When did the school curriculum ever teach financial management unless you opted to take economics? when did they teach you about life outside of school and prepare you for real life . I remember being interviewed by the careers teacher asking me what my father did ,chief engineer on a oil tanker oh he drives a lorry was the reply no I said a marine engineer what’s that I got back. I remember well back in 92 struggling to get work having to choose pay mortgage , food on table or money in electric meter and a young baby to feed . The baby always got fed. unfortunately some people just can’t manage money or run a household budget and this is never taught in school which imho should be

I know a lot of people in the UK in that situation.....my best friend being one. She works in education, he's unskilled on min wage. They've never been able to afford to buy a house. No savings. My brother and sister in law, she's a nurse, he's a service engineer. Renting no savings. I think it's hard to get ahead in the UK. It was for us. We are financially streets ahead of where we were in the UK and I couldn't see that changing. I'm glad we came here if only for that reason. Just to be comfortable. Not worry about every last thing I bought. I asked my boss are we getting a pay rise this year, not really expecting one but yes, they are managing to give us a small cost of living increase. We have never had a year without less than 1.5% raise in nearly 12 years. Same can't be said for my UK friends and fam sadly. Can only call it as I see it.

Case officer’s have been diverted to the priority application including Regional, Family visa as well as Global talent visa , that is one of the main reason why the no. of grant in 186 has reduced drastically, i am afraid for some months things will not improve . I am not sure for me i can go with software engineer job code also but starting all process again will also be time consuming starting from skill assessment(ACS)

    ACS Skills Assessment Query

Hello Everyone, I have a question about my situation....I am a Canadian Cyber Security Specialist and am interested in migrating to Australia. I have looked at having my education and work experience assessed by ACS but I am a bit confused as to the best approach. I have a four-year Bachelor's Degree in Electronics and Communication (2008), followed by a two year fast-track Advanced Diploma in Computer Systems Technology - Networking (2012). In between these qualifications, between 2008 and 2010 respectively, I worked as a technical support engineer (1year) and a lecturer (4 months). As you guys will be aware, the nature of IT is very dynamic, with IT professionals responding to rapid advances/changes in technology through upskilling/moving laterally across platforms as demand for certain areas within IT changes over time. This is acutely reflected in the move to Cloud and resulting increase in demand for Security Professionals over the past 5 years. My career has thus far progressed from networking into security and my experience consists of the following: Systems Engineer (ANZSCO Code 263111 - Length of experience: 4 months) Network Analyst (ANZSCO Code 263113 - Length of experience: 2.5 years) Network Administrator (ANZSCO Code 263112 - Length of experience: 1 year) Security Analyst/Engineer (ANZSCO Code 262112 - Length of experience: 3 years) From my reading, I would apply to the ACS to be assessed under "Skill" as an ICT Security Specialist. If so, will my other IT experience count towards meeting the "Skill Level Requirement Date"? Could I be deemed as starting from August 2017, or, even worse, be seen as not having the relevant academic background (it is only in the last 5 years that solely security-based IT courses have begun to be offered by third-level institutions) and instead need to apply under RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning)? Is there a way that my experience, particularly in the area of networking, can be recognised and counted by the ACS? Combined, I have over 8 years experience. I want to ensure that my application to the ACS can result in the most favourable outcome possible, particularly in relation to my work experience. I would greatly appreciate any guidance you guys can give me. Thanks in advance,

Onshore applicant here - My 186 application was submitted on 21st Sept 2020 and I was assigned a case officer on 9th October 2020 and subsequently, My nomination was also approved on 9th Oct. I was requested by the CO to submit additional documents. Requested info: - evidence of registration/lisencing and - evidence of work expereince (payslips, PAYG summary, Notice of Assessment). I have supplied this now and I also completed my health assessment on 10th Oct in Melbourne. My MARA agent thinks we could get a positive news within the next 2-3 weeks. So lets see what the turnaround now is. Fingers crossed. ________ Additional details: I'm an onshore applicant; nominated occupation - "Professional Engineer (nec)" with accredited sponsor (applications are usually processed a bit quicker than usual from what I'm told)

  17. Hi, My family and I were granted our visas (189 for me) almost 2 years ago, and we had planned on emigrating at the start of 2021 from the UK to Australia. However, due to Corona Virus and travel restrictions in place does anybody know if you can still travel to Australia or must you have an exemption to be able to enter? I am trying to work out our timeline for moving and could push back the move till Summer 2021, however, I am still uncertain whether we would be allowed in unless I can secure a Travel Exemption. My working visa is based on me working as a Civil Engineer. I have researched the immigration website and can't find any clear answers or contact details so that I can ask the question. Furthermore, we need to have moved to Australia by October 2021 so that we can ensure we have lived in Australia for 2 out of the 5 years the visa is valid so we can more easily apply for a resident return visa after that date, hence why I am concerned about how our planned move to Australia will go now. I'd be grateful for any advice if anybody else is in a similar position and has found the answers I was unable to. Many thanks, Sarah

    Any fellow Engineers in here?

Hi, I'm currently a commissioning engineer for a large gas turbine OEM (supplying mainly oil & gas and energy sectors) and looking to find out more about the industry in Australia, in particular the best areas for my type of work, and what sort of salary I could expect? I have already realised employer sponsorship would be nigh-on impossible. Perth seems an obvious choice for the oil & gas jobs, and my own company have offices in both Melbourne and Sydney (so could be a possibility of employer sponsorship if I'm still working for them at the time) - add in the fact we are childless (and intend on being) and very social then we are very much looking for that "city life". I've had a quick look at visas and would both be looking at skilled visas (missus is in mental health nursing) as both our occupations are on the SOL (I believe I would be eligible for state sponsorship too) - I have 21 years experience in engineering in various roles, and I have a bachelor degree which I have confirmed is accredited. Only thing against me is my age (will be 40-44 when we intend on moving). I guess I could take one of the English proficiency tests if i needed the extra 10 points? Skill-wise, my degree is in Mechanical Engineering, as is my apprenticeship, but currently working in controls (PLCs) and electrical (instrumentation) with limited exposure to valves, compressors etc. Anyway, look forward to hearing the thoughts of any fellow professional engineers

Hello guys, I just want to say that the PR process is to push your patience to the limit. There is nothing you can do besides waiting but please ensure you are consistent in documentation & write up of the documents you submit. I think it is also about how confident you are with your application which definitely helps you go through it. I have just received my 186 DE visa half an hour ago. My timeline was as follows: All applications & monitoring done through agent. Visa : 186 DE Nomination Applied : 11 MAY 2020 Visa Applied : 14 MAY 2020 Onshore : Yes State: VIC No. of applicants : 2 Role : CIVIL ENGINEER 233211 Medicals completed: 14 July 2020 Case officer appointed: 17 July 2020, requested further information same day (overseas police check expired, reference letters from overseas & letter from Australian Employer to show that job is still available, proof from firm to show financial capability to support the nominee) Documents submitted to CO: 12 AUG 2020 Nomination approval: 14 AUG 2020 Requested for extension to submit visa documents: 14 AUG 2020 (Australian police check expired - took 2 weeks to be delivered, Name wrongly written on overseas police check) Submitted documents to CO: 28 AUG 2020 Waited for nearly a month... reading the threads on this forum. Visa status: Granted 23 SEPT 2020 All the best to those who are still waiting. I am sure you are not far from receiving your permanent residency.
