Hi All, We would like to introduce ourselves to the site. We are Nathan, Mandie, Jordan (9) and Zach (7) hoping to emigrate to Melbourne. Nathan is a Toolmaker and we hope to get to OZ through the skilled visa. We had his TRA approved in April and sent off our main application in May and no news apart from the acknowledgement letter. Now its just Wait, Wait, Wait!! Love to hear from anyone in similar situation. By the way, We are from Portsmouth. Mandie

  3. I'm looking for a Sydney-based family to appear live on Thursday afternoon Sydney-time (Thursday morning UK time) in studio for a interview to be broadcast into the UK. This popular UK morning show is doing a story on families who've moved Down Under. The story follows the Foreign Office report that some 4.5 million UK passport holders live abroad. Can you please send me a PM if you're interested in appearing and I'll send you the details? The questions will be - mainly why, how and was it difficult? Is your quality of life really better? Do you miss the UK? If so, what do you miss? What don't you miss? Please respond ASAP. Thanks!

Just to let you all know that we have had a phonecall from my sister tonight to tell us the good news that they had been awarded their visas to emigrate out to Oz. From sending the application form after getting the skills assessment passed it has taken a total of 6 months. They sent the police check only 10 days ago. So it was really quick. Brother in Law is MODL so maybe why it has been so quick. My brother and his family also got theirs too and was about the same timeframe although it was 6 weeks after sending the medicals and police checks that they received their visas. Hope this info helps a lot of you. Dont give up hope. We are all so excited as you can imagine, it will be so nice to have family around us. They are all excited but also nervous which is normal. Just told our 15 year old son the latest news and asked him his thoughts on if he felt they would all settle ok. He quoted, "Why wouldnt they? It is a better life for the kids out here. (3 children coming in total, ages 8, 7 and 5) Great weather and lifestyle. We have been here 2 and a half years now and he is so happy out here. Wishing everybody all the very best in their applications and just to let you know that really the process is pretty straight forward, although at the time it does feel daunting. It does feel like your life is on hold until you get that visa. Cheers for now Pozzy 8)
  5. Hi guys. We`ve disscussed this in length and have decided to emigrate to the Australia. My wifes a nurse and i am a ROV technician on diving vessels for the oil and gas sector. We have four children the oldest is 10. This emmigration procedure is quite complicated so i was wondering if there is any advice you guys can tell us what we need to do from start the ball rolling. I have tried to points calculator for us and we get in on my wifes occupation alone. So where do we go from here. Apply for a visa !! Where is the offshore industry situated?? These are the questions i hope to aquire from you guys. But if there is any help you can give i would mostly appreciate it regards Andy
  6. Hi all im about to move to brisbane on a 457 visa however I intend to eventually immigrate fully. Once I do I have a brother who would like to join me Is this possible or as easy as it sounds? had a look thru the Au website but doesnt really make it clear if all he needs to be is my brother ! any help would be appreciated thanks all
  7. Hi I'm new in here but please bear with me! We unsure what visa to go for; my wife has a brother with citizenship already living in Sydney; she also has another brother who has been granted a visa and will be moving down there soon. Their mother still lives here but would probably move down - but only if we did. I've worked in management all my life and although I'm not at Chief Exec level I am on the board and have lots of experience working at that level and ran my own leadership training company for 4 years. The question is do we go for a family sponsored visa; do we qualify for it? If we don't and go for a work visa which type of management visa is the best to go for, there seem to be many of them (management consultant, general manager, business and information professional, etc) and all can be a little vague. Any ideas would be welcome; thanks!

    Balance of Family Test

Our agent has advised us to apply for a contributory parent visa but we feel we may fail the balance of family test. we were married Jul 05. My wife has two children age 20 & 22 and both born is Aus. The oldest child lives in Aus and the younger child lives in the UK. I have two children aged 19 & 21. Our agent says that my children are not counted for the test because they were over 18 at the time of our marriage. Does anyone have any experience of this ? :?

    family issues

Hi I'm going through the process of applying for sponsorship. It does seem to be a superb deal, flights, shipping, kids schooling & medical bills taken care of, tax relief on certain things and 12 weeks initial accomodation. I'll be tied to the company for 2 years but at the moment I have no intention of coming back, I want to make a real go of it for both me and my family. Why then is my mother -in -law  trying to emotionally blackmail my wife into staying. Has anyone had a similar experience? I don't want to resort to open war fare, but if I sit down and explain the 'once in a lifetime' nature of this chance we've been given she pretends I don't exist. Any advice?? Or should we just sneak off and send her a post card?

    sponsoring family?

I am just awaiting for a final decision on my visa BN 136 skilled independant. I am going with my husband but we have no other family in OZ so it will be a real challenge! I know it will be fine when we get there but it will be hard to leave. Any way I was wondering whether you can sponsor family members to come over if so what are the rules? Thanks in advance
