    BVE or wait for PR

Hi I ceased employment with my 457 Employer Sponsor almost 90 days ago, unfortunately I just found out that they didn't fulfill their obligation to inform the Dept.of Home Affairs (I did tell them). This has meant that I missed out on a job. Anyway, we're awaiting the outcome of a PR application submitted last August and I wondered if anyone had experience of applying for a BVE. My migration agent says I could request online to cancel my 457 but I'm not sure what the process is if I do and could we apply for a bridging visa? I'd rather not be unlawful for any amount of time and I haven't worked for a while now so I don't want my husband to lose his work rights - but I'd definitely like to get back to work! I don't know if we should risk cancelling the 457 or just wait for the PR to be granted? Any and all advice welcome.

    Management Consultant

Hi guys, Just want to know your opinion about my visa. I have MSc in Energy and Resources Management (which includes courses of finance, economy, project management etc.). Just graduated. I have an option to apply for 485 Temporary graduate visa and stay 3 years as I have done MSc by research. But I'm thinking about going straight with PR and in the regional list of SA I have noticed the profession of Management Consultant. What do you reckon, am I eligible or it's kinda difficult to say? Cheers Andy

    Assessment status change

Hi I’ve had a 190 application in since August 17, with CO contact and further information request (and provided) in September. Our status has just changed to ‘Further Assessment’ in progress!- is this just a refresh of the status categories? Thanks

    190 nsw nomination

So I've recently completed my application for NSW nomination for 190 visa. Now I know the wait for processing is around 12 weeks but just wondered if everyone that provides their proof gets an invite or whether anyone had been declined for NSW nomination after completing application form and providing proof and fee?
  5. Hello Sorry for asking but am confused! long week!!! I put in on 25th of January for my expression of interest for a 189 skilled independent visa. I had 65 points - I completed Pearsons Academic and got 90/90 in all 4 sections (20 points) then positive skills assessment for a surgical nurse (ANZSCO 254424) with a degree (15 points) then age 39 until mid july (25 points) and more than 3 but less than 5 years experience in the UK as a nurse (5 points) Having looked and considering my options - I now want to apply for a 190 NSW State sponsorship visa - my skill is on the priority skilled occupation list. So I would have 65 points plus 5 points for state nomination? totaling 70 points?? I wondered do I click on 190 on the immigration page then submit expression of interest on the skill select page there? eg apply for EOI on the 190 immi page? Or do I click on my original Expression of interest (for a 189) and change it to NSW state sponsored? Can I keep both open until I get an invite then cancel the one not invited for sooner? Many thanks - sorry long shift and not getting my head around it!!! Kind regards Saffy x
  6. Hi guys, i have a plan A and plan B, both have been discussed on here. Now there's also potentially a back up plan. In 2002 i passed a Btec National Diploma in Hospitality and Catering Management and then i was a chef for 12 years. Thing is it's been over 4 years since i was a chef so i wondered if this would affect an assessment. I've asked the migration agent who has been advising me at OE (that we're highly likely to be using, i think it's @Richard Gregan who heads up that agency and he's been great too, calling my fiancee and leaving a message on Friday) and i'm waiting on a reply. I could potentially use my career as a chef to obtain a visa and get back in the kitchen! Any advice on this would be welcomed. Thanks, Lewis

  8. Hi all, Its a bit of a long shot but I’m wondering if anyone on this site know anyone or them themselves have successfully applied for permanent skilled migration under Drainer, or who have worked as a Sewer Technician (unblocks, cctv, repair and maintenance work etc) My partner has worked as a sewer technician for 10+ years in the UK, we are currently in Australia on a 457. We are looking into PR via subclass 190 visa but it seems to apply as a ‘Drainer’ you need to have experience and qualifications in Gas and Plumbing also? My partner doesn’t have any gas experience but has some minor plumbing experience but no qualifications. He has qualifications in Jetting and CCTV work etc which we believe aren’t enough for the skill assessment. Any personal experiences from anyone who has been in a similar situation/ any other visa recommendations would be much appreciated!

  12. Hi All,I've applied for VISA 189/190 NSW for ANZSO code 261312 with 70/70+5 NSW points with following break upAge 25Educational Qualifcation 15Australian experience 10Overseas experience 10English 10But after ACS assessment they consider my experience after October 2009, and my overseas experience stand now to 59 months and Australian experience is 37 months . It is not possible to increase my overseas experience as I am working in Sydney. Now after Acs assessment I can claim only 65/65+5 point for 189/190 visa.Luckily i got invite from NSW on basis of 75 point and after submission of the required document to NSW my nomination got approved. My question is can i proceed with VISA filing considering that already I lost 2-3 months during this process, or i should neglect this nomination and create a new application in skill select with 65 points. Any help would be highly appreciated.
  13. This is my first post, although I've read tons of threads on this great forum. So my situation: We've just lodged our State Sponsorship application with Tasmania (through a MARA agent). I have 75 points (80 with the 5 points for state sponsorship). While I provided evidence of at least eight vacancies that I would be able to apply for. I did not have a job offer (I did get a couple replies which stated that they could not consider me as I do not yet have a work visa. I provided these as part of my state sponsorship). We have close friends living in Hobart but no family connection. I've read a few threads of similar situations (but not the same) where 190 hopefuls were offered a 489 visa sponsorship if they didn't have a job offer. We're not keen on the 489 visa as, in our opinion, it carries to much risk (this is a personal opinion and I'm not bashing those who have taken this route). The question is what are our chances? We don't have any of the three key requirements but have high points and a genuine intention of settling and contributing to Tasmania (which I hope I communicated well enough in my statement of intention). Our MARA agent has been pretty vague saying 'they have lodged before without a job offer' (whether those lodged were successful or not is another question). Would be keen on hearing any similar situations or advice.

    Papers requested by case officer

Hello everyone, my certificate of experience is issued from governmental body & I had it authenticated by ministry of state & the Australian embassy here in Egypt. Would that be enough evidence for the case officer? I'm asking this because I can't get any other evidence of experience.

    Help - question regarding points

Hey everybody. I've looked all through the forum archives to try and find an answer to my query so i didn't have to start a new thread but i've had no joy. You get points for qualifications, but do the qualifications have to be relevant to the occupation? My girlfriend will be the primary applicant as veterinary nurse but she has a BA Degree in Textiles - will that degree get her further points or does she have to use the qualification attached to vet nursing? it's much lesser and will give less points. Thanks, Lewis
  18. Hi, everyone. I want to know that if I apply for a state nomination onshore and receive it during my overseas vacation(offshore). In this circumstance, can I lodge the 190 visa application offshore? or I need to do it until I back to Australia? Are there any regulations or case about that? Thanks very much for your help.

Where have all the visa grants gone?!

Hi everyone, So, I can't help but notice that October grants are well below the usual grant rate? I know September was a massive month (one of the trackers reporting as many as 270 PR grants in the month) much more than the usual, but so far in October less than a handful. Does anyone know why this might be? Even if you don't include September its still way below the average. I could make some assumptions about why but, if anyone has more experience or has some information that would be great!
