Very exciting for you! My understanding is that critical sector visa's (PMSOL) are very quickly turned around. You may want to revisit the visa option with your employer and look into a 186DE instead of a 190 as it will likely be quicker if you are definitely on the PMSOL I would definitely advise to follow your dreams and try not to listen to the negative noise. I was told the same things on this forum when I came over here on a 482 in early 2020 (just as COVID was emerging around the world) and I am permanent resident 16 months later. I also had my visa (non-PMSOL) turned around in 60 days. Just stay informed and do your research. All the best!

For the 186 visa, the request for a medical is automatically triggered when you submit your application not when your visa has been assessed. On submission you are provided with a HAPID that allows you to book medicals. I could be wrong but your application will not have been looked at this stage unfortunately (unless perhaps you are PMSOL). Medical examination appointments are notorious for having long waiting times before they are available and this is a common question on this forum. There is nothing you can do to bring it forward other that spending time refreshing their website and hoping for cancellations in the location of your choice. We avoided this by booking an appointment in Canberra (we live in Sydney) and made a weekend of it there, that way we got an appointment a week after we were provided with our HAPID for medicals. Probably not so easy done at the moment with lock downs and restrictions.

Form 956a is used to inform the DOHA that you are appointing an authorised recipient to receive documents that the department would otherwise have sent to you or withdrawing the appointment of your authorised representative. It’s not usually a form a migration would use. Why don’t you just speak them and ask?

Exactly the same, we imported and I found an error immediately that would have caused serious delays. Thankfully it was rectified that day and no delays incurred. Good advice, Hex.

Yes. We did. Had our visa granted in 60 days. Makes no difference whatsoever.

Have you got the new passport ready to send? If not, then however long it takes you to get a new passport in the first instance and then I would honestly say no one can tell you when after there are so many variations in answers. It could be days, weeks, months . . .

Why would it?? We importer ours from the employer into our own and never told them. Our visa was granted in two months.

Hi everyone - I can't tell you how happy I am that we have received our golden email today! Our 186DE visa has been granted today . . . . 60 days after submission I have updated my signature. I've been in and out of this forum for over 2 years and I know how long some of you have been waiting. Just know your time will come. Good luck everyone

Mine hasn't been granted. My nomination was granted on the 19th April however my visa is still 'received' i.e. no one has even looked at it.

There is no pattern and seemingly no logic. As long as you're onshore and your employer is an accredited sponsor then you are definitely in the more focused queue. We're all in the same boat but there are some poor souls that have been waiting nearly 2 years, I feel for them . Good luck!

You can't point me to it because it's not there. Eligibility for that visa ONLY according to the Home Affairs website states: You must currently be the primary visa holder of a subclass 482 (TSS) visa granted for an occupation on the Medium to Long-term Strategic Skills list So I suggest you research that.

Can you show me exactly on the home affairs website where it specifically states that to be eligible for PR via the Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) Temporary Transition Scheme ONLY that the occupation needs to be on a list at the point of application?
