  1. It depends on which Council you belong to. It's common to have to wait 6 months to be invited to a ceremony so I wouldn't worry just yet.
  2. The documents need to be uploaded to your application.
  3. As at 13 May 2022, there were 2,369 people whose applications for Australian citizenship by conferral had been approved and who were waiting to attend an Australian citizenship ceremony conducted by Wyndham City Council (VIC). Of these, 2,049 were approved prior to 2 May 2022. There were 480 people invited to attend the Australian citizenship ceremony held on 8 May 2022 by Wyndham City Council (VIC).
  4. Attached is the list of people waiting for a citizenship ceremony in Australia as at 27 May 2022 by state and council. The backlog at some councils is simply astonishing so unless DHA organises mass ceremonies for citizenship day (17 September) many people will be waiting for a year or longer to become citizens after being approved. Unfortunately I live in one of those councils. fa-220501033-document-released (1).pdf
  5. It depends on the officer but in general they ask for your passport, drivers licence and birth certificate. Some ask for your Medicare card and a recent bill to check your address. You should take with you all the documents you uploaded with your application because they can ask for any of them (Identity form, police certificate, etc.).
  6. 1. Yes, you can fly out. However, you are supposed to notify DHA of your travel dates and you won't receive a test invite while you are overseas. If you are planning to be away for a short period of time I would not tell them. I missed my turn in the queue because I did and they didn't send me an invite until 3 weeks after I got back. 2. You can definitely fly out after being approved. If you receive a ceremony invite and you can't attend you can contact your Council or DHA to postpone the date if necessary. You just need to make sure that you attend a ceremony within a year of approval or it can be cancelled.
  7. Victorian applications from May 2021 are currently receiving appointments for interview and citizenship test. Two people from Brimbank council who applied on 9 and 11 May 2021 received their invites on 25 May 2022. So, you should expect an invite in the next few weeks.
  8. People who applied on 9 and 11 May 2021 from Brimbank, Victoria, have received an invitation for test and interview today. Most applications up to 11 May 2021 have received invites by now. They have been processing 6 to 8 weeks worth of applications from Victoria every month so you might receive your invite in July 2022.
