No, the skilled standard visas like the 189 are barely invited anymore. In October only 30 people got invited! Offshore it is almost impossible to get any visa this financial year.

I got PR for this visa in October, a friend last week and 2 more got the invitation this week. We all work or study at an Australian univeristy. This visa is heavily promoted by the department. The EOI is easy and doesn't cost anything. So you can easily give it a go.

Kaufland is totally different from Aldi and Lidl. It is not a discounter but a full range supermarket. They also some clothes, books, car and bike stuff, household items and other non-food items as well as a counter for fresh meat and cheese. I don't like to shop at Kaufland so much because of the dark narrow alleys and I always find it hard to find what I am looking for (at least over here in Germany). Anyway, it will be good to have another competitor on the market to challenge Coles and Wollworth.

my profession is engineer but my nominated occupation is university lecturer which has luckliy been shifted back to the the long term list on July 1st

University lecturer has not been removed. It was shifted from the short term list back again to the long term list!
