  1. If you mind a further drive Albany is great lots to see and do down that way even walking in the giantle tingle trees in Gisnts Walk. Sadly the tallest tree climb in the Pemberton region has been closed but the tree top.walk and the other Forrest walk is wonderful. Over 400 wineries throw in a smattering of distilleries and beer production places with the fudge and chocolate company places for the sweet tooth you can't beat a lovely casual beach lunch overlooking the water at Preverly Park or Gnarabup white elephant Cafe.. Our favourite and near the mouth of Margaret river. Enjoy
  2. Hey there I noticed you said you used a move cube and we are in the midst of packing those boxes and my plastic tubs now.  Can I ask u noticed you had alot of wool.  I'm a quilter and have at leat two plastic tubs of materials and one of bits and pieces I use to quilt.  Did you have to itemise all your wool in the one box.  If it was all different skeins,.  I keep thinking how all our clothes have to be itemised and think heck idninhave to do all my quilting pieces I shall go insane.  Let me know how you went with wool situation.  Thanks in advance.

Thanks Angela I did see your picture and they are really stressing itemising things including hubby's tool box 700 pieces as well as clothes as we are not sure if we will insure yet so that for those things but as you say for material just a general box and I have all other quilting items in another  itemise that. Thanks for the heads up on what you did great idea on the weight.  Onwards and upwards in filling our boxes much appreciate the response xx

My husband didn't itemise his tools - just said tools I think. Ditto with your quilting tools, I'd just say quilting tools. When we looked at the insurance form it did seem to require more info. For us it seemed like a reasonable risk to take but I think if you needed tools for work then it would make more sense to insure.  There is a weight limit on the cube so we were able to keep a running total of the weight and thought we were coming close. The other benefit of putting weight on the boxes is when you are packing the cube because there were some that were too heavy for me to try and lift but DH could manage them.  We taped out a corner of the dining room to the cube dimensions so we could see how much space we were taking, however, we had much more space left over than we thought. Just make sure everything is squeaky clean - not a molecule of dirt on garden tools or shoes and the vacuum cleaner has been washed etc.  The only thing that broke, astonishingly, was the mudguard strut on my husband's bike!

Yes great idea about the weight.. They send the plastic sheets with the different cube sizes so re marking out we popped the large cube sheet down and are doing as you suggested.  I think I'll get home to help me weigh on weekend the only heavy items we have will be all my teaching school books and such things... Yes I have been cleaning as I go and we are not using old boxes to prevent any excess dirt excetera.  I have tones of. Plastic tubs that I cleaned out so decided to use them alot too and vaccume seal precious stuff. Last job really is my bleach clean of shoes and a very small amount of kitchen items more ceramics as we will throw all pots pans and cutlery.  I'm having a much needed clear out!!

      Thanks again

  3. I was reading through some of the conditions Paul of a 600 which talks about not getting the visa if you are needing to then get a other new substantive visa. I know the optimum word here is new or would it be safer to get the 601 visa and then apply for a bridging visa A. Until his partner visa comes through. We are just worried they are taking their sweet time over the health Waiver 4007. Feels like we are so close yet so far.
  4. Thank you Jon yes I am aware of massive delays at this stage in the process. Luckily we do not need our things for over 6 or more months which is perfect fine. Yes have thought we will need approx 10 grand with what we have to get a start on some household stuff and this will only be the tip of the iceburg but are giving ourselves a year before we need that money after the sale of a house before purchasing elsewhere so have thought it all through just still after any other suggestions of people other than move cube who I have thoroughly researched... Cheers for your thoughts x
  5. Thanks for the reply.. I'm not to worried I have a house I rent out currently so not bri going a huge amount I have done the researxj and had a move cube quote already just wanted to see if any other companies compared. We plan living in family second home for a year so no worry on delays I wl it need anyrhi g for a good six months or even more. Well aware if huge delays in these times.
  6. Has anyone recently applied for a visitor visa while waiting for a visa outcome of another visa. Interested on people that have done this. My husband essentially is eligible for a visitor visa based on being immediate family if we apply for exemption but we have a partner visa in progress for 20 months at the moment. Thank you in advance.
  7. Hello all we are finally at the stage of shipping some of our household to Australia... I say some as we won't be shipping any white goods no mattresses no lounge or recliners some basic bedroom items and a variety of boxes and other equipment my husband wishes to take with him. I wonder has anyone had some recent experience on shipping and current costs I realise they are there times what they once were. We are deciding on one large move cube or a company that part shares a container. Any and all information please and approx costs. Thanks in advance
  8. Awe thanks for that well we are just waiting to hear a final result ours is very frustrating and into the 19th month but expected... Hope your progress is faster xxx good luck
  9. No problems we had same issue ours timed our after being Lodged a year and had to renew but thankfully only needed UK one. Medical however I would def wait for the request as this is fairly fast to book in but super expensive approx 300 pounds plus and you don't want to repaying for that!
  10. Personally I'd go ahead and get it done but check your timings if you pre do it and these police checks only last a year you might be re requested to redo this again before the visa is decided. Waiting for a request has two issues one is the American side might go slow but on the other hand with the time blow out of 22 months for 75 percent of people to be processed and much longer for 90.percent.. There have been cases where people have got theirs in a matter of a few months. So in short depends on if your prepared to pay twice if it takes a while.
  11. Don't know what cats are like but dogs at the Melbourne quarantine have at least 5 months wait to book in at the moment. Worth checking their direct site for how much time you will need to book in advance.
  12. Thank you for replying to this Paul sorry for long delay thanking you been crazy times this way.. Seems our migration agent has notified us of a medical note about "Health assessed – wait for further advice from the department".which I suspect will be asking for us to complete a health waiver so I guess it sort of answered my concern! Thanks for your input as it helped me understand the process a little more much appreciated.
  13. Hi there quick question has anyone used migration agent and how much access did you get to immi. I am curious as ours have not mentioned access even just to see progress. Thanks in advance xx
  14. I sent a Birthday card end of March for arrival 10th of April it finally turned up 1st May - so yeah huge delays !!
  15. We had the fortune of using our marriage date as the date suggested by our agent - but other who are defacto I would assume its the date they moved in together to make the committed relationship. Hope that helps
  16. Hey Kanga - we are still in the process and will inform you if we get further along - He is on meds yes at least 4 regarding his illness and he now goes for infusions every 6 - 8 months that are the world of difference - we looked up the cost of all these through the medical site http://www.pbs.gov.au/info/about-the-pbs to help us work out what the costing would be - there are different factors with the visa you will go for - they judge it on three different stages and two of them depend on if the visa is temporary and or permanent. One is judged over five years of the medical needs you have and then one can be judge on 10 yrs of the cost - that is the one they are all mentioning here and I believe its approx $49 000 over the ten yrs. Of course you would have to factor the cost of doctors visits, specialist visits, blood work and other such things that would be needed for RA. We found it useful to check this all out and find out the cost to the patient if there was a gap after Medicare also if we took out private health would it make much difference. Thankfully my husband's prognosis is ok as he has no mobility issues and still works now - although he deals with pain daily he manages it on the medications he now takes. I hope this info might help with thinking about your costs and so forth when you're talking to the agent working with your case. Let me know if you need more info and i will try to keep checking back as we progress through our application too I am hoping to find someone that has done the appeal or the Health Waiver as I suspect we might have to get. Best of luck
  17. Just my two cents worth but husband has RA we took on an agent because it is not the end of the story - apparently given their medical issues there are number of paths. One yes they might reject you but on appeal, if you can prove you can support the payment of further ongoing health issues or needs of the person then there is a chance for an appeal and a health waiver to be had. Again more the agents that know this process. Also if its is going to affect an Australian that you do not go ie one of you is Australian then they will also consider this as well. It as always is a case by case basis so no need to completely give up hope and not try. If you talk to your agent about the waiver situation they will know what the chances are. I have done lots of research on this and also had advice from three agents about this information before I took one on to help with our situation. Cheers and Good luck
  18. Thanks for your message Nemesis for that information it helps to see what others experience to guage - no meds versus those already on meds and so on .. Much appreciated. Elayna
  19. Again would love to hear from actual people not those requoting others Elayna
  20. OH i would so love to know what came of people that have had to deal with exactly this condition and applying for a Partner Visa - did you use an agent? Were there any issues with the application and needing medication in Australia. Any or all information will be taken on board. Thanks
  21. Being Ex Perthite and having visited the area many times the term British Pies - are widely unknown - complaints from my British husband on this - He just does not understand the love of a good meat pie in Australia. We also commented on how hard it was to find a good traditional Pork Pie. As Mandurah is like literally mini England with the number of relocators there I am always super surprised no one has opened an English type cafe and bakery with all these things. Sorry to be no help in finding a place but there is an extremely great Bakery on the way out of Mandurah on the main road through to the South West but not British sadly. Best of luck and let us know if you do find one! We might need the info in a year or so
  22. Hell filling in the damn application requires a PhD - but yes I suspected as such and have been looking into possible quotes for this. Thank you both for your feedback. It is helpful if anyone has also had personal experience and if they had wished they used an agent or had used an agent and were happy they did. Thank you in advance for any replies
  23. Hello, I am new to the forum so in advance a warning I am not familiar with all that I might be asking !! We are currently considering an application for Partner Visa for my husband of 7 yrs. He is English and I am Australian. I have lived out of the country for 19 yrs now. We are concerned with the application due to him having Rheumatoid Arthritis and being on a medical infusion every 6 - 8 months. I am aware of the cost of this medicine in Australia and also the others he has to take like anti inflammatory drugs and others needed. My question is ... Has anyone else had Health issues they have had to deal with in their application - I am most sure they will query this in the Basic Medical side of the application as it is an ongoing illness. If so how successful have people been either keeping within the $49 000 costs for 10 yrs they state. Or if they state you will exceed it what are the chances for a successful application. This information might help our decision to pay for an agent to walk us through the application process and for any future appeals for this. Thank you for any advice in advance. xx
