  1. Hi Paul, Thanks for the response. So just to clarify, my partner just needs to agree that he will sponsor/ support me without any proof of financial ability to do that (for instance, job, savings etc)? I'm just going on the Australian Home Affairs Immigration website that says that the sponsor's obligations include providing accommodation and financial assistance for the first two years after the visa has been granted. We seem to have mistakenly assumed that there would be a dollar amount attributed to this rather than just a goodwill agreement to provide sponsorship? Many thanks
  2. Hi, My partner and I are looking to move to Australia in the next couple of years- I am British and he is Australian, though has been living in the UK for nearly 20 years. Does anyone know if he would be required to sponsor me so that I can apply for a partner visa (801/820 or 309/100- have not yet decided)? If so we are confused about how this works as he is UK based and other than a tax file number has no ties to Australia. Do we need to provide proof of a certain amount of savings to show that we can support ourselves in Australia? Any advice on where to start would be welcome.
