  1. No idea what's going to happen with the new changes coming into effect.
  2. Nah I'm going for Murray NSW, want to get it in before the big reset in July
  3. I've pretty much given up on the 190 happening. Even with 70 points, plus 5 for SN, we probably won't get a look in. I'm going for the 489 Murray route
  4. is this for a specific tourist visa that this condition may apply?
  5. What are your plans? I go up to 70 points 1st July, which will give me 80 for a 489. Might try my luck with SA.
  6. No. We don't stand a chance now with 65 or 70 points. I think 489 might be my only route in.
  7. Hi, I submitted my EOI in July 2018 for 190 NSW and 189. I'm a secondary school teacher and have 65 points at the moment, plus the 5 for state nomination. Haven't had an invite for either and not expecting one this financial year. My points increase by 5 in July to 70 because I'll have more experience, but even on 70 I'm not too hopeful at the moment. There's just so much uncertainty and change. Regardless, I'm heading out to WA in August on a tourist visa to check out areas, but might go and look at Adelaide as SA is inviting teachers on a 489 (with 80 points). I'd recommend looking at 489 options. Best of luck.
  8. 75 points is now the minimum amount of points to get invited on a 189, according to the March results... It is literally never going to happen, is it? I had my eyes on the prize for when my points total jumps to 70 in July, but now I am seriously losing all hope. The 190 isn't happening for anyone without a PhD and 20 years experience. The new regional visas are looking increasingly like the only route in. Gutted.
  9. Where do you find the info on which occupations get invited?
  10. Haha it's such a joke. I even said "why would anyone even take the 190 if they had that many points?" Did you happen to read about second applicants being able to take the English language test and their score will contribute towards the application? I'm hoping that's the case, so that my wife can do it and give us 5 more points, which will bring us back to 70 points in November.
  11. No, with 70 points for 189 you should be invited within a round or two more. You''ll be fine.
  12. I got a response from someone in the NSW department for education. They said that apparently someone got invited last month on 80 points, so it is still open... but seriously, 80 points?! Probably the only one invited this year. Feel completely dejected now. Never going to happen unless I do a PHd and can stop my age clock.
  13. So I emailed his department and someone got back to me this morning. It was very generic and didn't clarify anything regarding teachers being invited or remaining on the list, just the standard "competition is fierce, we rank our criteria by occupation, high points, high level of English" bla bla bla. I emailed back basically saying if I had more points, I wouldn't need 190, nor would anyone else, as 70 is usually enough to be invited on a 189. I said I had superior English, almost 3 years employment in the skilled occupation, and therefore should qualify if you still actually need teachers. I asked them to tell me why, if I'm hitting the criteria as best as most can, why aren't we invited or why is the skill still on the list. I'm not holding my breath for any groundbreaking news...
  14. Hi Sarah. I've already done the WHV in 2011 and am now too old to do it anyway.
  15. I'm seriously losing the will to live... Right! I've got 65 points at the moment. Can't get any more until July when I get 5 more for experience. Tired of waiting. 189 will not happen anytime soon, and NSW are killing my soul with their inaction. What other options are there? I specialise in English and Media Studies but can teach any humanities subject. I'm all ears to suggestions!
