  1. Hi everybody, I applied for a family sponshored visa on Feb 3,2011 and received on March 18th the famous letter, stating that within three months our case will be allocated to a CO, but I am still waiting!!! Does anyone who received this letter have a CO asigned? Best regards!
  2. Can any one help ... I have been racking my brains as to why family sponsor has been moved to cat 4 and yet state sponsor is cat 3. I understand the reasoning behind it , that diac wants to put people into specific states to fill the need for required trades/skills, but over the last few months I have been reading some post and it seems if you decide to change state once visa has been granted there is nothing that the diac can do ! Surley anyone considering applying for a 176 visa will opt for state sponsor over family and then go wherever they like . Is this the case ?
  3. hi All, I have been searching these forums for a while and cant seem to find anyone in a similar position. I wonder if anyone can help... I have applied for a 176 visa with defacto partner but its looking likely that we will not be able to produce the 12 months relationship evidence for them, they have already requested more and we have submitted futher stat decs and some phone bills. i have a feeling that they will reject my partner access on the 176. My question is if they reject him can I still continue with the 176 visa? He is 28 so can still get a WHV then we can apply for a defacto on shore next year. I am a bit worried that if they reject him they will throw out the whole application:eek:

    176 Application Questions

Hi, First of all apologies if this has come up before but I cannot find the answers using the search. So I am waiting for my State Sponsorship to be approved at the moment and I have a few queries: 1. Can I apply for my medical now before I have even lodged the 176? Is this a good idea bearing in mind I will be doing the online application? 2. The 176 asks for employment in your allocated occupation in the last 12 Months. How do I go about proving this without informing my current employer? Thanks Luke

    176 Obligation!! Dilemma!!

Hi all I have been granted SC176 (SA Sponsored) at May,2011. Since then i am trying to search job at Adelaide from oversea. No luck not that much opening at my profession. Most of the opening at Sydney or Melbourne. After 2 months, i decided to drop my cv for other state and has managed to give two phone interview with two employer at (Melbourne,Perth). And got a real good offer from Melbourne Employer. Now i am planning to move Melbourne first, after 6 month i will try to search job at SA, if will get move there to fulfill my moral obligation. My question is , should i inform SA Immigration office about my circumstances and decision now? Or when i will move there just let them know, may be after 6 months? If i keep silent all the time staying at AUS, (may be i will never get any job offer from SA), what will be the circumstance? I am in a bit mental pressure head says go to melbourne get the job started secured life. Or go to Adeliade... doing nothing, be in more pressure....:confused: Help, advise will be very much appreciable. Thanks Scorion

    176 question

Hi I applied for a 176 Family Sponsored visa back in August 2009. I decided to go the State Sponsored route (SA) at the beginning of 2011 so as to move to a higher priority processing group only to have my application rejected due to my IELTS result being 2 years and 10 days old when they got round to considering my application (8 weeks after my paperwork was submitted). After getting over that disappointment, I have redone my IELTS and applied again last week. This of course all takes time and in the mean time the rules have changed again. My question is, that should my application for SS from SA be approved, do I need to make a new visa application to DIAC under the new points test or will it simply be a case of upgrading me as I already have a 176 visa application in the system. Before July 2011 it was pretty clear that I could go this way due to my original application being pre July 2010 but post July 2011 the wording on the web site is a bit ambiguous. All advice much appreciated. Regards Sebastian

    176 lodged AFTER 1 July 2011?

Hello! Just wondering if there are many people who have lodged an application AFTER 1 July who have been assigned a CO yet? The new guidelines for processing times say 12-24 months but I read about someone who had a CO two weeks after submitting so wondering if it's just a way to ensure they meet their targets. Can't face another winter in the UK but don't want to go to NZ if there is a chance that it could be only a few months till we get our visa. I know that no-one can answer this for me but am just looking for examples Thanks!
  8. the new SOL ( schedule 1 & 2) doesnt mentioned if its for family sponsored skilled applicant so what skill list will this applicant will refer to? thou in the priority page of the diac it was mentioned that for relative sponsored "that has the job code in schedule 1" they will be process like for instance in my case in the july 2010 SOL my skill is on schedule 4 list (relative sponsor) it is now on schedule 2 ( state nomination) sched 2 doesnt says if it is also applicable for relative sponsor for your comment guys please

Child Care Rebates on a 176

Hi all, Now I've seen mentioned before that although you can't get LAFHA on a 176, there are other tax breaks you can get, and rebates for child care. Can anyone explain more - I have a tax calculator, but that doesn't include childcare obviously.
  10. Does anyone know if it's possible to find out which priority category your application has been given? If I can confirm this I can be sure of the timescales for the processing of my application. I applied 18/03/2011 and the E-Visa online system just says 'processing commenced'. I don't know the expected timescales as I'm unsure of the priority my application has been given. Thanks

    176 lodged August 2011 Gang

Hi, Due to the changes in July, large volumes of the applications were submitted in Apr/June hence not much activity in July. Hopefully things will start looking up for everyone. We lodge our application today Allocation date for GSM Applications http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/estimated-allocation-times.htm 02/08/2011 mansukhpatel - SA
  12. Hi, I'm looking to apply for a 176 Visa ACT sponsored. I have been told I qualify and I am looking around for agents and in forums like this for advice. My main query is I have been offered voluntary redundancy and by taking it what impact, if any, would there be on my application? In terms of timing my last day in the office would be 31st October, but I would be placed on 3 months gardening leave - so i guess technically it would be 31st January. I don't have to take the package now but it would make the move to Australia possible financially and I don't know if I would be offered the redundancy package again in the future. Help! Stuart
  13. Hello all Could anyone shed some light on the following: Will state sponsorship be refused if you are locked into a current employment contract? I'm currently serving with the RAF and my end of service date is the start of October 2012. I have been told by my emigration agent that they have not had any issues with this in the past. However I have been informed once by an outside emigration agent that I may be refused the 176 visa as I'm still serving with the RAF and under contract. We are now at the point of lodging our visa applicantion and would not like to find out that we have wasted our money. Also we don't want to delay the application and face the possibility that my occupation is removed from the State sponsorship list. Currently there are only two States available to us. Any information would be gratefully received. Many thanks Ian and Debbie

  15. Hi I'm new to the site so please go easy with me..... I'm looking to moving to Australia in the near future and been in touch with a few migration agents via the internet (that provide a free assessment) They have all come back to advise I'm eligible to migrate on a 176 visa. - I think I want some impartial advise before I part with my hard earned money I'm 31 married with 2 young children. I've worked as an IT helpdesk engineer (On skills list as 313112 ICT customer support officer) for around 7 years and have relevant qualifications in this field. My job is currently listed on the skilled list for only ACT (Canberra) and they say I should get a points score of 70 (pass mark 65) Could anyone advise me if I was to make the move what are the chances of me getting a job in Canberra as I've had a look via job sites and most of them state 'Australian Citizens Only' and security clearance required I know people say Canberra is boring etc etc but this is the only state willing to sponsor me.... We would prefer to move to another part but I suppose I'm just happy someone wants me I moved out to Perth, WA with my now ex-wife 6 years ago and found work easy but unsure to make the move if I'm going to struggle to find work. Any advice would be fantastic thanks for your help

    Subclass 176 - Queries

Hi All, I am Chaitanya from Bangalore, India. I am 25 years of age. have 3 years of exp in my relevant industry(Software Developer). I have cleared ACS on 17th July 2011 with positive response for ANZSCO for 261312(Developer Programmer). So to reach the pass marks of "65" for DIAC, below are the points that I meet: Age: 30 Experience: 5 Degree: 15 ------------------ Total: 50 So i am short of "15" points to apply for DIAC for my 176. My Plans: Plan 1: To get IELTS band 8 in all modules, so that i get 20 points(making my points total to 70) Plan 2: 1. If I manage to only get IELTS 7 in all bands which will fetch me 10 points(making my points total: 60) 2. Then will apply for State sponsership to get the remaining 5 points(making the total:65) Queries: 1. Seniors expats, please advise on both the plans? 2. May I know the the duration of time taken if i apply for State sponsership, after how many months can i expect a reply from the State about the state sponsership? Thanks & Regards, Chaitanya

Payment of 176 Visa - Dilemma

Hi there, I wondered if anyone can help. I will be paying for my 176 visa online (£1880!!!) but I dont have a credit card, I never have had one either! Would I be able to give a friend/family member the money and use their card do you think? Or will I have to get a card just for this? Thanks. Luke
  20. Hi All, I am planning to apply for a student visa for next Feb'11 session. Meanwhile i also want to apply for State sponsored 176 visa. I know 176 visa takes at least 6 months. I don't want to wait that long and would like to start my masters in Sydney shortly. Now, Is there any conflict between the student visa and the 176 visa? Also, suppose i study in Sydney and then apply for Western Australia state sponsored 176 application, is there any problem ? Grateful for any expert advises / information. Cheers Karder

    Pls help - I'm confused!

Hi, this is my first post so please be gentle!! I'm hoping some of you will be able to give me some advice/guidance on what to do, my situation is as follows (& apologies in advance for the length of this post!) I am currently a student nurse, due to start my third, and final, year of study in Sept. I was intending to complete my course, get three years experience, apply for state sponsership and then apply for a 475 visa. All the time keeping my fingers, toes and everything else crossed that there were no further changes..... However; I picked up a copy of the Oz & NZ mag which has a breakdown of the new points system which I "think" means I could apply now for a 176 visa, using my previous occupation of Hotel Manager, which is a role I still undertake in a part time capacity to enable me to study the nursing - see confusing!! I worked out my points as: Age (40) = 15 English = 20 (Obviously will need to get IELTS sorted) Employment = 15 (Have worked as a hotel manager for 18 years) Qualifications = 10 (Need to get HND & experience assessed) State Nomination (NT) = 5 Total = 65 So, I'm looking for some advice as to whether I should apply now or wait? If I do go ahead, what order do I need to do things in? I'm thinking: IELTS, VETASSESS, SS, then Visa app, is this right? Any advice would be gratefully appreciated and many thanks for taking the time to read this very long post!! Angela
  23. 176 eVisa has been lodged. Case Officer has been assigned. Supporting docs have been uploaded. Had an email from CO confirming that everything we have sent to date is sufficient and that our application will be put on hold until after our baby is born at the end of Sept. If anyone else has been through a similar process, could you share with me roughly how long afterwards did the process take. We plan to register her birth asap. Does a birth cert alone suffice or will we need to get her a passport as well. Once we've notified our CO of her birth, I will then be able to go for my medicals & we'll submit our police checks at the same time. How long should it take after that to get an answer. Cheers
  24. Hi, Just a bit unsure about an e mail just received by DIAC. Hoping someone can help? It starts by confirming our visa application (which we lodged in June 2009), then goes on to tell us the documents that we need to attach if we haven't already. I attached all the ones that were in the document checklist on our online status, (ages ago)' but I noticed there are a couple of forms that aren't on this checklist. Form 80 and form 1221. What should I do? Stick to the online appliacation status checklist, or follow this e mail? Also a bit unsure why it has been sent at this time? (my family sponsor has just lodged their online form, so maybe this is the reason for the email?) It doesnt say!
