    Areas in/aroud Brisbane

Hi, For anybody out there i have a question relating to the listed areas, in essence are they good bad ugly etc. I'm mindful that this will be subjective from different people, but from not currently living there any guidance would be a start. Due to arrive in Feb and having problems trying to get a rental which allows cats and is either fully/part furnished. If no joy we may need to widen our search area. Any responses would be greatly welcome. Cheers. Cannon Hill Camp Hill Holland Park Mount Gravatt Belmont Any surroudning areas.

    Advice on areas and schools?

Hi everyone We are looking at moving out to Sydney. My OH has a business there (currently run by his partner) and, as I am not a city person at all, we are looking to live about an hours drive out of Sydney. We've got a trip planned at Easter 2008 to have a look around and try to find somewhere, but does anyone have any advice on how to narrow down the areas to look at? I am spending hours and hours google searching schools. I thought it might be best to find a school first (the kids are 14 annd 12) and then look at an area to live afterwards. But, I feel like I'm looking for the needle in the haystack! Any advice would be VERY welcome! Thanks for any help that anyone can give.

    Rental Areas - Please Help!!

Hello Like most of us here, I expect, we will be looking at short term renting when (and if!) we get to Australia. We hope to go to Brisbane (first choice) or Adelaide (second). Please can anyone tell me areas to avoid?? And which areas have schools that don't have such a good reputation? Also, I know that the SA Government does a "Meet and Greet" service for new migrants, including short term rentals, although I understand that whether you get a place on this is a bit hit-and-miss? Is there any sort of similar scheme in Brisbane/surrounding areas? Any comments gratefully received, Mrs Tyke.

    new to site areas.

We are new to site, posted a couple of times yesterday.I am Jo,my husband John, daughter Goergia, (9) and son Louie (7). We have not yet proceeded, but are looking at Perth. So many suburbs, can any of you experienced folks help us narrow down the search, mainly if there are any to avoid, if any!!!!! It all looks beautiful, good schools would be a huge factor in the decision, as I am sure it is to anyone with a family. Any tips would be appreciated.:jimlad:

  12. Hi Guys Does anyone know whether the demand for electricians is higher in any particular state(s) or is it a general skill shortage problem? Also, do salaries vary between states much? We are looking at Brisbane to settle, but that isn't definite. John isn't great with the heat (doh!) so the job opportunities will probably dictate where we go in the end. Thanks. Tracy :jimlad:
  13. Hi. Can anybody make suggestions on places to live in and around sydney. We are looking to rent - unfurnished. We have a labrador size dog and therefore need some where with outside space(house?) and near to dog friendly parks etc. My husband will be working just near the north sydney train station. We are 31 and 38 and want somewhere near to cafes ,restaurants etc as we are fairly social and an easy commute into the city. Also near to the beach would also be nice Not a lot to ask  (lol) On a visit looked around Manley,Balgowlah and Fairlight which seemed nice. Mosman was also recommended but did not get chance to visit. Any other suggestions welcome. My OH is there at present so he needs a nice list of places to visit !
  14. Hi, Hoping someone can help. It's likely that I'll be moving to Sydney and wanted to find out where's good to rent. The company I'll be working for is based in North Sydney and whilst the idea of walking to work is great, I'm keen to live in a lively area where it'll be easy to go out and meet people. Any suggestions for good areas? Thanks, Joycy
  15. We are in the initial stages of deciding to move to Oz, we are unsure of areas, though considering New south wales. Anyone have any advise on best areas for work and good schools. Also we want to go out in August if anyone knows where we can get a good price on flights that would be very helpful. Oh and hi to everyone as we are new comers on here marie

A few of the Vic Ones are given here... just in case they are of any use. For others, contact the local council where you want to go ...and ask....
