  1. Additionally, i think you'll need to get medicals done for the baby once he / she is born, so it might be worth waiting until this point for all of you. I believe immigration will put your application on hold until the baby is born if you inform them that you're pregnant.
  2. We submitted our 189 visa application on the 11th of August and received a request for medicals and police checks today. In other people's experiences, are we likely to receive any additional requests for information or documents after this initial contact? Or can we expect a visa grant after submitting the police checks and medicals, assuming they all check out?
  3. I believe all ACS occupations require a minimum of two years of work experience in order to be considered qualified. http://www.acs.org.au/msa/skills-assessment-guidelines-for-applicants.html
  4. ACS require work experience in addition to qualifications. This required work experience cannot be used to claim points.
  5. Two years work experience is the minimum deducted to satisfy the skills met date: http://www.acs.org.au/msa/skills-assessment-guidelines-for-applicants.html Anything beyond that can potentially be used for points depending on how relevant it is to your nominated occupation. So, if you finished your degree in 2004 with no prior work experience, your skills met date is likely to be 2006.
  6. It might also be worthwhile considering when you completed your degree and your MCSE. For example, if you completed your degree last year but you completed your MCSE ten years ago, you might get more points if you use your MCSE for the skills assessment. As this will provide more years of work experience.
  7. 70 points should secure an invite in the not too distant future. Does Perth offer a 190 for metal fabricators? I think most of their 190 professions are medical related. You could probably secure a 190 for another state though.
  8. Iscah have published there most recent estimations here: 65 points might have a long wait ahead depending on invitations per round.
  9. I think it means they don't include statistics for 190 visas, but I could be mistaken.
  10. If your work references and rpl support the duties laid out in for Software Engineers then I believe the title is less important. Certainly some of my job titles were quite generic but the work references reflected the skill I was applying for, this was accepted by ACS.
  11. PTE offer training packages, I can't personally vouch for their effectiveness, but I did buy their scored practise tests. I think you can get three tests for $35. Well worth it in my opinion to get an idea of what's expected. The format is identical to the real thing. My biggest gripe with the PTE exam is that you can be in a room with a dozen other people all sitting the test at the same time, so all speaking away in the background. It can be quite distracting.
  12. I completed my RPL last year. Within the RPL form you'll see the following "Of the two reports, one must apply to a project undertaken within the last three years, and the other for a project within the last five years." You'll be unable to claim points for any of the work experience used for the RPL. I was in a similar situation, having worked in ICT for 13 years, I could only claim 5 years of relevant work experience, simply because I only completed by degree in 2017 and I had to use 8 years of work experience for the RPL. When you receive your ACS skills assessment back it'll tell you when you met the skills date. Any work experience after this date can be used to claim points.
  13. Thanks all, I'll pull together some payslips instead.
  14. In February of this year i received a positive skills assessment and in May of this year I changed jobs, but I'm not claiming points for the new role in my EOI. My original employer reference is dated from December last year and confirms the dates I worked as September 2016 to present day. Given that I've now changed jobs, would I need to request a new employment reference with the dates worked from and to? We didn't part on the best of terms as i left for a competitor which wasn't well received from the management team. So, getting a new letter might be challenging.
  15. No payment is required to lodge an EOI. How many points do you have? Having lodged your EOI recently you might have a long wait ahead of you depending on your points claimed, which skill your claiming against and whether or not you're considering state sponsorship or any of the 189 alternatives.
  16. What's the monthly invite amount though, the same as the 11th of July round or double the 11th of July round? It'll be interesting to see how it pan's out.
  17. Eoi invite rounds are changing to once per month from the 11th of August, total number of invites per month to remain the same. https://skillselect.gov.au/SKILLSELECT/Portal/Notifications Seeing as the invite round fir yhe 25th of July didn't happen, can we assume that the change has already come into effect? And was the 11th of July invite round an indication of the amount of invites we can expect to be made each month? We really had our hopes up for getting an invite this month, looks like we'll be waiting some more.
  18. You don't need a job offer to secure a 190 visa for Vic. As you're ICT you need to be selected by the state by selecting VIC in your EOI, however, you'll need 3 years of work experience since becoming qualified, your ACS assessment should tell you when you met this requirement. In general, it's tough securing a job offer without a visa. In my experience, while companies and agencies are interested, they won't commit to a job offer without a valid Visa. It's a chicken and egg situation.
  19. The main reason for the points being so high is due to the reduced invitations per round, the official reason for this is not politics or an attempt to reduce immigration figures. There's a series of emails published here http://www.iscah.com/official-reasons-daha-inviting-300-per-round-189-visa/ which goes into detail as to why the invitation rounds are low. Essentially it's down to work load and ot was originally meant to be a temporary measure, however, it was approved for the rest of the financial year. Given that invite rounds should return to normal this month (1200 - 1500 per round vs 300 per round), we should see a significant decrease in the points required to secure an invite. This is a 300% increase in invites, so it's not insubstantial. If the invites don't return to normal then the situation is unlikely to improve.
  20. I'm not familiar with vet assess so can't really comment.
  21. That's a similar situation to me. I completed my MSc in 2017 but got my ACL skills assessment for RPL. If you have 15 years of experience the RPL would take away 8 years of experience leaving you with 7? I managed to have ACL assess my degree as equivalent using the same skills assessment, i just asked them to do so in a follow up email.
  22. Might take you up on this. Currently trying NSW.
  23. 262112 ICT Security Specialist 70/75 MSc Advanced Security and Digital Forensics Superior English 5 years of experience as assessed by ACS 11 years of industry experience I was invited to apply for Vic state nomination on the 5th of March, all paperwork finalised on the 13th of March. Today i received a rejection email from Vic: Thank you for your application for Victorian Government nomination under the 190 - Skilled Nominated visa scheme. Following a review of your application, we regret to inform you that you have not been selected for visa nomination by the Victorian Government. Your application for Victorian Government state nomination was reviewed individually and assessed with a focus on your ability to address a number of criteria, including:  your ability to meet the minimum eligibility criteria,  the demand for your particular skills and expertise, and your ability to find work in Victoria,  the suitability and transferability of your qualifications, skills and experience – including any specialist capabilities – to the needs of Victoria’s labour market,  your ability and commitment to establishing yourself, and any dependents, in Victoria  the number of nomination applications received relative to the number of nomination places available for your occupation. Victoria receives a high number of very strong applications for state nomination and only the very highest calibre candidates with the strongest skills, experience and opportunity for finding work in Victoria’s labour market are selected for Victorian state nomination. The Victorian Government uses independent industry panels to provide advice on the suitability of applicants to Victoria’s labour market. These industry representatives also provide advice on the demand for individual applicants’ qualifications, skills and experience, and prospects for employment in Victoria. While your application demonstrated your ability to meet the minimum eligibility requirements for Victorian state nomination, other applicants were able to more adequately demonstrate their suitability for employment in Victoria. There are other visa pathways for highly skilled workers who want to live and work in Victoria and we encourage you to investigate other visa options on the Department of Home Affairs’ website www.homeaffairs.gov.au. Is there any sort of appeal process or can i reapply with a different EOI? I’m just not sure what my options are now.
