  1. .......in the minds of family and friends back in the UK? For example, emails... There was a time when I'd take ages to reply to emails from friends etc, basically cos I was lazy and disorganised. Nowadays I'm at the other extreme, if friends email me from the UK, I reply almost immediately and then wait up to 2 or 3 weeks for a one line reply! Yesterday I sent a very lengthy email to all my family with pics. So far, no response. For example, Facebook.... I joined this intially with the aim of keeping my family up to date with photos etc of our kids. After 3 years of minimal or no feedback from them to all the photos I've shared, I've pretty much given up. For example, phonecalls.... I think I could count on the fingers of one hand the number of phonecalls I've had with my brother, likewise my sister and best mates. I suspect I'm not alone in this. It honestly feels like they've 'moved on'. Anyone else feel like this?

  3. The DIAC refund the VAC for invalid applications and ceased applications. Acceptance of a 'cap and cease' VAC refund offer would constitute a withdrawal of the visa application and would create an estoppel. Affected parties might want to Consult a Top Gun migration lawyer. The Ombudsman (paper tiger) has no powers and can only make suggestions. If an issue has not attracted the attention of the press, as in: deporting Australian citizens, imprisoning permanent residents of Asian appearance and children, there are unlikely to be any suggestions to the DIAC. The Ombudsman can do nothing about a ministerial decision, notwithstanding that the minister is not mentioned in a complaint.

  6. Capping and ceasing of specified offshore GSM applications lodged before 1 September 2007 – 1 July 2010 On 8 February 2010, the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Senator Chris Evans, announced that applications for certain offshore skilled migration visas made before 1 September 2007 would be capped and ceased. The Minister has now set the maximum number of visas that can be granted for the specified visa classes in the 2009-10 financial year. As the cap has now been reached, applications subject to the capping decision have now ceased. As part of this process the relevant Visa Application Charge(s) will be returned to the applicant and information about the method of repayment will be available on this website shortly. The following visa subclasses have been affected by this arrangement. Skill Matching (Subclass 134) Skilled – Independent (Subclass 136) Skilled – State/Territory-Nominated Independent (Subclass 137) Skilled – Australian Sponsored (Subclass 138) Skilled – Designated Area Sponsored (Subclass 139). 7. Hi All Just had a letter today from our agents to say they have ceased trading They have sent us a form (956) to send off to ensure we get all correspondence sent to us. No information exactly where to send it to or what I need to do for the next stages (visa application has been lodged) I kind of feel like just giving up now, we have been gong through this for over 2 years, cant sell the house and have faced knock back after knock back. Ideally I would just like my money back and to restart my life here but dont think thats likely is it? Any advice anyone?
  8. Anyone has any idea the possibility that welfare worker would be capped and ceased as rumour about cooks and hairdressers?

    Processing ceased

Hi PIO readers, I have just spoken with an officer at DIAC and was informed that processing has again ceased for applications not on the CSL. I haven't seen any evidence on PIO to support this, I was under the impression that CAT5's are being processed at the moment. Does anyone know any different to having to wait another 3 years? Best wishes, gmac
  10. Has anyone heard, or is there a thread I cannot find relating to the company *********** **** I have just found out that they have possibly gone bankrupt. We were in the process of applying for student visa plus family, which we put on hold due to house sale falling through. We have paid up front for all services here and in Oz after 2 years of study plus work experience. Our parents also paid up front for visas to join their son. We did pay by credit card. Not sure how to get info or start some proceedings. Thanks for any help
