  1. Wow, thanks so much! That's exactly the kind of reply I was hoping for on this thread! I guess the additional documents really are if completely necessary. I will submit everything I have anyway, it'll only mean they won't have to request them should they need it. I'm a British national, no criminal record in good health, so hopefully they treat me the same as your mother in law - especially if they can do it in about a week! Thanks again!
  2. Thank you, that's very helpful! My neighbour works for the NHS and signs passport photos to confirm they are the person in the photo. I assume she will be able to do the same for my application. I'm applying for the subclass 600 (12 months visitor/tourist). It doesn't really say that it requires all these docs, I just can't see it hurting by submitting a bit extra. So I was going to get a certified copy of the birth certificate from the person inviting me. It doesn't ask for a birth certificate from them, but it does say all documents submitted should be 'certified copies' - hence I was going to get her to get it certified. I did a quick Google about JP in Australia and found a link that said Australia Post will do it for $4.95 per document!
  3. Thanks. Does that mean status declaration? How would she get that? Unfortunately she doesn't have a passport. What's JP? Kind regards
  4. Hi guys, I'm applying for a 12 month visitor visa at the end of May to begin the last week of June. My 'host' is writing a letter and supplying the relevant documents etc on their end. The application is online, so if they copy them and send them to me, to forward to immigration, is that okay? I assume so as I can't see any other way of submitting the original documents. Secondly, the name on their birth certificate is 'Julianne', but their drivers license says 'Julie' (for short). Is that going to be an issue? Or is it better to just submit the birth certificate instead? Thanks in advance!
  5. Hi Ali, and thanks for your reply. The proof of funds is no issue, but I can't book return travel yet as you can't book tickets that far ahead! One agent I spoke to said it wouldn't be a problem as long as I had sufficient funds. It's very frustrating how they say don't make travel arrangements prior to your visa being approved, yet they want you to have flight tickets/return!
  6. Hi guys! Hopefully someone can offer some advice. I am going to be applying for a 12 months tourist visa (subclass 600) in about month, so that I can go and visit my girlfriend's family and see some of the beautiful country. She's been here in the UK with me for 2 years now. - Is there anything they will DEFINITELY ask for? Online it says they 'may' ask for this that or the other, but is there anything in particular they will absolutely require? - I don't own property, I'm self-employed in the UK and all my family are here. Is that enough for incentive to return? - I'm also not really sure how to prove I'm self employed. All I can show are invoices I've written to people and a letter from HMRC stating I need to complete self-assessment. - Is there any reason they wouldn't grant the 12 months if I request it? I'm from the UK, no criminal record, enough money to support myself, have been on a WHV before and returned home before the end of the visa. I know it's alot to ask, but all this visa stuff stresses me out - the thought of them saying 'no' (even though I don't see any reason for them to) and splitting me and my girlfriend up is frightening for me Thanks in advance guys!
  7. Thanks. Not really sure, the poster above you had stated they have spoken to immigration twice and been told that's okay. Have you done it before? It's quite stressful and can't afford to make any mistakes. I think I would like to get it in writing from immigration themselves, stating that re-entry via this method is allowed so that if I was pulled up at arrivals, I could show them what they have told me. Plus I guess they'd be able to see my reasoning for wanting to be in Australia as I'd have all my info submitted for a partner visa. Yes, I did think that! I just wonder how much they ACTUALLY know in terms of the ins and outs of such a visa. I'd like to hope so, and I will speak to them, but I will definitely take advice from immigration themselves! Thanks
  8. Okay, thank you very much for the reply! That's a little bit reassuring. My girlfriend just brought up something though - don't I have to be outside of Australia when they approve it though? How will I know when they're going to approve it to make sure I'm not there?
  9. Hi guys, first post here! Okay, so basically, I'm wondering what the best way to do this is. I would like to apply for a partner visa subclass 309 (the one which ends with permanent residency after 2 years) so I can live in Australia with my girlfriend (she's the Aussie) and also be able to travel back and forward to the UK without having to get a different visa each and every time. We are both currently in the UK, and she has until June 30th 2018 until her UK working holiday visa expires and has to go back to Australia, and obviously I want to go too! Problem is, on the Aussie immigration website, it says the current processing time for the 309 temporary visa is 70% completed in 13 months, and 90% in 16 months. June is only 10 months away. What's the best way to go about this? Is there a different visa I can get to go to Australia in June next year and apply for my Partner Visa? Am I even allowed to travel to Australia on a separate visa whilst my partner one is being processed? Or is it better to go to Australia on a 6/12 months visitor visa, then apply for my partner visa whilst I'm there (if that's even allowed)? Thank you so much in advance! This is a confusing and slightly stressful process, but obviously so, so worth it.
