  1. Hi Paul so I’m a long time replying to this sorry, but I’m back to thinking about it again…. My current employer is happy to go down the 494 route when the time comes and I’m studying at Tafe here in Australia so the skills assessment shouldn’t be a problem but I’m now trying to work out the work experience side of it. I will have worked here as an assistant for 1 year by the end of this year, 3 days a week. At the end of this year my employer will change my position to room lead but as I’ll be studying my diploma I will still only be working 3 days a week. After this I’ll go on the post grad visa and work full time as a room leader. I know it’s 3 years experience full time as a room lead but I’m wondering if the year part time will count towards? Any advice you can give will be much appreciated. I know there is always the DAMA route but I’d much rather stay where I am if at all possible. Thank you
  2. Thank you!! Would you say move now then and take this route rather than waiting it out here and applying for 494 when the time comes?
  3. Hi all!! I’m just after some advise before I seek help from a migration agent. I’m currently studying early childhood education at Tafe and will finish next year with a diploma. I’m currently studying and working in an amazing daycare on the Sunshine Coast. If I’m wanting the best option of getting PR would I transfer to an area offering DAMA visa’s now and seek sponsorship or carry on here and apply for a 494 visa through my current employer?
  4. Hi Claire We are here now yes. It is very hard to find a rental property here at the moment and rents are very expensive but we have managed to find somewhere luckily. If you know anyone on the coast I’d maybe suggest getting them to inspect some properties for you so you can try and secure one before you arrive. We stayed in a nice air bnb when we arrived that I can give you details for if you need it. Hopefully by the time you arrive things will have settled down abit, but it is a beautiful place to live so good luck with the move x
  5. Sorry to jump on this post but can you please tell me which company you used for you pre-departure test in the UK? It’s such a minefield and I don’t want to choose one that Qantas or Australia won’t accept. Thank you
  6. Hi all, My partner and I + our 2 children aged 6 and 4 will soon be moving to the Sunshine Coast. We are looking for affordable, family friendly areas within 30 minutes of Mooloolaba. Is there any places you can recommend or I suppose more importantly places to avoid? Many thanks in advance for any advise or suggestions. Kayleigh
  7. Thank you!! I’m a mature student (33) but I am fit and healthy so suppose I’ll have to wait and see or pray that we travel before July
  8. Thank you. So do you think if I deferred in say June and applied for the new visa it would still be valid?
  9. Hi all just looking for some clarity. I got my medical for a student visa in July 2020 as I due to start my course in January 2021. I then had to defer the intake to July 2021 and was issued a new visa. If I have to defer again to January 2022 and apply for a new visa will this medical still be valid or will I need a new medical? How long does the medical last for? Thanks in advance for any response
  10. Anybody know when student 500 visa holders will be allowed to enter? Course start date should be January 2021. Thanks
  11. Thank you both for your help I have contacted Queensland DoE so hopefully they can help.
  12. Thank you for responding. The list of the requirements to apply for the student visa says “Evidence of enrolment of an accompanying dependent child 5 to 18 years of age at an Australian school. If any family unit members are 5 to 17 years of age (inclusive) and will live with the applicant in Australia, documentation confirming their enrolment in an Australian school.”
  13. Hi all I have just been offered a place at Tafe to study early childhood education. I will be taking my partner and 2 young children, one of which will be due to start school in January. Looking at the requirements for the student visa it says that I need to have my child enrolled in a school. After contacting the local school in Australia they can’t offer me a place till we have a residential address in the catchment area. Has anybody else experienced this? Is there some way around it? Thank you x
