Where have all the visa grants gone?!

Hi everyone, So, I can't help but notice that October grants are well below the usual grant rate? I know September was a massive month (one of the trackers reporting as many as 270 PR grants in the month) much more than the usual, but so far in October less than a handful. Does anyone know why this might be? Even if you don't include September its still way below the average. I could make some assumptions about why but, if anyone has more experience or has some information that would be great!

    PR as General Accountant

Hi, I'm Shekhar Mehta from Kolkata, India. This topic is in regards to getting an invite with 75 points and entire processing time taken by DIBP after the invite for Permanent Residency File Under section 189, 190 and 489 for General Accountant. I submitted my academics and experience documents along with my PTE scores of 70-W, 75-L, 79-R and 90-S to CPA Australia for my skill assessment on 6th June, 2017. I got a reply from them on 6th July, 2017 stating that I need to pass two papers namely Financial Accounting and Reporting and Business Law to get a positive outcome for my assessment as General Accountant. I appeared for FAR on 4th August, 2017 and Business Law on 24th August, 2017 and cleared both the examinations. I submitted a supplementary form to CPA Australia on 24th, August, 2017 for updating my assessment and on 6th September, 2017 I received a positive outcome on my skill assessment for academics and Employment. I took my PTE Academic examination again on 18th September, 2017 and got my result on 21st September, 2017 with scores of S-90, W-81, R-83, L-81. I lodged my EOI on 21st September, 2017 with 75 points. Age - 30 Education - 15 Experience - 10 English - 20 When can I expect an invite for 189 and 190 (NSW) and is there any chance of getting PR with the points I have as I got to know from different forums that its pretty difficult to get an invite with 75 points. Again, how long it takes for the entire process and are there chances of rejection from DIBP after invite. Kindly reply on it guys. Any help would be greatly appreciated by me. Thanks.

    Do points make a difference?

Hi Just wondering if anyone knows whether points make a difference? Do applications get processed if they pass the threshold in order of receipt or do they get assessed more quickly if you have more points?

    Initial Entry - 190 Visa

I had received my and my family PR on state sponsorship(190-visa) from Queensland in Feb 2017 and have an initial entry date of 17 Nov 2017.Due to some personal reasons I can't relocate permanently now. I will be relocating by September 2018. But considering the implications of the initial entry, I am planning to visit Brisbane, Australia in Oct 2017. I have a few queries regarding all this. Please let me know If I can delay my initial entry or not If it is mandatory to travel, then any recommendations / suggestions regarding the first entry. Shall I register with Medicare and Centerlink or TAX??? Also any suggestion of cheap tickets from Lahore to Brisbane. Thanks and waiting for recommendations and response

    Should we get a container?

Me, my hubbie and our 2.5 year old are moving on a 190 visa from Manchester to Brisbane in September. We are hoping to sell / bin / charity shop the majority of our stuff but still have a few items of furniture, pictures, clothes etc that we would like to take. I think half a container would be more than large enough to fit in everything. My question is does anyone know roughly how much this would cost and also do any firms offer space in a container rather than having to have the whole thing or half?. Also we are thinking of just paying 6 months rent up front once we have found a place - does anyone have any experience of this? Is it the norm if you have no Australian credit history, previous address etc? Any advice would be great!
  11. Hello friends,Would anyone be able to point me to a source where I could see the online application form for the 190 visa, so I can prepare all the answers prior to getting an invite?I searched online found a video showing the 189 questions (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBWrg9ksAmo). If the 190 visa application form is the same as the 189 one that should suffice.Kind Regards
  12. Hi all, My Victoria SS has been successfully, so can now apply for a 190 visa. However, I'm due to travel back to the UK shortly and need clarification regarding the travel limitations. If I apply now, will a bridging visa B be required before I can re-enter the country (even though my current 457 has not expired)? I'm seeing lots of conflicting information online with either: Upon 190 application, I will be granted a bridging visa (A) and even though my 457 has not expired, I will still require a bridging visa B in to re-enter. As my 457 has not expired, I will stay on the 457 and the bridging visa A will just remain inactive - meaning I can still re-enter as per the usual 457 rules If anyone is able to clear this up then that would be great. Also, when it says you have 60 days to apply from invitation, does that mean I can start the application now, but it just needs to submitted within 60 days? As from starting the application to completion, are there any limitations on travel? Thanks
  13. Hello everyone, need help regarding work experience for 190 PR. I have bachelor's degree & 7 years of experience in last 10 years in the same field. Previous 5 Years Job - Appointment letter, job experience & salary slips available - IT returns & from 60 available Last 2 Years - Freelancing & self-employment (same field) - Payment was taken in personal bank account - Have personal IT returns - Client testimonials & reference letters available - No company registration - No current account QUESTION - Someone told me that you must have current account and business registration to count the above experience as self-employed - Based on above data is my Freelancing work experience eligible for 190 PR? Thanks in advance for your help.
  14. Hi guys, I've moved to Canberra to try and apply for a visa 190 as a Graphic Designer. I'm looking to apply in Feb 2018. The criteria for me to be eligible is: -Working full time for an ACT employer in your nominated occupation for at least six months immediately before applying for ACT nomination. Student visa holders (with visa condition 8104) working 20 hours per week are deemed to meet the full time criterion. Since I'm currently working as a sole trader/contractor (freelance graphic designer), I was wondering if this is still ok when applying for the visa or do I have to get a full-time job? Thanks!

    Nomination process

I was nominated for the 457 visa on 11th February 2017, will this mean that I will fall under the new rules and not the original 457 process ? I am a hairdresser and my trade has been removed and is now only available on the (CSOL) list for the 2 years visa without PR. What other options are there to move perminatly to australia. My mother, auntie and five cousins are all ether citizens or have PR.

    Skilled Occupations List April 2017

Only certain occupations are approved for use under Australia’s permanent and temporary skilled visa programmes. These occupations are listed in a legislative instrument that contains two schedules or ‘occupation lists’ that apply to different visa programmes. On 19 April 2017, the: Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) replaced the previous ‘Skilled Occupation List’ (SOL) and is available in Schedule 1 of the relevant legislative instrument Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) replaced the previous ‘Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List’ (CSOL) and is available in Schedule 2 of the relevant legislative instrument. The information below explains which lists are relevant for particular visa programmes. Information is also provided about occupations that were removed from the list of eligible skilled occupations on 19 April 2017. Note: different eligible occupation arrangements are in place for the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa (subclass 186). 190 visa restrictions

Hi all I just got my skills assessment outcome today, everything positive, so I got 15 points from my degree and 10 points from my 5 years oversea experience. And I'm at age of 29, so I got another 30 points, which gives me 55 points in total. 1. I've seen from other webpage claims that 190 has no different with 189, as the 2 years restrictions is so called "moral obligation". Is that statement true? 2. In my previous IELTS test I got 6.5 for writing, the rest above 7. My next scheduled test is 2 weeks later. I'm planning to lodge in EOI now, if I manage to get additional points from IELTS then I'll update my EOI by then. Is that the right thing to do? Any better advise? By the way, I'm a Civil Engineer (233211). Thanks. Fuch
  18. As abrupt as Turnbull's new 457 changes are to those planning to apply for 457, I think the changes are causing more stress and concern to existing 457 holders/applicants looking to stay permanently in Aus via one of the 3 PR visas available. With the modified 2-year, short term occupation list, over 200 occupations are no longer available and even those that remained will only have one on-shore renewal available with no PR route. Question/survey is, how are these changes affecting your decision to stay in Aus or becoming an Australian citizen? Are you already looking at possibilities of relocating or moving back to your previous country of residence? Particularly for those over 40 and/or with families. Trying to see others' viewpoints and options that we (as individuals) might not have thought of.

    PCC - worried about cautions

Hi Folks, Applied for 190 visa on 20/3/17, was asked to provide more work history, form 80 and medical on 28/3/17 . Everything submitted by 10/4/17, medical clearance on 12/4/17. Just wondering.. my partner had 4 cautions on his UK police check from more than 5 years ago - will this affect the visa at all? If so, how? How long normally does it take to hear back from all submitted paperwork for visa grant? Will 3 arrests be an issue? Feeling nervous.. Thanks x
  20. Hi Everyone, I've been reading through this forum for a little while and know that you can all offer really helpful advice! So I have a question which I have tried googling and looking through pomsinoz for, but can't seem to find a concrete answer for (no doubt somebody will tell me I've been blind! ) Myself and my husband (me as main applicant) are looking at applying for the 190 skilled independent visa with NSW state nomination. I am a chartered accountant with 4 years post qualified experience and would get maximum points for age. If I aim for superior english results in IELTS (I'm sure this is no mean fete) and my husband can get his skills assessed (15 years in IT but with few notable qualifications) then I am hopeful of 80 points (inclusive of the 5 for state nomination). Even so I am aware of the length of time this can take and was hoping to be over there by the end of the year, so finally I get to my actual question - could I get a working holiday visa whilst I am waiting for the 190 and go to Sydney and be finding work on that? I am still within the age range, and it was the original plan to just go out on a WHV and hope for sponsorship, but with recent changes to temporary visas we are looking at setting the ball rolling on a pr visa now. But I would still like to be getting out to Oz sooner rather than later. I am sure I have seen that people go out on a WHV and then apply for pr whilst onshore, so I assume this would be no different? I just haven't found a case of somebody who applied for pr from the uk, then applied for a WHV and travelled to Australia whilst awaiting the pr visa outcome. Has anybody done this, or known somebody who has? Sorry for the rambling, I just hope somebody can help me shine a light on this. Many Thanks

  22. Do you have a PhD? Holders of a recognised PhD now have a streamlined pathway to permanent residence. The Victorian Government has introduced a new pathway to state nomination through the Skilled Nominated 190 visa. To be eligible, applicants will need to: have completed a PhD in at a Victorian University and have an occupation on the Department of Immigration and Citizenship’s Consolidated Skilled Occupation List (CSOL) Schedule 1 and 2; or have completed a doctorate of a recognised standard (as determined by the relevant skill assessing authority) in a field relating to an occupation on the State Nomination Occupation List for Victoria. Applicants must also be eligible to apply for General Skilled Migration and meet all other state nomination eligibility requirements. There are a limited number of nominations available. 23. Hi all, Very helpful forum. Has anyone here used true blue migration? They have a no visa no fee policy. I will be applying for Victoria state nomination 190 visa as life scientist nec. I submitted my skills assessment with Vetassess 9 weeks ago and I will sit IELTs in 3 weeks. I live and work in Qld with my partner (both on WHV) since July. I will be applying from QLD. The Victorian state nomination website states you need a job offer but when I called they said it's not completely necessary as long as I convince then I want to live there. So I will write a letter with friends address and number in Melbourne (who I will live with) and a list of jobs applied for and a contract from my current job stating that I will finish in March and my employers number to confirm this. True blue have quoted me 2200 despite the fact that I've done a huge amount of it already. Any suggestions??? Or has anyone used True Blue before. I really want this PR visa but don't want to risk doing the state nomination part alone in case I don't get it but it's a lot of extra money. Sarah

    Rejected Visa...

Hey, I applied for a 190 visa, after getting nominated by Victoria. I have just recieved my rejection due to me getting 5 points rather than 15... their reasons were that I do not have a degree and therefore 5 years of my work experience is invalid...? I am applying for a 263111 Computer Network and Systems Engineer, and cannot understand the rejection. Does anyone else have experience of this? Thanks Colin
