! Mike
  4. Hi We emigrated nearly three years ago and are up on the Sunshine Coast. My husband is an Electrician and he is now really struggling for work. He is happy to work on a FIFO project anywhere, does anyone have any fingers in pies (so to speak) contacts etc he has an A Grade licence and just applied for a WA licence (4 weeks processing time). He worked on the Clem 7 until completion and has a number of cert to his name, he is also in the process of starting a PV licence but so skint cant afford the book required.....oh well Anyway i thought i would ask the question, if anyone has any ideas or contacts we would greatly appreciate it........desperate times desperate measures...... 5. One of our lads is up the mines at Murin Murin; he is after recruiting a Sous Chef whatever one of them is?.................and also a Gardener. Sous chef would start at around $70,000 per annum 2 weeks on 1 week off fly in fly out. Gardener starts at $54,000 or thereabouts per annum; also does a 2 week on 1 week off roster. All flights, food and accommodation are all paid for so it's a chance to save some money despite the wages not being too flash............. but at least it's a start and a chance to get a foot in the door. My lad went up there just over a year ago as a labourer. His duties entailed driving the dustbin truck, driving the bus to and from the airport, slopping out in the kitchen, cleaning toilets etc. Apparently they picked up on the potential he showed and he is now a manager running the catering/accommodation side of things. If there are any takers for either position PM me your details and I will forward them on to him. He does the inductions every fortnight. Johnno

    Fifo

We live in England at the moment but would love to come to Australia, we are 5 points short to come on our own but my husband has just been offered a FIFO job in Perth. The company has asked us to think long and hard about accepting as I will have no support network when we first come over( have two children 10 and 7) . Anybody got any advice for us before we make trhis decision. Thanks in advance Soolin
