    What food is allowed

I am making my permanent move in a week and was asked by relatives to bring over some food like anchovies and home made cookies/cakes. I know fish amaterial is not allowed but what if I seal it in a bag? Would cookies be a problem? Thanks guys.
  2. My dad is arriving on November 21st (yipee), and will be with us until Jan 2nd when he'll travel to Brissy to see my brother. I want to buy my dad a bottle of Malt for chrissy, but although he likes a wee dram he's unlikely to finish the entrie bottle before he leaves for QLD. My question ... would he be able to take an opened bottle interstate? (so he could finish it over there?), or do I turn him into an alcoholic and get him to drink it all in 7 days??? Thanks Ali x
  3. I've applied to do an advanced diploma. But it's not at TAFE, it's at a private college aimed at international students. It's alot cheaper than TAFE- it's about half the cost (because I would be classed as an international student). Anybody have experience with these type of places? I was thinking of going to TAFE anyway to do an evening language course (Certificate I - III)... is it possible to do two courses, even though the second one is only an evening class?
  4. Hello all!! My husband and I are in very early stages in deciding whether a move to Oz is the right decision for us and our family. We had hoped on getting a skilled independant visa but don't score enough points and so it looks like we would have to get a visa so that we go to areas of low population growth first. Fine don't mind that and one agent has told us we can go to Tasmania or Darwin only, is this the case as I found this link on the IMMI site: Regional Australia/Low Population Growth Metropolitan Areas - Workers - Visas & Immigration we would like to go to Adelaide as our first choices had been Sydney or Melbourne. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks:yes:
  5. Hi all just wondering how many suitcases you are allowed to take on the plane when you move to Oz. Are you allowed to take more luggage as you are moving.
  6. Yep, its true!!! At long, long last those Aussie immigration geezers have eventually granted me, a proud and long time wearer of 'budgie smugglers' and general exhibitionist, a Visa to live in Australia!! After what seems like a bloody eternity of waiting and complaining, we eventually had a phone call from our agent this morning to inform us that Australia do want dodgy Welsh folk in their country! I have loads of really close mates on this site and, although i know its probably boring to say so, you guys have made the journey so very much easier. (Now.....I could go into an Oscar mode here and start to reel of the names of loads of mates who've helped us heaps along the way but im sure you know who you are) Being an Augustee applicant, i know thats theres loads of us on here who have started to feel like it was never going to happen to us...but lets be honest!!! If they're gonna let me in, you lot have no worries at all!!! Anyway, we're gonna book our reccie trip for the beginning of May, spend a week or so with my sister on the Gold Coast before setting off to the Sunny Coast which is where we're gonna live, to see some of the old time PIO'ers who live up there. So, Jo & Paul, Eddie & Tina, Chelle & Gav, Ian & Lou, Lisa & Dave.....get your beds ready cos after this freakin visa business, i can't afford any hotels!!! :twitcy: Thanks again PIO!! Dan
