  1. Hi everyone just after some info on places to get fruit and veg from. Also any places for fish too that doesnt require a bank loan to buy some.We have been upto victoria market in the city but thats too far to travel every week.Surely there must be places similar around our area.Does anyone know of any fish markets where they sell the fish off the keyside when the boats come back in.
  2. Hi, Just joined as we have just started our application for state sponsored visa to Western Australia. Trying to get to grips with the different suburbs, and so far like the look of some of the areas around Lake Joondalup, was wondering if anyone knows if there are issues in getting childcare? By time we actually get out there we'd have 2 boys in school (they're currently 4 and 5), can anyone let me know what before / after school childcare there is available? Do any schools offer breakfast clubs or after school clubs? Thanks in advance for any help.
  3. Hi all. We have just recently got word that our PR has been granted and are now in the process of ironing out all of the finer details for the big move, which will be in January '12 (Perth area, WA) We will be trying to find rental accommodation which is within a reasonable commuting distance for both myself and my husband. I will be working in Joondalup, and my husband in Welshpool, so not an easy task ! We have been looking at the Darch area amongst others, and wonder if anyone can comment on the area, and also any surronding areas or suggest somewhere else that would suit us for working in the areas mentioned ? Also, my silly hubby lost his license for speeding on his motorbike, and has to resit his test before we come over. Will he be subject the the P plate rules as it is a new license, or will his 14 years of (clean!!) driving experience count, and should he be able to transfer straight to a full WA license ? Thanks for your help

Im now thinking i want to go home and its taken us alot of heartache and soul searching to get here. I dont want to worry OH about it i want to get on and grow as an individual. 6. We are a family with four adults and two children desperately trying to find some reasonably priced accommodation for end of march '12 for three weeks. Proving very difficult because of the size of our group and the houses to rent through stayz etc are proving to be quite expensive. Was quoted $6500 for one of them! Tried the big4 caravan park and that was extortionately basic. Ideally we would prefer an apartment or house with three bedrooms. Anywhere in Melbourne or suburbs. If anyone has any ideas I would be extremely grateful. I suppose I am looking for a cheap break equivalent to the haven caravan price of £250 a week for the six of us but just can't find anything cheap in Oz. We are going out to validate our visas and are on a very tight budget, but we want to entice our teenage daughters out there so don't want anything shoddy!!
  7. I'm a mum of three boys aged 9, 6 and 3, and I'd love to meet up with others to make new friends.
  8. Dear All, My lovely wife and I have been living in Sydney for the past three and a half years, renting in the suburb of Randwick. We’re permanent residents and we’re looking to buy within the next year. We’d love to live in Randwick, very central, not as pretentious as other areas in the Eastern Suburbs, but with the prices as they are, that simply isn’t practical financially. We’ve been focussing on the Sutherland area and the surrounds but would love to hear opinions regarding other family friendly areas in Sydney (we’re thinking long term, kids in a few years so we’d like to settle in a family friendly area). We’ve heard good things about the area, reasonable prices, good schools, and with a high-speed train that goes from Sutherland to the CBD, where we both work. We’re not restricting ourselves to solely this area. Thank you in advance for any replies or thoughts people have on this topic. Andy

Can anyone recommend a good primary school in the Gold Coast area preferably no more than half an hours drive from Helensvale. Many thanks.

    which suburb to choose?

My husband has just been offered an amazing opportunity in Oz so we are moving to Sydney at the beginning of Oct. I was last in Sydney 10 years ago, so have no idea of the best areas to live to ensure a good education for the kids (aged 3 and 5) - any advice is welcome. We need to be fairly close to the city centre within a 30 min commute if poss. Areas I know and like are Balmain, Paddington, Surry Hills, Glebe, Bronte, Bondi - does anyone have recommendations for primary schools within these areas? I'm also looking for an area with a community feel - do any of these tick the box? We have temporary accom on arrival but I'll need to be making enquiries before I head out to ensure the mnimum gap in my 5 year old's education so help is appreciated to whittle down a short list.
  15. Hi, just recently moved here (other half arrives in a couple of weeks) and I'm looking to meet some people around here if possible. Anyone fancy meeting up for a quick drink after work one day or something? cheers Wayne
  16. Hi , Just wondered if anyone lives/lived.... or has visited Jurien bay . Any Opinions about the area would be great . I have researched about the housing and the population Just would like some more honest good or bad thoughts about the bay Thanks Bridess x
  17. Hi, Can anyone help. I am looking for childcare for my 2.5year old. I will be working shifts and not quite sure yet whether it is a rota or request system. Obviously for childcare reasons I am hoping to work set days. I need someone in either Clarkson or joondalup as I will be working at joondalup hospital and will be going there by train from clarkson. Horizons in clarkson would be my first choice but I think they are limited on spaces in the toddler room. Does anyone know of any day care centres or family day care that would be any good? Also does anyone know if baby earth childcare is still running? I came across it via google search but the website wasn't available. Thank you for any advice!
  18. Hi Just out of interest does anyone have any views on this? My daughter has hayfever in the UK from April - August and suffers quite bad. Obviously the months will change in Oz , but does anyone have any experience as to whether the pollens are different etc?? Just curious ! Thanks

    Nice area for couples

Hi Everyone, My boyfriend and I are moving to Sydney and are looking for advice on nice areas to live in commuting distance to the business district. It would need to be near public transport and we would like to be in an area with shops / restaurants nearby... Any recommendations? Kate
  20. Hi all, Hopefully someone out there will be able to help me with this one. Ages ago mum was on Poms and having a general read (she doesn' do it often and usually relies on feedback from us!). She thought she saw someone saying that they were going to do mobile hairdressing (again she thought it was the Brisbane area) and posting a price list. I have looked all over and cannot find the post she is referring to (mum can't remember which forum she was reading so it doesn't help much.) We are heading out to Springfield Lakes and I am already panicking about finding a reliable (not too expensive) hairdresser after all the horror stories I have read on here. Keep reading that Brit trained is best!! :unsure:Can anyone help? Thanks Sarah x

Can anyone shed any light on Karrinyup Primary and it's feeder Secondary. I've found info on surrounding schools but cant seem to work out where the kids from Karrinyup move onto. I've been reasearching all the primary schools in this area so any advice or information would be great. Have loads more to ask you all but one thing at a time and the school thing is at the top of my list!! Many thanks
