  5. THE ANGELS | PRESS RELEASE | 6th April 2010 Not Since The Beatles! In June 1964, over two hundred thousand people saw The Beatles show Adelaide how to play at the Adelaide Town Hall for a Mayoral Civic Reception. Now… The Adelaide Lord Mayor is to honour classic rock band The Angels in the same way, with one exception, The Angels don’t need to show their hometown anything, they already know how to Rock! The Angels have been invited to a Lord Mayoral Reception at Adelaide Town Hall hosted by Lord Mayor Michael Harbison, on Friday 16 April, the eve of their Orchestral Collaboration debut ‘Symphony Of Angels”. Doc Neeson, Chris Bailey, Buzz Bidstrup, John and Rick Brewster will be receiving this prestigious honour personally in front of family, friends and lucky fans. In the past month The Angels have been unveiling a chain of amazing events including the release of a new classical version of their monster hit ‘Take A Long Line’ which was produced by the band. The new track was met with such an astounding response, that the Triple M network with Ugly Phil picked up the new single the same day it was released and the switchboard lit up with requests, something that Triple M hasn’t seen in a while with a new song. Channel Nine’s high rating weekend show ‘Postcards’ aired on Sunday 21st March in Adelaide to one of the shows strongest weekend ratings. The show featured a behind the scenes peek at the recording of the new orchestral release of “Take A Long Line” at Alberts Studios in Sydney and the orchestra rehearsal at The Town Hall in Adelaide and MixMaster studios. Popular ABC show Spicks and Specs have recently invited Doc Neeson to appear on the Show, the pre-recorded segment will go to air on Wednesday the 14th of April, don’t miss the comedy and fun that will unfold with a few surprises. With the band originating from Adelaide, there couldn’t be a more appropriate city for this one off event. The Festival Theatre in Adelaide will see the Symphony of Angels become a reality for one night only on Saturday April 17th withthe 30-piece Adelaide Art Orchestra. This will be an event not to miss – Tickets selling fast. Not stopping for a breath, The Angels will then take off to perform shows in Far North Queensland and Tasmania. World Cup 2010 ?

We are emigrating later on this month, and were wondering if anyone knows what the arrangements are in Australia for the football World Cup in June. We know the games will be on around 12.30am and 4.30am - ish. Does anyone know if these games will only be shown live in Australia, or are there likely to be re-runs and/or highlights during 'waking' house Oz-time? Just wondering, as we won't have access to be able to record the matches as we are doing an extended recce and are likely to be in holiday accommodation then. On a separate note, although we won't have one in time for the World Cup in June, does Australia have the same technology to record satellite tv as we have in the UK - ie Sky+/V+ boxes? Thanks KC

  12. I have booked flights to South Africa and have tickets to 6 games at this year's football world cup (AUS v GER, AUS v GHA, ENG v SLV, POR v BRA, ARG v SKR, and one R16 - prob HOL v ??). I am also thinking to apply for ENG v USA and the Final through englandfan membership (the final tickets are dependent on England getting there ofcourse, and a refund is provided after the WC if they don't) Is anyone going to any of these games, interested in joining me for some of the trip, or interested in joining my application for above games? I have 3 mates with me for the first 2 weeks, and then at a loose end pretty much from the end of June. Cheers and roll on the good times !!

    2010 World Cup

This post is for the English who are based in Australia & would like to share our success of the 2010 world cup with like minded people. Im in Brisbane but the idea of this post is for people all over Australia to meet up & share the passion as we would have done back home. So if you’re keen to watch the England games in the company of fellow Englishmen/woman then talk. Lets all stand together and share this moment. For me its my first world cup away & im feeling slightly homesick just thinking about it…I don’t want to when the three lions roar, when the national anthem is played we should be together…use and abuse this to meet people who want to celebrate what we hope will be a once in a lifetime experience for us to watch the boys win the cup. We could quite possibly meet Australia in the last 16 of the world cup, if it happens then we want to be in numbers… As a final thought the ashes are here not too long after the world cup…lets stand together and celebrate who we are
  15. Hi all, My name is Lez.We're coming out to Perth at the begining of December 2010 to have a much needed holiday and to do a rekkie of the area for future migration purposes. Are there any Air con companies out there who's willing to have a chat with me regarding job offers or just some much needed advice from these people in my trade.? We also want to rent a house for the month so if anyone could help us then that would also be much appreciated (with pool !!) Thanks all for your time. Lez, shaz, Jade and Lily-Mai
  16. A bottle of Bells whisky could rise from £14.79 to £23.73 while Gordon's gin, another favourite of middle-class drinkers, would increase from £12.79 to £21.17. Budget 2010: Drinkers face rise in spirits duty - Telegraph MPs called for a return to the level in 1983 when the duty on a litre of pure alcohol was 11 per cent of the average male weekly manual wage, compared with 5 per cent in 2002. Such a move would send Britain to the top of the European league table for spirits tax. :arghh:
  17. Hi All, If there is any one in the Victoria area working in Social Work I would be grateful if you could let me know how the demand is as present? 18. http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/points-test-discussion.pdf Should there be points for family sponsorship? Allocating points for family sponsorship recognises the value of family settlement support. The current Points Test enables applicants with reduced employment prospects and lower levels of human capital to migrate. Birrell et al note that, "offshore migrants who are sponsored - especially those sponsored by family … do least well in obtaining employment soon after arrival. Almost 30 per cent … are not employed. Furthermore, at least a quarter of those who are working are only employed part-time. While we cannot be completely certain of the reason for this lower rate of employment, it is likely that it is caused in part by the less stringent selection criteria that these two concessional categories require.5" Hi Gill what's your comment about above statement?
  19. A much better show I thought, it actually touched on some reality in the middle somewhere (visa application etc) though still rehashed the original family video bit the second family bit touched home more because it was actualy for real. Glad the Whelans made it, they all looked happy.

New rules as of Feb 8th 2010

Hi does anyone understand these new rules/guidlines that have come out today. What is a 'State migration plan'? Have we got to wait three years now for our visa? My husband lodged his 176 visa application in yesterday (7th Feb 2010), and we are unsure of the processing times. It is a State Sponsored visa (not sure if it's on the State migration plan because I have never heard of this), but his occupation is not on the CSL, are we cat 2 or 5?:arghh::unsure:
  21. According to the Minister of Immigration a new MODL will be annnounced on Monday as well as a number of other changes to both the General Skilled Migration programme as well as the temporary business sponsored 457 visa. SOURCE Regards

  23. Hi We are planning a trip back to the UK for just over three weeks, leaving September 14th and back October 7th. We have a lovely 4 bedroom family house in western Brisbane suburbs, and were hoping we could find someone to house swap with in the UK. Can anyone advise on which international home-swapping website is best? It's hard to see any sign of success rates when looking through them. Or are there any alternative ways of finding If anyone from the UK reading this is interested in a house swap, our preferred areas are Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, East Northants, A1 corridor London-Peterborough, or North London. Happy to email photos etc and exchange full info. Thanks for reading and replies Nigel
