Don't mean to sound too cynical::radar: But what value does the TRA have (other than a number which means something to someone on your Visa Ap?) once you are looking for work Down Under?? We know it is NOT a qualification, so precisely what's it point? It causes all kinds of consternation & worry to get, & everyone is overjoyed when they are successfully assessed, so they can joyfully proceed to the actual Visa Application process! However,when you get Down Under does it mean anything to a prospective Auzzie Employer? Can anyone with experience of finding a job in their Trade Assessed skills field (or not), let us know how the procedures work? I gained my electronics qualification & much experience through the Military & defense work, but will I need some kind of license to continue in this filed in SA or Tassie, + what all's involved in that? And if I decided to go for something completely differently, even though I have great & varied skills, would I be taken seriously? I'm sure this question has been asked hundreds of times, but we're quite new to this & can't help wondering, that if there are 2 people after the same job, would the employer go for the Aussie or the Best Person for The Job??? Hi We are nearing the end of Hubby's TRA application and have a quick question. We are doing the form ourselves so have no help/advice from an agent. Hubby is a motor mechanic (only worked for 1 company) and we have listed approx 25 jobs and detailed them down to every last turn of the socket!! and have also included at the end of each description a list of the tools used. (Tried to give a good overall selection) The question is, does his employer also need to list the individual jobs that OH has completed. He is going to confirm that he is an asset to company, confirm qualifications blah blah but does he also need to confirm the list of jobs capable of. If he does, then OH says letter will be pages long and at the end of the day, his friend who went to Oz as a mechanic didn't have to do it. What do I do? Any help offered is very much appreciated - Joanne
