  1. Where in Melbourne are you heading? Could be a good idea to keep in touch, as we arrive in 2 weeks and might be nice to keep in touch with somebody on the same Journey!
  2. Fortunately we don't have close ties with family (The one small benefit I guess!), how very leaving our friends is sure going to be tough. Haha yeh, we've told all friends and family to visit us, as we won't visit the UK for a while. Should be careful what I say, a house full for 2 weeks sounds stressful!!
  3. Hi all What's the score with wooden ornaments, frames, chipping boards, and such? All treated in some way or other. Do they just need to be declared? Cheers in advance Nathan
  4. Amazing post really nice to hear your whirlwind of a story! Thankyou
  5. Cheers for all the positive comments folks! We are going on a TSS yeh, with a view to make it permanent either myself) 189/190) or wait out for the 3 year deal. A few others have done sinilar with my company, but with the ever changing nature of the emigration system I'm thinking 189/190 is the best route. Glad to hear my nerves are normal, you dream of something like this for years but the reality of it is something else for sure
  6. Thanks for the reply mate! We move to Melbourne in 2 weeks.. Been wanting to do this for years and nows it's imminent I can't get rid of this stressed feeling haha! Would be interested in hearing everyone's experiences, im sure this is normal
  7. Hi all Just wondering how others felt in their final couple of weeks before leaving? I am relocating with wlork, which has been a very rushed and stressful process. Stress levels are constantly high and sometimes overwhelming! Anybody else felt like this in their final weeks?
  8. Hi all I will be arriving in Australia in a few weeks on a 482 Visa (With the aim to get PR asap). During my time on 482 i understand i will not be fully covered by Medicare, but there is a reciprocal agreement between the UK and Australia. I also understand i need to get insurance for what this does not cover, so i guess my question is, does anyone recommend any insurers that cover specifically fror this at reasonable prices? I've seen all the big names around (Bupa etc), but it's not something i want to rush into, best to get this right and at a reasonable price if we can Thanks in advance Nathan
  9. Thanks all Should've made it clear, my aim is to get PR ASAP but this was the best way to negotiate a relocation in the short term. Need to speak to an agent to see if I should wait 3 years for the employer sponsered route or pursue 189/190 myself, but that's abkther topic! The air freight is for our essentials and we have ISO container for the rest. Thanks!
  10. Thanks for the movecube suggestion but my question was more, what would you stick in your movecube if you had one?
  11. Hi all I've been lucky and fortunate enough to secure a 482 sponsored job of which I am being relocated. I have 225kg of air freight included which is approx 15 mid packing boxes. Question for people who have made the move, is there anything you wish you had taken with you on the offset? I've got some ideas but just wanted to hear it from people who have done it! Cheers all
  12. HI all I've just been lucky enough to be succesful in gaining a sponsored role in Victoria. The role is with a blue chip company (Internal transfer), and will be transferring over as an electronics technician in medical. We're understandably excited, but i do have nerves in the back of my mind regarding the visas. Does anybody know of visas ever being declined? I have to hand my notice in at work, so wouldnt want o be in a situation where i am jobless in the UK, and then not have Australia to look forward to! Cheers for any info Nath
  13. Brill. Yeh I thought aim for high and it can only be better news if its cheaper. I guess most don't opt for the top level cover and just pay for dentistry etc as and when required? Cheers Nath
  14. Unfortunately medical cover isn't sometthing that the company offer. I've found quotes at around $6-800 for 2 adults and a child for healthcare, does this seem reasonable? Thanks again guys
