  1. UK applicant. I am going to ring them first off on 1/5/19 and find out but sometimes people have found helpful phrases or "trigger" words that get them to pull their finger out a bit quicker when used!
  2. Hi all, Applied Citizenship via conferral 31/8/17 Further info requested - heard nothing since........... I hit the 20month mark on 1/5/19. Anyone experience of the complaint process I can go through to get some resolution come next week when I am outside of the processing times? Do I complain to Immigration first and then go to the Ombudsman if no resolution? I am drafting a letter to local MP as we speak - ready to send when I hit the 20 month mark. Feeling frustrated... Thanks for any advice.
  3. So we are here as a family on a 457. I am the main applicant. I have applied for Citizenship (I only recently found out (whilst already working in Australia) I could Citizenship get through mum via - child of former Australian pathway). - no residency required! So what happens to the rest of the families 457? I presume it gets cancelled when I become a Citizen. Do her and children get bridging visa automatically? Or does it not happen until I apply for an onshore spouse visa? Anyone been in a similar scenario? Thanks
  4. It seems too good to be true! Hoping someone might have gone through the same process and can reassure me. Some background Mum - born and bred Aussie, moves to UK in 70's marries my dad, and adopts UK citizenship. She loses citizenship as unable to hold dual nationality. I am born a few yrs later. She has since regained her citizenship approx 2005 after they changed the rules. The immi website suggests I am eligible - https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/trav/citi/pathways-processes/application-options/child-of-former-australian-citizen/eligibility you were born outside Australia - yes one of your parents was an Australian citizen before you were born- yes that parent lost their Australian citizenship by acquiring the citizenship of another country, as an adult, before 4 April 2002 - yes be of good character if you are aged 18 years or over. - submitted police certificate I submitted my paper application end of August 2017 - and am in the long wait for citizenship by conferral. Just looking for someone that has done the same and can reassure me it really it that simple! Thanks
  5. Hoping to pick your brains. I was orginally travelling to Oz on a 457 as a GP and going to covert to 189 on landing! (I have enough points). I can't apply for EOI 189 in the UK until AHPRA have verified my documents in person! However, just discovered on the Immigration website about Citizenship through child of former Australian Citizen. My Mum was an Aussie by birth. She had to take UK citizenship in the 70's before I was born when married my father (before 2002). I was born outside Australia I have all the documents - her Aussie birth certificate/UK naturalisation etc According to website - should be easy enough to apply https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Citi/pathways-processes/application-options/child-of-former-australian-citizen Application goes in tomorrow by post (don't get me started on the online application system!) My questions are: a) Has anyone done this before? - any hurdles or difficulties, how long does it take to come through? The website a bit vague as I don't need a citizenship ceremony. b) I have a wife and 2 kids - Presuming I get citizenship what's the quickest way to get them included? - PR Visa for Spouse/kids obvious choice but looking like taking a while. Can the kids get citizenship through me and get wife over on Tourist visa (and apply for PR as a spouse whilst in Oz) as she is going to be a stay at home mum? c) I have a job (GP) in Australia waiting- So I could also go with the whole family on a 457 and wait for my Citizenship to come through and finalise Citizenship/PR visa for family in Oz whilst on my 457. Though that would cost more. Would there be a problem if I was granted citizenship and then travelled on a 457 on my UK passport and sorted the families PR visa whilst in Oz on our 457? Sorry for the number of questions Anyone any thoughts or recommendations of who to approach for advice? Thanks.
