Anyone who’s had a 491 granted but hasn’t been able to travel to Australia may want to check their emails as we received notification today the our visas have been extended by 3 years to 2028. I hope everyone is getting this news.

Have you got your present in person letter through? Ours came through and now it’s job hunt time.

Have you got a case office officer? I’d check with them. Any queries we had with our further evidence or documents were answered promptly and reasonably by our case officer. good luck

That's good to know, we used a Notary Public for information that was requested at the assessment stage. We have that stuff to hand anyway I think, so hopefully they won't pull something out of the hat for our application. Just a waiting game, an expensive and not much fun waiting game.

Hi @Coxy7 If you don't mind me asking, what documents have they requested that you get certified? Thanks Nic

Update, Found a buyer for our house, AHPRA Registration started, Travel Exemption application explicitly asks for Australian employer details for the critical job. I'm not sure if this is new, as some have said they got an exemption without having a job offer. Time to start looking for a house to rent here in the UK.

Hi all, We waited about 3 months to get through the assessment stage and have now started the registration process. @2006deant, your 9 weeks wait for the further information request sounds to be a standard timescale according to other forums, so that is what we are setting our stall by. @Coxy7, @2006deant, you have both mentioned the missing NMC and crime check info. Has this caused an issue or were they just not looking hard enough? Way back when we started this process, our immigration agent said that the AHPRA was the last thing to do and will only take a few months from start to finish. Even with that advice being given before Covid, I'm feel like we have really missed a trick in not starting the registration process a lot sooner, considering the timescales some are experiencing (such are your 6 months to this point). Although, this is the time of year over there when the majority of native nurses are getting their registrations renewed (due to the end of their academic year and course graduations being around this point). If this is creating a bottleneck then it should clear rather than persisting. @girlwander -how are you approaching the travel exemption challenge? Good luck to us all,

AHPRA have had all the additional documents from us since the end of March. Everyone online appears to be having different experiences of how long it is all taking so there really is no telling at the moment. We are looking at September, if it wasn't for the travel restrictions then it would be June due to the timing of certain things. October 28th is our 12 month deadline on entering to activate the visa. Have you been to Queensland before? I spent some time there on my gap year and worked in Brisbane for a few weeks on my way south. Great city, loads to do.

Hi, I think we have met on another thread, so apologies if you've said before, but what is the occupation that you have found employment under? Were you successful with an agency as well? If so, which one? Thanks for the message Nic

Hi @Craig Colas Sorry to hear that you have been unsuccessful with the exemption applications. When you say that your wife's university are dragging their feet; is this over information that you have requested from them or have AHPRA advised you that they are waiting for something? Which university are you referring to? Out of interest, if you don't mind me asking. Which state is sponsoring you? Nic
