  1. Thank you @InnerVoice that's awesome info. Much appreciated.
  2. Little to no info for me, my "ceremony" was at the height of Covid so didn't get much info besides take your mask off for the picture.
  3. "The onus has to be on the new citizen to look up their responsibilities - such as things like enrolling to vote, as well as getting a passport." Don't mention the voting lol waiting 3 hours on weekend! I get it, just feel it could be explained better or even part of the vast amount spent on getting the visa/s could go towards the passport? I'll probably get the Aussie one soon since we are heading to Europe in December again.
  4. lol yeah - The drama I got at both Spain & Bail airports where they wanted proof. All I could show was a pic of my ceremony. But there was something not 100% (clerical error?) complete about my submission? They apologized. We found it fascinating that the guy was using Whatsapp to communicate with Australia immigration (guess its quicker?) I'm also surprised how unclear dual is (as far as my experience anyway?) my immigration officer never mentioned anything about having to get an Aussie passport as well as my British one. I just assumed it was added to the chip inside the passport? Anyway - guess I'll just buy the Aussie one before it goes up in price. Thanks guys.
  5. Thanks, guess I'll shell out on the oz passport sooner rather than later.
  6. Hi Again Cant seem to see this mentioned in other threads but wondering about 'dual citizenship' RE; having 2 passports? I know its easy using the UK passport getting out of Australia but difficult getting back in on it - especially last time. Once I got into Australia the immigration officer did mention that something hadn't been finalized on their end, even though I've had my ceremony etc but it was corrected. So now my question is - do you have to get an Australian passport even though I'm considered a dual citizen? The fact its going up twice this year just getting it in early/thinking of the $$ Anyone else face this problem? Past experiences and advice appreciated please.
  7. Thanks everyone. I called up and asked if I needed the original form or could bring a digital copy and she said she was untrained and couldn’t help lol oh well, fortune favours the bold.
  8. Hi Everyone. Hope we are all safe and well and trying to shake off the Covid blues? So it’s a long time coming (11 years) but I’ve got my citizenship interview and test on Wednesday and I’m panicking I can’t find the original visa form I filled out and scanned. I’ve read they will postpone or reschedule. I’ve moved house recently and fear it has vanished into the ether. (I originally did it digitally and got scammed off that famous Google Link that is somehow still active, so lost money there) Ive got my birth certificate & passport etc Any experience from anyone else? Suggestions? Eek
  9. Wow, thank you guys. This information has helped me a lot, I think I will go the citizenship route? Thanks again everyone, you are amazing.
  10. Thanks for the help guys. I’ve got a lot of thinking to do.
  11. Hi Gbye Yes was granted a Partner permanent in 2015 with the ‘must not arrive’ after 27 November 2020. It does say; please ensure you are aware that this visa will expire on the Stay Period date in the above table. Prior to this date, you must meet the residency condition in order to be eligible for a Resident Return Visa (RRV). If you intend on travelling outside of Australia after the respective Stay Period date in the above table, you should apply for a RRV before departing Australia. The five year RRV condition requires that you must have spent two of the last five years in Australia as a permanent resident or citizen. If you cannot meet the residency requirement during the validity of your visa, we recommend that you approach our office for a consultation to find out your respective options. Please do thisno later than three months prior to the expiry of the Stay Period date.
  12. Hi ali Ive been here 10 years now and in that relationship for 7 and was on a partner visa, I was just worried I had to inform/tell someone? There’s info online about Divorce/spousal abuse and children but couldn’t see much on pre-marriage. Thank you
  13. Hi guys. Long time lurker over many years, you guys have helped me out numerous times in the past. I just want to ask, I couldn’t see anywhere in search bar, what’s the best thing to do if a partner visa couple breaks up? Im originally from UK, she is Australian. We met in 2012, engaged in 2015 but have called it a day recently. I just wondered if there was a procedure I may need to do and how it effects me? Argh! Any help or information is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
