    cost of living in adelaide

hi all i no u guys get this question all the time but how much is the the basic salary for a male working? we are planning on moving feb 2012 my partner has PR visa so me and our two young kids aged 4 and 1 yrs are applyin for immigration in oz, we will be moving to adelaide thinking the seaford area. We are trying to get some kind of idea of wages and living costs as to start with it will only be one wage coming in, we have been looking at rented houses around the 300-350 price range as this seems to be the price rage but not to sure about bills i'e electric gas water council rates. Food bills we have been looking and found a few places at good prices think it'll be around the $150-$200 we hope lol any feed back from familys in the adelaide area would be great just to give us some sort of idea thanx :wubclub::wubclub:

pregnancy care and birthing cost etc.

can anyone tell me the cost that i might have if i was to give birth in Oz, my hubby and i may be moving over for a 6 month period initially during which time i would be giving birth to my second child. I dont know if i will be eligiable for medicare and was wondering how expensive it would work out to be. I have looked at the medicare site but it doesnt say much about birthing costs, antenatal and post natal care. Any information would be gratefully received as it may be that this is a deciding factor in whether we go over or not.

    Cost of Living in Mackay

Hello, I am looking for some advice regarding the cost of living in Mackay area within Queensland. I have been offered a job with a salary of $75,000 and I would need to support myself and my girlfriend. My girlfriend will try and find a job but I just want to base my decision on a worst case-basis that she won't find a job. How comfortable do you think I could live on this salary? Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers, Stephen
  6. Hello everyone Deb and I are just about to apply for our state sponsorship with Victoria, then hopefully with the green light from that our visa will be lodged. For quite a few weeks now we have been researching the cost of living in Victoria, if all goes to plan we are looking at the Geelong or Werribee area. Anyway can anyone point us in the right direction for trying to get accurate figures of average wages in Oz. I'm an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (not licensed) and I found one site that mentions the average wage for my trade and when I took the lowest band they stated (45,000 AUD) then considering the outgoings. Considrations were: Lowest estimate for salary was 45.000 AUD = 3750 AUD per month (Gross) Income tax & medicare 731 AUD per month Rent 1200 AUD per month Healthinsurance 250 AUD per month Car,tax, insurance and petrol 200 AUD per month Internet 80 AUD per month Grocery 400 AUD per month Utility bills 120 AUD per month Phone and mobile 140 AUD per month Eating out 400 AUD per month Sundries 400 AUD per month Total= 3921 AUD per month These are the figures we come up with and obviously the salary does not cover it, this does not include savings either. Can any one tell me if I'm over budgeting too much or these figures are accurate. If we are overbudgeting can anyone point us in the right direction to get accurate figures to calculate your average wages and outgoings, as we are finding alot of conflicting information. I appreciate that everyones standard of living will be different but I'm just after all considerations for outgoings and accurate average costs. Any advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks Ian & Deb

    Salaries & Cost of Living

I am considering moving to Oz with my wife and 2 young children (5 & 7) in the next 2 years and whilst I would move tomorrow given the chance it is not the same for my wife as she will find it very hard leaving her elderly parents. I am now 37 and my wife's parents are only getting older and therefore the optimum time to move seems to be now. We are drawing up a list of pros and cons and one area I need help on is comparing the cost of living to demonstrate that we could achieve a comfortable living if we moved. I am looking at comparing the cost of living between the UK and OZ and therefore could someone advise what salary (gross income) I would need in order to have a 'comfortable' living in Oz. We would look at needing a 4 bed house in a decent surburb (ideally near coast) offering good schools and transport links to the CBD. We currently have a comfortable life in the UK with both of myself and wife working however if we decided to move I would not expect my wife to work initially and then only part time. I am a qualified management accountant with over 5 years at a senior level. Many thanks.

    Cost of babysitter?

Hello, We are new to Sydney, Berowra and I have read that teenage babysitters usually charge $15 - $20 per hour. I recently contacted a young girl (aged 14) who placed an ad at our local supermarket. I asked her how much she charged and she didnt know what to say. She said she would ask her mom how much she should charge. It seems she is too shy to say outright what she wants. Anyway, I personally reckon $15 - $20 per hour to be outrageous so I think I am going to offer her $10. Considering my kids are in bed by 7pm all she has to do is watch telly. In the UK I paid my neighbours teenage daugher £5 per hour and she was more than grateful. Its easy money. Would I be cheeky offering $10 here in Oz? I just dont know whats the norm. Thanks Melanie

    Cost of Medicals?

Has anyone had a medical done in Maidenhead recently? How much did it cost? Also my 3 year old needs one too, has anyone experienced this? From reading other threads I don't think she will need all the blood tests and x-ray, if you have, how much did that cost? Trying to spread the cost! Thanks in advance!

    Would I be eligible?

Hi folks, I am just looking for some advice really. I have just finished a 4 year uni course where I gained a BA hons in psychology. I have work experience working with people with special needs but would like to come to Oz to work as a psychology assistant and maybe continue my studies to gain my PhD and continue my career as a psychologist. I have relatives in Perth and have sat a mock visa questionnaire to find out if we had enough points to come over, the we being my wife and daughter. Apparently I have enough points, my question for now is, how accurate are these questionnaires? It was from the migration expert website if that makes a difference. I have always wanted to move to Oz as there is no prospects for my daughter here. I would also be grateful for advice on where to look for employers, if any, who may sponser. I apologise if I sound as if Im rambling, my head if full of web pages and information overload lol. And then I found this site that may be able to steer me in the right direction instead of me going around in circles Thank you in advance for any advice at all. As you may already have worked out, I am just starting on this journey that hopefully will end up with me in Oz Gary

  22. Can you please tell me how much it all costs from start to finish? Also what are the stages, there is so much information the mind gets a bit fuzzy sometimes! I think we FREE - Go to the Tradeset website and enter in all our details $ ?? - Got to Vetasses and enter all your details for assesment and pay some money $ ?? - Vetasses contact us for a skills assesment - pay some more money $ ?? - Pass or fail vetasses, pass hopefully, and more money? $ ?? - Apply for visa and wait for a year or two! Loads more money! The money is what it is, am just not sure how much it is, looks like a small fortune! Also, can a plumber apply under gas fitter for TRA and ignore the vetasses stuff or does it depend on what it says on your NVQ certificate? Also for the skills we need client letters stating work we have caried out (on letter headed paper? - how can a client have letter headed paper, or do we give the client our letter heads?) Any help much appreciated. Thank you.
