    repeat use of eta visa

repeat use of eta visa i went to australia 15th october til 23rd december 08 to visit my fiance on an eta visa. i am going back in 3 weeks, so can be there for valentines day with him, also there for his birthday and to book a marriage celebrant for our wedding in december. when i come back on 18th march 09 i am going to hand in my apllication for a prospective marriage visa. i am very worried that immigration are going to refuse me entry as am going back over ther so soon, surley im not doing anything wrong, by going to see my parntner and sort out arrangements for our wedding, i will also be taking over some of my belongings to help me so when and if immi let me move over there to be with my shaney it helps me. im terrified that they will take it the wrong way. also i was on a working holiday visa from ja 06 til jan 08, thats how i met my man. also when i flew into perth in october i got stopped just casually and he wasnt horrible and said that i couldnt keep coming over on a tourist visa(it made me so mad) that was my first time on an eta. but isnt this what they are designed for? ahhhrrr any advice greatly needed thankyou :arghh: nadine

  5. Hi My partner and I have been living together for 12 months, he was on a 457 work visa. He is British and I am Australian citizen. However, in the first five weeks when he moved here to live with me in Sydney, he was on a 3-month Business ETA. He was granted a 457 work visa 5 weeks after arrival as he was able to secure a job offer/employer sponsor during the first 5 weeks. Can this first 5 weeks of him being here on Business ETA (albeit living with me) count towards the 12-month timeframe required for de-facto spouse visa application? Or do we have to start the counting of the 12 months from the date he was granted the 457 work visa? Thanks.
  6. Hi everyone, not posted for a while but we are about to book our flights to oz WA for our reccie in late May early June(as soon as the credit card arrives). Just wondered what the costs are latley for ETA's. We are so excited and can't wait, we've been looking at hotels, holiday homes etc, picked places we can afford to stay but can't do anything until that darn credit card arrives. We've been saving since may this year but feel booking with a credit card will give us a little security(we hope)due to current climate. We've got a great aunt who lives in Shoal water Bay who we will visit while we are there then we'll drive down to Bunbury, we like the sound of the threads people have wrote about Bunbry might be a place we could live(we'll see) well thanks in advance to all and If I do not post before christmas everybody ahve a good one and hope all your dreams come true. ETA initially..??

hi everybody, can anyone tell me if this scenario is at all possible: myself and my girlfriend go out to oz on holiday (eta visa) and while we were out there if we were to be offered work, could we start an application for a permanent visa under general skilled migration...? or if we were to be offered work is there a way of staying?
  8. Hey has anyone out there entered oz on anETA tourist visa initially? I am arriving in mid January and have only just applied for 457 sponsership visa. I am worried this will not come through in time. So I am thinking about first entering oz on a457. I however only have a one way flight to oz. Any advice! Amy x
  9. Would i be able to do voluntary work on a ETA visa? I know i cant work for money but i was wondering about unpaid? Im going to be in Perth for three months and as Hubby will be working i thought i could do something useful with my spare time. Any ideas as to where i could look for this type of work? Idealy i would like to work in a hospital in an admin role as i work for the NHS now but i understand the restrictions due to patient level info etc. My other idea was to volunteer at the zoo? Anywhere really im open to ideas!! Any help would be fantatsic! Emma x
  10. Hi I am currently in the uk, have been back from Oz since january at the end of my 6 month tourist visa. I have left my fiancee and her 2 young children there and am struggling at the minute missing them. We are about 6 to 8 weeks away from being in a position to submit our prospective marriage visa to australia house in London. During a couple of my OH's many phonecalls with DIAC in Oz they advised her that i could come back on an ETA for 3 months, get married and apply straight away for the spouse visa on shore. I would then be granted a bridging visa while the decision would be made. The obvious drawback is that whilst the decision would be made i could not work, and of course the spouse visa application could be refused. I am really torn at the minute, missing them so much and in the back of my mind worrying myself crazy that if the PMV application is refused I might never see them again. So i am seriously considering applying for the ETA and heading home to my family before the end of September 2008. Whilst i'm not asking anyone what i should do, i would appreciate other peoples input.

    How long for ETA visa?

Hiya, We want to book flights last minute as we won't know if we can fully afford the trip (for 2 week reccie) untill a week or so before hand. But i wondered how long it takes for the ETA visa to be authorised? Also how does it work exactly - does it get put on your passport at the airport? Meg x
  12. Hi all Thought of going for a holiday sometime in June/July. Put in application for 175 in January. Read previous postings before that any subsequent visa applied and approved will cancel the previous application. Need expert advice whether applying for and going to OZ for holiday with ETA will affect 175 visa grant? And do we need to notify ASPC? (no CO assigned yet, who should we notify) Thanks and hope someone will reply ... really wanna go for a short holiday break. Hydeteru

    ETA referral

Hi there, My husband recieved an email back from the australian embassy in london today to say he has now been granted an eta to visit australia. He did not intially get accepted as he has an irish passport. Anyway on the email back, it states that you will not be permitted to enter austalia if you have criminal convictions. Well my husband 15 years ago got arrested for abh. Does this count as a conviction and should i contact the embassy, or as the ETA has now been accepted am i just being over paranoid. many thanks to those who can help, stacy

    ETA number

Hi guys, Another dilemma, on the application form it asks for past visa numbers that we have used. We visited Au 3 years ago and had a 3month visa, we have no idea where the piece of paper went...... Has anyone got any ideas of what we should do for this part. Cheers Rache76
