  1. I have my eligibility letter which i need to complete by going in person to the office, i planned to do this in August and start work on a 457 visa ( in process), however my current job has just offered me promotion in a new unit and i was thinking that i may put off Oz for a year..can i go to Australia on holiday this year, verify my registration and then return to work in the UK..then when i go to apply for jobs in Australia in 12-18 months time i will still be registered and ready to start?? Would that work out ok? I definitely still want to go to Australia and was really looking forward to it but now this opportunity has come up at home, i feel i should take this and go Oz next year, however if that would not be possible i will just carry on with my initial plan of moving to Australia this summer. Thanks for any info
  2. Sent all my documents off after months of making them perfect...then get told the transcript isn't right (even though it was) so i got onto uni and NMC to send out alternative, neither of which has been done yet but i got in touch with the AHPRA woman who's dealing with my application to just ask if anything else was needed, she didn't answer that exactly but just said "The application is with the nursing professional for assessment, once i have the result i will email you." So i asked if that means they have all documents required or if thats what their checking before they put it through to be assessed for eligibility? She replied "Assessment to see if the documents meet AHPRA requirements to allow the letter of eligibility to be sent" Does this mean they don't need the extra transcript now or what? And is that it now at the last stage before eligibility letter sent? i just don't know lol i don't want to keep asking her and i don't know what her answers mean anyway! Although the good thing is since that womans been emailing me shes been keeping me updated and replies to my emails within 10 minutes...even if i don't always know what shes going on about lol I'm so excited and feel sick at same time lol so am i just waiting to hear if I'm eligible or am i waiting to hear what other documents i need?? does anybody know? Thanks
  3. Hi, im a mental health nurse and just been offered a job at Concord mental health hospital. I currently work in acute admissions for working age adults and would like to carry on in this area or possibly a PICU. Does anyone know if this hospital has an acute admissions ward for adults? As from looking online it looks like it just has geriatric care and i dont want to work there. The lady that interviewed me stated there was acute wards and various others that i could rotate round, but i dont want to work in rehab as its too slow paced or with the elderly. So if theres not adult acute or PICU i wont want to take it. Any information on this hospital would be appreciated. Also where could i live? Any advice on this too! I dont drive but need somewhere cheap, so obviously will need to commute but dont know where to start looking for cheap units, it would just be me and my husband. Another thing...what salary can i expect?..i wasnt told anything specific and have seen the pay scales online but just wondering if they are accurate for those on temporary visa and after tax etc. Will we have enough money to live on and enough to save some? We have no debts in UK and arent big spenders. So many questions lol i'll see if i get any replies to this first before i bombard you with more APHRA received my application on 6th November, ive emailed 3 times since then but they just say they cant tell me anything yet and to wait. I know it could be a while Thanks xx

    AHPRA help and/or advice please!!!

OK - so have decided to commence the overwhelming AHPRA process today and after gathering the documents together, I have realised that a copy of my uni transcripts is required for proof of academic purposes. The thing is I had to send the original and a certified copy to ANMAC ( I have also made a copy for myself before posting so am I able to get ANMAC to send AHPRA the original and/or certified copy, once they have finished with my skills assessment? And the other thing is, on the form when it asks for my principal place of practice - Im not sure what to put? We are thinking of NSW and/or WA, both where Ive had job offers, but not sure what state or territory to actually put? Eeeeekk!! Any help or advice is gratefully appreciated Thank you xx
  5. we currently have a case officer. applied on a 175 (on my fellas job - boilermaker) i am a registered midwife, with 2 yr experience hoping to be in oz by the end of the year. am just looking at ahpra paperwork. i know i have to register with AHPRA to be able to practice as a midwife in oz. we are wanting to go to either NSW or Perth. 1. i initially qualified as a midwife in october 08, but there were no jobs so i worked within mental health as a care assistant for a year. 2. i have worked as a registered midwife since july 2009 3. i have a letter from my hr department detailing my post, hours and dates of employment. is this correct for what i need. 4. is it just ahpra that i need to apply to. i dont need to do the skills assessment as we are going on my fellas job. 5. ahpra want a certified copy of all academic qualifications. eg. academic transcript. what does this mean. can i just send them my certificate from hull university stating my award. does it need certifying by a solicitor 6. ahpra want my curriculum vitae detailing my full practice history and any clinical or procedural skills undertaken. signed and dated by my employer. can someone help me with this bit please, what shall i put, how much detail do they want and who can sign and date this for me, my manager dosent know im applying and i dont want her to know. 7. what evidence do they want to show i was taught and assessed in english sorry this post is soooo long, but am starting to get really stressed out with all of this. many thanks nicola
  6. What a total nightmare that was! I applied in March and it has been driving me mental ever since!!! :arghh:I finally got my registration on friday! :biggrin:I'm so happy as I love nursing and Australia. I'm just waiting for my visa now. Hope I get it as I'm already in Oz. :twitcy: My advice would be....apply asap because it takes 6 months if you're lucky, well mine took a tad longer as my 1st application was never received. Also with your application if you are English you don't need to do the ielts exam, you just need a letter from your secondary school (on headed paper, dated and signed) stating that you were taught and assessed in English. Also your uni transcript must include how many hours in practice and theory you did in surgical, medical, community, mental health, elderly, child and midwifery if you did those. I'm an adult nurse so I didn't practice midwifery and child, just so you don't stress and think you need to. If you have been offered a job before getting your Australian nurses reg (like me), get a letter from your future employer with the job offer and start date and send to AHPRA (will need to be the orginal not a photocopy...you will also need a copy for your visa so either get 2 from your empolyers or visit AHPRA with your copy if you are already in Oz-hope that makes sense), this will prioritise your application. If it is prioritized it only takes 4 to 6 weeks! (with I knew this!) Make sure you get a notary to sign all the photocopies of your certificates, passports ect. Telephone your application assessor on a regular basis if you don't hear anything. I hope that will help someone. If you are looking for a job, you don't have to apply through an agency. If you apply yourself, you don't need a medical. I applied directly to the hospital. Here is a link if you fancy NSW. I was in London at the time of applying and had an interview over the phone at 4am one morning. Phone interviews are much easier as you can do notes and be prepared. I had policies and handy hints written and stuck all over my wall. Anyway I'm waffling, here is the link: http://www7.health.nsw.gov.au/healthjobs/Default.cfm?ID=1233 Here are the payscales too. Happy days! http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/nursing/employment/nurse_award_wage_rates_11.asp Good luck  Emma xxx ## please note, you don't need a medical for AHPRA. You will need one at a later date for the visa process. ##
  7. Hi all I need to submit evidence of CPD for AHPRA for registration. I am a bit confused as to what to send to them for this. I have been a mentor to a 3rd year student nurse from Jan - March this year and was wondering if this would account for the 20 hours evidence? as I have worked with her on lots of my shifts 12.5 hrs? She said she will write a statement for me and I was going to write a reflective piece to cover the time I have worked with her and the learning outcomes I wanted to achieve with her. Do you think that this would be sufficient? I have looked at the FAQ on AHPRA website, but would liketo hear from anyone who has sent in their CPD to give me some reassurance I am on the right track or will I need to send in a lot more written evidence to cover this? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    AHPRA Documents

Hi all, Just wondering do you get any documents back that you have posted for your registration? Thanks, Laura
  9. Hey all, I have been in oz since april, I also applied for my reg with QNC in april. I was due to start work 3 weeks ago. NMC in UK were so late and tardy in sending my verification I lost out on being granted reg with QNC by one day! Now AHPRA (formed 1st july) do not have the processes in place to assess overseas trained nurse's applications at the moment. so I cant work, I dont know when I will be able to and I can't get any sense out of AHPRA! Thinking there most be some people in the same boat? Annie:wacko:
  10. Hi everybody. Are there any South African nurses here? Or anyone that could help with some info. I am a registered nurse, trained in South Africa, first registered with SANC in 1999 and have been livnig and working in the UK since 2003. I originally started my Australian nursing registration application with Queensland, but this was in June last year, so has now been moved over to AHPRA. After months of waiting and no response from them, I have finally received an email from my allocated registration case worker. As I was trained in South Africa, she has requested evidence of adaptation training from the time I first registered in the UK (Aparently this is a requirement for all South African nurses). I have contacted the NMC, and they have told me that they only started doing this in 2005, and as I came over in 2003, it was not a requirement for me. And now because I'm already registered over here and not in South Africa, there is no available adaptation program available for me to do. If anyone has any information or suggestions, please could you let me know. I have also posted a similar request on SAAustralia forum. Thanks you all. J

    Ahpra cv

Hi still going through my AHPRA application, getting all my documents certified on friday.... Just a few confusions with the CV, do I need all my qualifications e.g. science maths etc all certified?? Just this will cost soo much! Or just all certificates relevant for my nursing e.g. health and social, nursing degree. Also hoping to go to Queensland, will it just be best to apply to the Queensland office?

    AHPRA issues

When applying for AHPRA, Will I need transcripts of college qualifications as well as my university transcripts? Any help with this would be great!
  13. Hi guys I've sent off my AHPRA application for registration with all of my documents certified by a local solicitor here in Camberwell (London). I was under the impression that a solicitor was allowed to certify these documents. But I've recently seen, on another thread here, that some people have been asked to re submit some documents and get them certified by a notary public instead. Is this accurate? What are people's experiences? Are solicitors ok? Or should I commence panic Cheers
  14. Hi, I have a query about what to answer for two questions on the AHPRA nursing registration form. Question 5. Is your residential address the same as your principal place of practice/employment in Australia? I live in London and working for a NHS trust and I do not have any job offer. I want to register first with AHPRA before starting applying for the vacancies so should I answer "no" and provide my NHS address. Question 17. "Do you commit to only practise the profession if you have appropriate professional indemnity insurance arrangements in place?" What would be the answer for this question. And one more question, if we register in one state and got an offer from hospital in another state will that be an issue or we can work any where in Australia irrespective of where you have been registered. Thanks & Regards, Mansawant
  15. Hello again! We're still fighting with our AHPRA registration for my girlfriend, nearly there though I think. We were just going over the criteria for registration when we noticed something a bit worrying (as we were hoping to post it tomorrow morning!). We've done none of these! Could anyone tell us what these actually need? My girlfriend has a current CRB we could send, would that cover the first one? What do we need for the disciplinary and health ones? She doesn't have any outstanding issues health or disciplinary, but how do we tell them that? Many thanks! James
  16. Hi all, We are in the process of sending everything to AHPRA for my wife's nursing registration. As we have to notarise everything, I have come across NOTARY FOR NURSES here http://www.notaryfornurses.net/ Does anyone know if they are worth using? Has anyone used them or heard of them? :embarrassed: Any help would be welcome!! Thank You!!
  17. Hey does any one know if AHPRA are registering University diploma nurses at the moment? I applied to them in April but they still say they are processing my registration, due to a back log. I just wish I knew if I was eligible or not... I'm learning disability trained too which makes it trickier! Cheers everyone! Becca
  18. :arghh:Could somebody please help me! I have been trying to gain my nursing registration since February 2011 when AHPRA received my application (and took my application fee I might add). I have constantly queried the fact "do I need to sit an IELTs test?, as I have been taught and assessed in English all of my life". the answer has always been "yes" until I recived a letter in April stating "although you have provided the correct evidence to demonstrate you have been taught and aseessed in English you have also provided an unsuccessful IELTs result." Again, I queried this, due to the way the leeter was written did I need to sit the IELTs test in the first place. Finally, in May I received an email apologising stating I should nebver have sat the IELTs and as long as I provide certified evidence of my education (which I have done) my application will be complete. Now, they have emailed me again stating I need to sit an IELTs! Please, please could somebody clarify this for me. i have complained to AHPRA and got nowhere (they won't let me speak to a team leader or supoervisior) and I have no way of getting past the customer services. Does anyone no of any loop holes or people I can speak to or help me. All help; information and advice is gratefully received:arghh:

    AHPRA help!!

Hello I am a diploma trained learning disability nurse, I have two years nursing experience and ten years experience working as a support worker with people with learning disabilities. I have completed one extra degree module since I qualified. I applied to AHPRA in may, I had an email asking for a couple more documents which I sent today. It was all looking promising but have just read that they are not accepting diploma nurses unless they have ten years experience or more degree modules. I have been working towards moving to Aus for years and scared my dreams will be shattered because I didn't do the degree. I have paid AHPRA all the money and wish they had made it clearer before if this was the case. Does anyone have any idea if I have a chance with my qualifications and experience? Thanks Beca
  20. Anyone who has been recently registered got their practicing certificate from AHPRA? If yes, how much time did it take from registration? My friend (an onshore graduate) got her registration in December and has still not received her certificate. ANMC won't process her skills assessment without a certified copy of the initial certificate - even though AHPRA has already sent them verification of registration.
  21. Hi, i have just had an email from ahpra saying my transcript doesn't breakdown my theory and clinical hours into the core 4 subjects. so i emailed them back to ask what they exactly ment and this is what i got back. We typically require the breakdown of clinical and theoretical hours to include the following : Theoretical : anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and microbiology. this theory was only covered mainly covered in one module but was touched alot in other modules aswell. Clinical : medical nursing, surgical nursing, psychiatric nursing, community health, and age care As i am adult trained we were not able to gain practical hours in psyc as this was a different speciality. as for the others i covered these in placements but uni don't hold that sort of evidence. anybody any ideas what i can do now. this is all i am outstanding to be granted eligilibilty to pratice sooo frustrating Rachel:cry:

    AHPRA joy... at last!!

Yay!!! I am finally registered and on the online register! It's not taken quite as long as some OPs, just 4 months (psychologist...doubt there's as many of us going thru process as there are nurses), and still one final battle to get the word 'clinical' in title but feel like I've crossed the main hurdle. Good luck and hang on in there to others going through this - my advice: start early, be thorough in paperwork and follow instructions to the letter, and don't be afraid to (gently) prompt and chase AHPRA... They're almost as efficient as HPC here!
  23. Hi can anyone help me....I have just received my letter from AHPRA to say I am eligible to register as a midwife it took just 7 weeks from when I posted the application and all the documents to them so very happy with that. I am now starting the 121 ENS PR visa application and keep seeing references to a 'skills assessment'. This is the first I have heard about that and I can't seem to really get any firm information about whether I need to do that or if the fact I have my letter from AHPRA will be enough to say my skills have been assessed?? The cost of a skills assessment on the ANMAC website is pretty high for something I feel I have gone through already. I would love to hear of other peoples experiences with this.
  24. hi everyone. i received an advice from ahpra to change my current application as an enrolled nurse to REgistered nurse because i am now eligible to apply as an RN because of the in principle approval. what do they mean by that? thank you ;))

    AHPRA help please!!!!

Hello I'm new to this site and am hopeful that someone can help me. I'm a mental health nurse trying to work my way through the AHPRA registration but I'm getting stressed and very confused. I know this is probably a stupid question but when AHPRA ask for 'certified copies' of transripts and university certificates etc does this mean; a photocopy of the original certificate or would it have to be a proper duplicate of the original issued by University for example which then has to be certified by a solicitor?????? Any advice would be gratefully recieved. Claire:confused:
