  1. Hi Everyone, sharing the good news and my timeline. Just got my 186 approved this morning! Keep up believing on your case. It's overwhelming, it kills us all inside, anxiety goes through the roof, but eventually it happens. ____________________________________________________________ 186 DE Occupation: Production Engineer Nomination & Visa Applied: 27 Nov 2019 s56 Required additional information for Visa application: 17 Jan 2020 S56 Required additional information for Nomination application: 21 Jan 2020 Additional docs submitted: 10 Feb 2020 Visa & nomination granted (Status FINALISED): 17 Feb 2020
  2. Hi M A Z, yeah, the "last update" field was still 17th Jan, but last night my MA reviewed the Visa & nomination and now the system shows las update 10th Feb and both status changed to Further Assessment. ____________________________________________________________ 186 DE (I have been previously working with the 485 postgraduate visa for 2ys in this company, MSA positive by EA in Oct 2019, EA membership member grade in Jan 2020) Occupation: Production Engineer Nomination & Visa Applied: 27 Nov 2019 s56 Required additional information for Visa application: 17 Jan 2020 --> Status changed to Initial assessment S56 Required additional information for Nomination application: 21 Jan 2020 --> Status changed to Initial assessment Additional docs submitted: 07 Feb 2020 Visa status: Further Assessment (since 10th feb 2020) Nomination status: Further Assessment (since 10th feb 2020)
  3. hey guys, quick question: Does the visa status change automatically to further assessment after the "I confirm I have..." button is clicked? My MA attached the docs requested on the S56 last Friday, 7th Feb - I can see it has been received, green tick - and theoretically, she clicked the button (I can't be sure 100%). Just wondering if the status should change automatically or there is no link between submitting the docs and pushing the button. My 28 days will expire this Friday. It is still as Initial Assessment and I can see the last update date shown is 17th Jan, when they sent the s56 request. Does anyone know? Best regards PS not sure if this is the "grey out" button that I have seen ppl mentioning on this forum. I am trying to contact my MA to triple check if it has been clicked, as I don't want to click on anything on my own. When I hover the mouse above the button, the icon change from the small hand to an arrow - unsure if it would allow me to click or not. ____________________________________________________________ 186 DE (I have been previously working with the 485 postgraduate visa for 2ys in this company, MSA positive by EA in Oct 2019, EA membership member grade in Jan 2020) Occupation: Production Engineer Nomination & Visa Applied: 27 Nov 2019 s56 Required additional information for Visa application: 17 Jan 2020 --> Status changed to Initial assessment S56 Required additional information for Nomination application: 21 Jan 2020 --> Status changed to Initial assessment Additional docs submitted: 07 Feb 2020 Visa status: Initial assessment Nomination status: unknown (?)
  4. MA prepared a letter explaining that there is no national regulatory body that registers and obligates engineers to be registered if not in QLD. Also, the Bills being discussed in NSW, not yet approved - "Professional Engineers Registration Bill 2019" https://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/bills/Pages/bill-details.aspx?pk=3657 There is also an article from EA discussing about the topic(https://www.engineersaustralia.org.au/News/latest-update-lot-noise-so-what-was-achieved) We couldn't get any formal letter from EA, as they can't claim a false negative (which means, they can't prove there is no requirement to be registered in NSW, although they know it's not required lol). I spoke with both EA and Board of professionals in QLD asking about the obligation to be registered in NSW and what has been requested in my case, and they were both perplexes.
  5. Thanks mate... in regards to the requirement, it's there on the home affairs website, as a generic request: Licensing, registration or membership You must be licensed, registered or a member of a professional body if it is mandatory in the state or territory you intend to work in. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/employer-nomination-scheme-186/direct-entry-stream#Eligibility But when it comes to Engineers, it's a bit blurry and according to my MA, that'st the very first time she has had such request from a CO and neither of her colleagues faced the same as well.
  6. That's the case, registration is one thing, skill assessment is another one... According to the National Engineering Registration(NER) scheme from EA, you need at least 5 years exp as a professional engineer to be registered as such. Without the registration, theoretically, you are not "an engineer"... however, this is the law and requested in QLD, as an RPEQ engineer. VIC has recently passed a bill to turn it into law in the state as well - all because of the Opal tower, and others, here in Sydney - but in VIC isn't mandatory, by law, as yet. NSW has 2x Bills being discussed, but none approved as yet - which them implies it's not required. So, our understanding is that the CO is asking about the NER (or similar, for instance with the board of professional engineers in QLD), which at the moment I don't have and haven't seen anyone, from an engineering background, to be asked to provide for immigration purposes - unless you are located in QLD, then I would say 190 and 186 would definitely require the registration. ____________________________________________________________ 186 DE (I have been previously working with the 485 postgraduate visa for 2ys in this company, MSA positive by EA in Oct 2019, EA membership member grade in Jan 2020) Occupation: Production Engineer Applicants: 2 (wife) Country of Origin: Brazil Nomination & Visa Applied: 27 Nov 2019 s56 Required additional information for Visa application: 17 Jan 2020 S56 Required additional information for Nomination application: 21 Jan 2020 Additional docs submitted: hopefully today, 07 Feb 2020
  7. Hi there, another silent reader here to share his timeline, as I am still waiting for an answer. My company's turnover is about $1b, not including the other parts of the group. s56 Visa request: Evidence of registration/licensing if required --> I am located in NSW, where it's not mandatory to be registered as an engineer s56 Nomination request: Contract with mention to min 2 years, genuine letter, detailed position desc (which has already been provided since the first application) and again the evidence for registration/licensing for the employee. I have got my company to re-do my contract, no big deal. Genuine letter ready and signed off by my general manager (direct boss), position desc is pretty the same (as it's an official 5 pages doc from the company and the doc to explain why the registration isn't required is the same as the one for the visa application. Unfortunately, it took us a while to put together some docs and we expect to submit them today, 3 weeks after the initial request - extremely anxious on how long it's going to take for the case officer pick up these docs again, considering the initial assessment was quite quick (including Xmas period). OBS: medical and police checks done in Dec, hence the reason the CO hasn't requested it - that's what I think so.
