Why East Keilor East Keilor is an exceptionally safe area to live in with very little crime. East Keilor is a well-established area with mostly older people living here. East Keilor has all amenities for residents including access to public transport, shopping centres, schools, football clubs, cricket clubs etc. With very affordable housing for a suburb close to the CBD for renters and for buyers, East Keilor is the place to come to. East Keilor has fun activities for people to do such as playing for a football club, cricket, tennis, joining a gym etc. Best Streets of East Keilor East Keilor has some fantastic streets that you can live in as well as estates. Prospect Drive is one of the best streets to live in East Keilor with a range of beautiful single and double story homes that can be purchased to either rent or buy depending on whether these homes are on the market or not. You always have the freedom to go for a relaxing walk to the park 10 minutes away or around the block to Norwood drive where a Milk Bar is located selling milk, newspapers, chips, lollies, biscuits, cigarettes and more. If you fancy going for a longer walk you could go for a walk on a beautiful day to the local shopping centre, Milleara Mall. Milleara Mall is the main shopping centre of East Keilor with 35 retail stores ranging from clothing to food. Across the road from Milleara Mall on Milleara Road is the bus stop with buses offering services to Essendon Station, Mordialloc, Highpoint Shopping Centre and Footscray Station. Some other good streets are Quinn Grove, Ronald Grove and Wyong Street. Wyong Street is located where the Centreway Shopping Centre. This is where the original JB Hi Fi first opened. The shopping centre has 50 shops all outdoors consisting of mostly food and hairdressers. Quinn Grove is where the Essendon Keilor College East Keilor (Secondary College) campus is located and right next door is the East Keilor Leisure Centre. The East Keilor Leisure Centre has a gymnasium, indoor pools, outdoor pools, tennis courts, soccer pitch, aerobics workout classes and Scouts. Ronald Grove is another street where the Keilor Heights Primary School is located. The Valley Lake Estate is the latest housing development to hit East Keilor. Located directly across the road from the back of Essendon Keilor College. This was previously a quarry and has been filled in with housing. There is a lake in the residences and the houses are new ranging from single story to double story homes. The Worst Streets East Keilor does have its worst streets as well. There are not too many in this area. Milleara Road is one of them. This street goes right from Milleara Shopping Centre right through past the Centreway. Living on Milleara Road would be a nightmare because it’s a main road and its subject to traffic congestion at peak times. Getting in and out of your driveway on a main road would be very painful and would take a very long time especially when backing out of your driveway. Dinah Parade is also a main road with lots of traffic due to the large number of schools located in East Keilor and within the surrounding suburbs. There is more crime on the other side of East Keilor (Centreway side) compared to Prospect Drive, Sterling Drive etc. Shopping Centres East Keilor has three shopping centres you can visit, one indoor and two outdoors. Milleara Shopping Centre is the main indoor shopping centre with 35 retail outlets. Some of these include 7 Eleven, Chemist Warehouse, TAB, Bakers Delight, Safeway, Ferguson Plare Bakehouses, Aldi and more. The Centreway Shopping Centre consists of mostly food and hairdressing retailers. Dinah Parade has a small strip of shops with two Milk Bars, a liquor store, Medical Centre and a coffee shop. Schools East Keilor has its fair share of schools to cater for all income earners. These are government, catholic and independent schools. St Peters Primary School is a catholic primary school, Essendon Keilor College is a government school first opened in 1973 catering for 7-9 year levels and the Essendon Campus caters for year levels 10-12. Keilor Heights Primary School is a government primary school with a great reputation. For the people with no money issues who can afford to give their children the luxury of a private education can send their kids to PEGS. They are an independent primary and secondary college with a campus located in East Keilor. Fees start at $13,000 for grade prep and increase each year the kid gets older. Demographics East Keilor is an area that is for young- middle aged couples wanting to live in a safe area that aren’t super rich. Employment Opportunities East Keilor does have opportunities for people to work in the retail stores in Milleara Shopping Centre such as Bakers Delight as Apprentice Bakers, Sales Assistants and as Bakers. Safeway, Aldi, 7 Eleven have opportunities for people to work. Potential employment can also be teaching at one of the schools. House Prices Houses are generally more expensive in the Valley Lake Estate, the Centreway Side of East Keilor compared to the Prospect Drive side of East Keilor. Here is a list below of the median house prices and rental prices for East Keilor.
