Hello from Sydney, This is hot off the press, you guys get this before I even upload it to my web! New MODL effective yesterday 30 July 2007, changes as follows: The following occupations are new to the 'Migration occupations in demand list' Architect 2121-11 Computing professional specialising in sybase SQL 2231-79 External Auditor 2212-11 Quantity Surveyor 2122-11 Aircraft maintenance engineer (Avionics) 4114-15 Aircraft maintenance engineer (mechanical) 4114-11 Locksmith 4115-15 Optical mechanic 4999-11 Painter and decorator 4421-11 There was only 1 occupation that is no longer on the list which is: General electronic instrument (tradesperson) Everyone's happy unless you're a general electronic instrument tradesperson and needed the points. Good to see painter and decorator back on there. Any questions, let me know, happy to help. Regards,

Hi. I'm new to the forum. Some background - my husband and I are both from the UK, although we are currently living in Bermuda (its a tough life) . We have our Australian visa and made the validation trip 2 years ago when we first got the visa. We are planning to move to Sydney in Oct 2007. Is there anyone else planning to move to Sydney around that time? Everyone on Australian expat forums seems to be going everywhere else in Aus except Sydney. I am beginning to think everyone else knows something that we dont.

Hi all We're hoping to get to Perth in november this year and I am now in a panic as I've been looking on a few holiday rental sites just to see what is available as an initial rental for perhaps 6 weeks before we get a more long-term rental property (we need a house as we've 2 kids). However its a very busy time of year and the sites that I've been on to seem fairly booked up. Does anyone have any site addresses that I could try. We're in that stage where we are getting the house ready for sale and aren't really in a postion to book flights/rentals just yet so I'm in a total tizz right now! Anyone else in a similar position or has been in the same position (trust us to have to arrive at the busiest time of the year!) MANDY X :goofy:

Hi everyone, My family and I plan to move to Perth next year. My husband, Bruce, and my two young boys, Luke and Pierce, are Australian Citizens - I'm English. We are bringing with us are 3 Dobermanns, who we show. Our problem is that our dogs will be in Quarantine for 30 days, after this we need somewhere to rent until we can purchase a rural property. We understand the 2 dog per household rule in residential areas. Does anyone have any ideas how we might go about this? If I can not bring my dogs I'm not prepared to make this move, they are a much loved part of my family. We are looking to buy a 5-10 acre plot of land with 4 bed/2 bath house. We would be happy to buy a plot of land and build our home, but we understand that it would probably now be an 18 month period for our home to be built, & with the problems we face with our dogs, this is time we can ill afford. Would be extremely grateful for any feedback. My husband and my boys leave for Perth on Boxing Day, to take a 5 week break and to look at the property situation. I'm to remain in the UK with my dogs - With kind regards, Amanda J. Houstoun
