  1. Im in the same positon im a welder going out there in may on a working holiday visa hoping to get skilled work, iv heard it is quite possible. I think its just a case of going out and trying it, approach employers and tell them your situation. Thats what im going to do
  2. Ok thanks for that appreciate it and good luck with it all
  3. Yer it might just work out in time but if it is a bit later it doesnt matter i can hang on until it does im not particularly in a rush iv just sort of looked at going start of may. I live in lincolshire near Scunthorpe. Im looking at starting in brisbane but im going to do a bit of travelling round first to see where i like and where has the best work opportunities
  4. This is a great insight thanks for the reply. Iv sent them the last 4 years p60s so il probably have to get some more then. It sounds like a long process. Im going over to oz in may on a working holiday visa just to see what its like first rather than spending thousands on a 189 visa without knowing what its like over there first. I was hoping to have this done by then so it could help me get work but its like unlikey then.
  5. Iv already done all that. That was in stage 1. I had to scan and send off all my apprenticeship certs etc
  6. Hi there im a welder and iv started my vetassess skills assesment. Iv done stage 1 two weeks ago, iv not really heard anything only just a receipt for payment through the post. Im wondering if anyone has done this assesment before and can shed some light on how long normally before you hear back from them and what stage 2 consists of? Thanks
  7. Oh thats great. Thanks for that info appreciate it
  8. This is the assesment im going to do (vetassess). Im just hoping that this will cover everything and that i dont need to do a year as a assistent like what marisawright has said
  9. Oh! Thanks for the research il have to look further into that. The only thing i do know is that the skills assesment will give me the certificate III from my apprenticeship qualifications iv done here but il look further into this. Cheers
  10. Thats great. Thats the type of work i would be after until i decided what i wanted to do long term, project contract work. Thanks for the feedback
  11. Thanks for the reply. Id expect to do a weld test anyway as you need to do that for any company but im going to do my skills assesment anyway before i go so all my qualifications are Australian recognised so hopefully that would help
  12. Hi Im 28 and a welder and was looking at coming to Australia on a working holiday visa just to see if i like it before applying for a skilled 189 visa. Am i likely to get work as a welder on this visa or are employers not really intrested as your not on a long term visa? Any help would be great thanks
