For all those waiting...hang in there...you never know when your status changes!! Timeline: 885 applied on 4th march 2010 (front loaded all docs) No further development, no CO for 5 months Visa grant on 8/7/2010

  5. Hi, I am on 485 Visa currently which expires on 18/03/10 , I have allready applied for 885 ( non CSL and Non MODL and no sponsors so no priority. I am getting married in November this year and my fiance is overseas, What should I be doing, should I add her to my 885 application or should I she apply as a depedant onto my 485 Visa. 6. Hi, Currently I am on a 1 year WHV (417) VISA due to expire 31/12/2010, I have applied for WA state sponsorship (01/05/2010) and waiting for a response. I have calculated the below points for when I appy: Under 30: 30 IELTS: 25 Occupation (Accountant) Positively Assessed by CPA Australia: 60 State Sponsorship: 10 Total with State Sponsorship: 125 Total without State Sponsorship: 115 (UK Passport) *I do not qualify for the 3 out of 4 years points in a related occupation as I only have 2 years. Currently I think I have two options to choose from: 1.) I submit an application for the 885 before I hear back from the WA State Sponsorship. But if I do can I change this to an 886 application if I get State Sponsorship at a later date? 2.) I wait for a response from the WA State Sponsorship and then submit an 886 application. Should I take option 1 or 2? Kind Regards, Kyle

  8. Good Day everyone, Hello, I would like to ask a couple of question to further clarify and understand the migration system. First, regarding the new SOL list that will be announced on the 30/04/2010,(Q1) Does anyone knows how will this affect fresh graduates on the current CSL? http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/critical-skills-list.pdf I am an Electronics Engineer (approved by Engineers Australia with positive skilled assessment for 2 years study in Australia) and had completed my application for a subclass 886 with all the required documents. Thus,(Q2) Do I have to undertake another skilled assessment again to suite the new SOL list? Thus, I have called the operator from the DIAC department and they said, "Current GSM applicant lodged after 8 February,2010 will not be affected by the new SOL list or the new point system for GSM". However, I have doubts due to the rapid changes.Hence,(Q3) I would like to request for a favor from a professional to verify this statement, please? I appreciate your time and effort spend on this request. Thank you. rgds, Adrian
  9. Hi everyone, I've lodged in a 485 application few months ago and i'm on a bridging visa A , and now i'm eligible to apply for a 885. I was wondering , will that be a problem if i lodge in for 885 and withdraw the 485 application after logding in the 885? will the withdrawal affects my 885 application? I'm doing this because the nomiated occupation on the 485 was nominated wrongly(2231-17 Software Designer instead of ACS assessed 2231-79 recent graduate), according to DIAC policy, we are unable to change the nomiated occupation after the application has been lodged. so i was thinking, before the 485 being refused i need to apply for 885 and withdraw the 485 application. need some urgent advice here.. many thanks
  10. Changes introduced on 1 January 2010 required certain General Skilled Migration applicants to provide a skills assessment dated on or after 1 January 2010. This is no longer the case. Effective from today, 12 March 2010, onshore applicants for General Skilled Migration who are nominating a trade occupation in the following subclasses: • Subclass 487 (Skilled - Regional Sponsored) • Subclass 885 (Skilled - Independent) • Subclass 886 (Skilled - Sponsored) will be able to use an existing suitable skills assessment to lodge a valid visa application. That means that a skills assessment which pre-dates 1 January 2010 can be used. DIAC has advised clients applying for either a subclass 487, 885 or 886 visa to confirm whether your existing skills assessment is suitable by contacting the department on 1300 364 613. Further information can be found on DIAC's website - Changes to the skills assessment criterion for certain onshore General Skilled Migration applicants nominating a trade occupation—12 March 2010 Kind regards

    Convert 885 to 886 family?

Hello, I've been wondering whether I should convert my 885 (non CSL/MODL) visa application to 886 family sponsored. Background: I've lodged my 885 application in August 2008. Been waiting for CO since then. Status changed to application processed further on 4/12/2009. No email from DIMIA. I don't think I've got CO yet Sister got her PR in March 2010 (ENS 856). She is willing to sponsor me. Is she eligible? Or is there a waiting period for her to be able to be a sponsor? Your wise advice would be very much appreciated  Thank you, Seb

    Skilled 885 points test, MRT

Hey guys has anyone been in a similar situation or knows someone who has been through the Migration review tribunal process. I applied for 885 independent visa in 2007 which was refused on the basis of not having met the point test of 120. I worked as an enrolled nurse for almost 2 years before applying and am now a registered nurse. I claimed 10 points for work experience an an enrolled nurse and could not be awarded points as this is not an occupation on the SOL. I also claimed points for occupation in demand/job offer as my occupation was on the MODL and I had a job offer but no points were awarded. What I would like to know is can the MRT reassess my points since I now have the one year experience as registered nurse and if not, can they allow me to apply for another visa in the same subclass like 886 as I have a relative who can sponsor me

    Applying for Visa Offhsore

Hi everybody, I hope anyone will be able to help me in this situation: I came to Australia - Gold Coast in July 2007 and finished 2 Master degrees - Master of Information Technology - Master of Information Systems I have graduated in December 2009 and applied for Visa 885. My Bridging Visa A will come into effect in 15 March 2010. I need also to say that during my stay in Australia I have worked as a part-timer in a well reputable IT company. Duration of work was for 2 years and 3 months in this well known IT company. Because of the recent changes and time needed to wait I am finding myself so lonely and I am searching for a way to go back to my home country and apply offshore for PR. Do you think I can do it? If so, what Visa number? Last week I got the ACS assessment and it is all good but all my family and relatives are there and I would like to be licing with them until I get my PR. Please help me with any suggestions. Regards, Sam.
  15. I am currently an international student and I expect to graduate in June. Given the massive delays in processing time for visa 885 ( onshore equivalent of 175 ). I was wondering 1) Can I apply for 885 onshore and then leave Australia and work overseas while the processing continues ? 2) The visa condition says I must be on shore at the time of grant ! Will I get a pre-grant letter asking me to return to Australia ? 3) Can I enter Australia on a Tourist visa to get the PR stamp ? Thanks

    457 to 885 confusing

Hi Guys I have a question pertaining to moving from 457 dependent to 885. I just completed my PhD in Oz, working at the uni on a 457 visa and applied for PR (885). I wanted to know what happens to my wife's visa (457 dependent) after I get my PR?? I understand that 457 is linked to the employer, so if I move on to a PR will my wife remain on 457 dependent for the duration of 457 or should I apply for another Visa?? A bit confusing.. Cheers Clocter

Hi, every one. I really need your guys' opinions. I am a student majoring in Accounting and going to graduate in the begining of April. I have got 4 sevens for Ielts. Should I apply for PR as soon as possible or wait for the new SOL to come out first? Am I eligible to apply in April based on the old SOL, am I still processed according to the CSL when I apply in April? But what if my case is still being processed or to be processed when the new SOL comes into effect? Really confused and going crazy about the changes! I really appreciate anyone can answer me! Panick over 885

Hi all, I am new to this forum, and have had a read through some of the posts and am now rather worried. I have just finished a two year trade diploma. I knew there were new rules coming in on Jan 1st about the job ready test, which it has been impossible to find any info on. I had been hoping to get the hours done by Xmas, but had accepted that that probably wouldn't happen, so I would have to apply after Jan 1st and just put up with paying for the job ready test. So now that they have also said you have to apply and get your TRA assessment back before applying, someone mentioned they thought this would be because they would want a years work before you could apply for the 885. I am not totally sure about this, as to get the graduate visa you still have to have got the skills assessment done, so if you did indeed need a years work experiance before getting the assessment, that would be a lot of people who couldn't get that visa either, and then would have to leave the country, and the whole student route would likley grind to a halt. I am working full time for the next 4 days, and will be a few hours short by xmas day. I am going to go in tomorrow and BEG them to let me come in for extra hours over xmas when it is just a skeleton staff for reduced hours. But then my next problem. If I do manage to get the 900 hours before 1st of Jan, I then have to apply for TRA and the visa before then. Someone told me you could apply for TRA online, but it seems you just fill the form out online, pay by credit card online, then post it. So when does it count as having been applied for then? When you pay, or when they actually get it in their sweaty little hands? Of course if it is when it gets there I can't even be sure when that would be..... I really don't want to have to wait yet another year for PR, or risk having to go back to the UK if I couldn't get the graduate visa. Any thoughts would be great as my head is pretty mashed at the moment.... Thanks very much

    885 Application Help

Hi Guys, I need some information here, I am a skilled graduate 485 visa holder and I just applied for onshore 885 - as skilled independant (non MODL, non CSL and no Sponsors) on 29/08/09, My skills assessment from ACS was received with a postive result in March 2008, it will expire in March 2010 (2 years validity for recent graduates), I dont think that because of the priority processing I will get a case officer before that expires, unfortunately I cannot revalidate my ACS skills assessment as revalidation is not possible for graduate skills assessments. So I am all screwed up I dont know what to do, any information much appreciated. Thanks Mar

    176 to 485/885?

Hi All, I applied for 175 in Jan 2008, submitted medical in Feb 2009 and my status is "awaiting further processing". My Occupation was in SOL. In the meantime I finished a MS in IT in Brisbane, got 8.5 in IELTS. Now Im wondering if I should wait for the 175 outcome or apply again for 485 or 885 or switch to 176SS. 1. Should I wait for it or 885 would be faster? 2. If I apply for 485, does my 175 application become void? 3. can any one kindly give me any url/forms that i should be reading for 176SS? I would be really greatful if you can kindly provide me an answer. Thanks in advance.
  25. Hi, I have a very complicated situation here and I really need help and suggestion from anyone. I am on a 485 at the moment and it is expiring in November 2009. For me to apply for an 885 and be approved, I would need to work in the job nomination I was assessed under, for 12 months. All my documents and conditions are all OK, except for the work experience that I am having at the moment. I am working in a field that is not closely related to the job nomination I was assessed under which was management consultant. I am currently in Human Resources. This is giving me a massive headache because I am in a risk of not getting my PR. I have a few alternatives I can think of relating with this but I need help in clarifying a few things and I need some opinions. From my research, I know that I cannot re-assess myself under Personnel officer (HR) and use this to apply for my 885 as I cannot change my job nomination for visa 885 since I applied for my 485 under Management consultant. (Anyone can verify this?) So......... Since I don't want to leave Australia.... I am thinking of re-assessing myself under Human Resources and applying under 175 (offshore) right now, and close my 485 expiring, I will apply for an 885 so after my 485 expires, I can still stay in Australia under bridging visa while my 885 is being put in process (until it gets rejected - but i know that it takes a while until the application goes to a case officer). Then if worse comes to worst, I might have to leave Australia while still waiting for the 175 to be approved, but by then, at least the application will already be halfway and is getting closer to approval. Can we actually apply for another visa while one is still under process? How many visas can we apply for at the same time? Please spare me some of your thoughts and if there is anything that I have missed on, or any rules that will stop me from implementing my plan. For any replies, I really appreciate your help. Cheers.
