  5. Hi, Just wondering if anyone can recommend some good firms for sending over a few bits and pieces to Sydney. A couple of small boxes of stuff - nothing urgent. Don't mind shipping them over even if it takes a few weeks. Need to do it as cheap as possible as well - but will pay for reliability. Does anyone know how much this might cost as well? Many Thanks David
  6. A new generation of 10-pound Poms has snapped up bargain airfares to Australia in less than an hour. A total of 150 one-way tickets to Australia went on sale for just STG10 ($A20) on a first-come, first-served basis on Wednesday, prompting queues of backpackers for days and selling out in 50 minutes..

    Cheap holiday in OZ

Hi folks, We are thinking of going on holiday in Oz at the end of July. Probably not the best time in Victoria but it needs to be cheap and cheerful for a week. we've been to southern queensland/gold coast/sunshine coast but not out of Melbourne since we got here. I need some warmth again!!! Any ideas?
  15. We are breaking our lease due to needing a 4 bedroom. It is on a really nice complex in VARSITY LAKES it has 3 bedrooms which are all big enough for a double bed, main bedroom is very spacious and has a W.I.R and ensuite, lounge/dining area (we went to see quite a few here before choosing this one and this was the biggest 3 bedroom we had seen), stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, SLUG, patio area with small garden area and a lovely shared pool! It is in the catchment area for the best state school on the Gold Coast, Varsity College and walking distance to shops, restaurants (2 mins down the road)! The rent is only $375 a week, which is one of the cheapest around here. We are hoping to be out by the end of May or sooner if needed! If interested please pm me and leave your number and I will get back to you. Thanks Wendy :wubclub:

    cheap calls uk - oz?

Does anyone know of a cheap way to call from the UK to Oz, apart from Skype? Like ozcall, in reverse. My family had been using one they got of Martin Lewis' website, but it has stopped working. Apparently several other of the net are not working great either, so if anyone knows of a good reliable one, that would be great. Cheers Sheena

Does anyone have any recommendations of where to go...how to travel..where to stay etc, on a tight budget? Not bothered about posh accomadation just keen to spread our wings a bit and see a bit of the rest of WA. Would it be best to hire a camper van? Or maybe stay in a caravan park? 20. Hi Folks, If anyone out there is looking to travel to the UK soon a major airline has just sent me a press release with details of some special fares. As I am in a commercial arrangement with the airline I will not advertise them here however if you PM me I will forward the email to you and you can book directly with them-I will not be charging a commission on these bookings as I don't feel comfortable taking advantage of PIO.

  22. We are flying to Oz tomorrow for our 2 week recce/validation trip, & will need to make several local (& by that I mean, within Australia) phone calls whilst we are there. We're not 100% sure if our phones are unlocked (but we are with Virgin so could maybe buy an Oz Virgin SIM card when we arrive? Does anyone know if this would work?) If we want to just buy a SIM card, can anyone recommend good/cheap shops, that stock SIMs,or we could buy a cheap phone/package - where is best place to go? OR - is there a calling card we can buy that can be used? (not sure how practical this would be as we are travelling around a lot & where would you use such a card?) All suggestions/help gratefully received - but be quick, this time tomorrow we'll be on our way - YEH! Kath

    Cheap Flights

Australia/NZ rtn flights from £499 Ends 5 Apr 09 What's the deal? Malaysia Airlines is running a seat sale, with return flights to Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland starting at a super-low £499, in taxes & charges (the next cheapest is c. £600). Flights depart from London Heathrow between 1 April and 15 July 09. There is still good availability at the moment, but the sale ends this Sunday 5 April, so go quick. How to find'em The flights are available direct through Malaysia Airlines, but for a more advanced search you can use screenscraper Kayak. Enter your trip details and it’ll zip them to scores of normal airlines, including Malaysia Airlines, to find the cheapest. If you don’t mind when you fly, there’s a quick way to get an idea which dates are available. On the Kayak homepage, enter London to Sydney (or the whichever destination you're looking for). A box of ‘best fares’ should then appear on the right hand side. If you flick through the months, it should be clear which dates have £499 flights. Just search for a flight leaving on that date, and hopefully the cheap fare will still be available Hope this is helpful to someone
  24. Hi folks, Been a while since i posted on here but im looking for some advice about my situation which is - I applied for a 175 visa in september (modl painter and decorator) and my girlfriend has enroled on a college course which starts in july with a student visa . In January i applied for WA state sponsorship but as yet have heard nothing , i called the office yesterday and was told they are snowed under with applications and are proccessing Decembers at present . I think its a very real possibility that my visa will not be sorted by the time my girlfriends course starts so im looking at getting a 6 months tourist visa whilst the other one is being proccessed ! Is this no problem ? Also as i may not be working for 6 months or so does anyone have any tips for surviving on a budget of about 200 gbps per week after buying transport ? Have thought about buying a cheap campervan to live in for 1500 gbp , giving up fags and booze and spending the six months reading, keeping fit and hitting the beach thanks for reading jac
  25. I am in the process of researching our phone/broadband etc etc for our house in Oz and whilst some of the packages provided by Telstra and others are quite good when it comes to International calls, I was wondering if anyone uses an independent provider for cheap calls back to the UK? Ideally want a company that provides good quality calls (eg no drop-outs, echo's etc) at a good price. We will use Skype alot of the time, but if we are by the pool, or somewhere it isn't feasible to have a PC nearby, would like it set up so we can make a call back to the UK. Any advice appreciated Shell
