    176 lodged December 2011

Hi all we have finally just submitted our 176 visa!!! Is there anyone else out there that has submitted in December so far? Just a quick question. I have uploaded all documents required on the checklist but now when I go into the visa application using the TRN number to check the application it doesn't indicate that they have actually been uploaded and there is nowhere to upload anything else. Is this normal?

  4. Pptrixibell and I are keen to have a wee meet at the child friendly George Harcourt Inn one Saturday afternoon. For those who haven't heard, the George Harcourt is at Gold Creek on the Barton Highway between Gungahlin and Belconnen and is one of the better traditional pubs in Canberra I'm thinking of meeting up for 3pm on the Saturday 26th, there is plenty to see at Gold Creek/Gininnderra Village/Federation Square if you want come early and look around for a few hours beforehand. Anyone interested? http://www.georgeharcourt.com/
  5. Hi all, Please can the nurses moved to Oz in 2011 and in the process of moving sahre information about the type of visa (457 or PR) and also the time line as it will help us to decide the type of visa. The hospital is happy to sponsor my wife on 457 but not ready to wait for PR (advised by the ageny not directly by the hospital as applied using agency) and apply for PR once in Oz. So this is not sure when once u are in OZ. As we have school going son and we are moving to Sydney (NSW) the school education is not free if ur on 457 and also for as a spouse it will difficult to get the job as agencies do not conside ur if ur on 457. So would like to have more info from nurses who moved recently and also in the process of moving to decide whether we can proceed on 457. Appreciate any advice or info. ....Manish

  10. What a day! Out of the blue this morning our visa was granted and our dream future is on the horizon, What a rollercoaster ride with the most fabulous outcome, dont think its actually sunk in properly yet as our application seemed to be plague ridden and when we sorted one problem another seemed to rear its ugly head the last being my police check which unearthed a conditional discharge when I was 14 which counted as a conviction. We did the whole process ourselves in 10months which I think I did pretty darn well considering the problems we encountered. The moral of this story is if you want it bad enough you can obtain your dreams/goals in life nomatter what obstacles you come across, Dont give up until you have explored every route possible! I will be so proud to live in Australia and the next obstacle will be citizenship!!!! I will still remain to poke my nose in on here as its a fantastic site and know I will still gain advice and will need advice in the coming months prior to leaving(May12) You guys have been amazing and I want to Thank you all as when our visa application had got us down with problems this place has picked us up and lifted our spirits and helped keep focused and positive. Now a drink is in order! Gary & Sue :jiggy:

    Pet Census 2011 in AU

Thought this maybe of interest to a few people With the 2011 Australian Bureau of Statistics Human Census having just recently taken place, we have decided to ask the nation our own set of questions for our pet community. We are pleased to carry out Australia’s first ever comprehensive pet census - Pet Census 2011. Pet Census 2011 seeks to explore four main areas relating to human-animal relationship, namely, health, finance, social relations and family life. Whilst Australians are already known to be a nation of animal lovers, the findings may show that pets actually play their part in a 'big society' with proof that pets make us more compassionate, happier, healthier and more sociable.:wubclub: You can still do it till NOV 6TH they have extended the date Pet census Brides x

  17. Hi, This week I was granted my permanent residence visa for Australia along with my girlfriend. We're both still bouncing off the walls, can't believe it finally came through. So I thought I'd post some of the timing details, I remember checking my application status daily and searching online for any clues of how long it might take, hopefully this will help others who are still waiting. Application lodged on 29/09/2010 Additional information requested 26/05/2011 - police checks, medicals and additional proof of my de facto relationship. Additional information sent 24/06/2011 (police check took around 2 weeks to be completed - UK) Visa granted 21/09/2011 Any questions let me know Andy
  18. Hello All, I am very new to this forum and the reason I am here is because I am relocating to Melbourne. I am a banking Consultant and have got a new Job in Melbourne. My employer has sponsored my 457 application. I am very newly married. I have some questions, and If someone can answer them, It will be really helpful for me: 1). What is the average cost of renting a house in a apartment with good security, close to city( My office is in Queen Street) ? I will be okie with a 1 or 2 BHK house with fuly furnished facilities. 2). Can we get International TV Channels in Melbourne and if yes, What is the procedure and charges for them? Apart from this, 3). I am also planning to rent a car. Can anyone tell me what is the average rent for a decent car( does not have to be an SUV or a BENZ ! ). 4). We are currently moving on a 457 VISA and plan to apply for a PR. If anyone has done it in the past, please provide me any suggestions or recommendations to hire a immigration consultant. Your answers to the above quesstions will really help me in planning ahead for the move. Thanks in advance.

    Arrived Gold coast 2011.

Hi All arrived in Bris on 2/9/11. Staying in Ashmore Palms temporarily. Will be working in Mater as midwife. Looking for houses this week. Not 100% on areas have a long short list somewhere between CBD and here. Prob not as far south as Southport due to commute. We have met some lovely people so far although most have younger children. Ours are 15,13,11 ( three girls) so if anyone is in similar position drop us a line we could meet up. Keen to find area and schools now so girls can start making friends. So far so good. Enjoying the sun, scenery and exploring the area Thanks in Advance Jo x
