Hi Adrian although our situation is slightly different some info we found might help you. We needed PR for our two children both myself partner and eldest had PR and we are in uk .We however had to go down The adoption visa route yes we had to do police checks and Medicals for both children these were full Medicals and included blood test and all ! I believe it’s different for the child one as our eldest at the time only had the basic medical !! Submitted feb 2021 Medicals sept 2021 and 2x visa received end sept or beginning Oct ! Vey quick compared to stated times on main website . We used a agent and we glad we did as we would have missed some info ! Good luck with your new arrival x

Hi all Thought I would give an update on our visa application as this might help someone in a similar situation especially as we had a wobble thinking we should have applied onshore after looking at the processing times. Anyway we are a family of 5 ,three of us had permanent resident visas but the two youngest did not . Application submitted for 2 x adoption visas may this year , Medicals requested sept these were completed in sept and uploaded 2x visas received October. Now a year to enter and activate their visas and finally a return to friends and family well if we can get the flights

Hi Marisa thanks for the quick response yes aus are very strict re hague convention and they need to be as not all adoptions give full parental rights . Before covid it had to be off shore but they have temporarily changed this to onshore applications as well but we opted off shore as aus govt often change the rules quickly and we like all sorted and in place don’t like to take risks when kids involved x

Hi all just wondered what are others thoughts . To cut a long story short me partner and child have a permanent aus visa ,Rrv got to return in approx 2.5 yrs . Lived there over 2.5 yrs returned to sort things but life got in way approached to adopt two children all legally uk approved and finalised. With help of agent again like before we submitted May this year received Perth start of May, adoption visa x 2 requested . Now we want to leave next August to nov however looking at processing times not sure if feasible . We need to get settled if the wait goes up do we go and pay and reapply on shore or wait?will this go against us ? We are looking positive at this time as selling and preparing but can’t wait forever . thanks x
