    Robina, Gold Coast Suburb

Robina The suburb of Robina is located 16 kilometres from Surfers Paradise and is very well serviced by major buses and trains. The Surfside bus company services most main roads within the suburb and also provides buses that transport from the Train Station out to meet the tram network which runs parallel to the beach and out through Southport to the new Gold Coast Public Hospital. There are plans in the future for the trams to extend further south than Broadbeach too. Robina is also very close to the Pacific Motorway (M1) which runs north to Brisbane and down south to the Coolangatta Airport and NSW. Shopping Centre Robina Town Centre is the second largest of the two major shopping centres on the Gold Coast. It was originally opened in April 1996 and has since been extended various times. This shopping centre also contains a large Events cinema complex consisting of regular cinemas along with both Gold Class and VMax options. Another option for youths to entertain themselves within the shopping centre precinct is the AMF bowling alley with laser tag. The ten pin bowling lanes are all lit up with neon lights for extra fun. It contains all the major department stores along with a new dining precinct known as ‘The Kitchens’. The Kitchens is open during regular shopping hours with gourmet burger, pastries and sandwiches on offer but after hours there includes an espresso martini bar, a brewery and other licensed venues. This dining precinct has been extremely popular since its opening. They have cooking school sessions and celebrity guests. These sessions often have a fee for attending and sell out ahead of time. The cuisine options are also varied and there really is ‘something for everyone’ with vegan options next to juicy big burgers. Demographic Robina really is a very diverse suburb. At the 2011 Census Robina had a population of 22,522 (ABS). As Robina was a planned suburb and town centre there is plenty of opportunities to living there. There are many office and commercial buildings along with the shopping centre that provides plenty of opportunity for employment. Houses and dwelling options There is plenty of variety available in Robina. Units, townhouses, stand alone houses and even retirement villages. Scattered throughout the various estates within the suburb of Robina are plenty of parks and recreation spaces whether for walking the dog or playing with kids. For a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with no pool and on a ¼ acre block you will be looking at about $500 rent per week, to purchase a house like this would be about $500k-$600k. If you looked into larger property, with a pool, and on water then you can easily start with $1m as a commencing price. Train station What was once the end station for the Gold Coast is now just a stop on the way through now, as the train continues to Varsity Lakes. You can get a train that runs express from Beenleigh to the City and then onwards to both the Domestic and International Airports. Journey times are 1 hour and 20 minutes to the city, just under 2 hours to the airport and run every 15 mins during peak times. Hospitals A public hospital was opened in 2007 and was the second hospital available on the Gold Coast. There is a newly opened (2012) hospital extension that includes a larger emergency centre along with many additional beds. This public hospital precinct is located within only a few mins walk from the train station too. Also opened in the last year is a new private hospital. While this does not contain an Emergency Room it does have surgeons and specialist consulting suites. Schools Robina offers educational institutions from kindergarten right through to 12th grade and university options are available nearby. There are state options for both primary and high school but there are also plenty of private options nearby. Robina is a very central location with access to Bond Uni about 10 mins away and Griffith Uni about 25 mins away. Sports stadium The Titans NRL team have their sports stadium, Skilled Park, located in Robina only meters from the train station. The facility has the capacity to seat over 27,000 spectators. This means that all home games are played here. It was a strategic decision to position the stadium so close to the train station though as there is no nearby parking. Even if you do park in a designated car park you will be bussed over to the arena prior to the game.
