  1. For 189 you nominate an occupation that is in the SOL list, as long as you make 60 points and its not a Pro rata occupation you are very likely to get an invite. You get the invite you apply and you get the Visa and now you can live anywhere in Australia. For 190 you need state sponsorship and you get extra 5 points for 190 state sponsorship. Now if you are willing to do that meaning the state is willing to sponsor you, you get extra 5 points and using those you might make it to 60 or maybe more points…for pro rata occupations which are in great demand… With the 190 the expectation is that you will work in the nominated state for 2 years after the grant of the visa…. For 489 you need state sponsorship and you get extra 10 points for state nomination and you have to live and work in a designated regional area for a certain time before you are granted a PR. Its easier to get a nomination for a 489 as compared to a 190. Hope this helps.. Good luck with everything
  2. I am a social worker myself & have gone through the process myself & didn't need to use an agent but this varies from case to case.
  3. @poppy blue yes you can certainly help. What was it like, what things do I need to revise. I am adults social worker and have no experience in cp so terrified about this interview. All help will be greatly be welcomed. Congratulations to you. Are you going on a 457 or .....
  4. Hi louise meant to say went for visa 190 (PR) state nomination for Victoria. Yes doing it myself as I researched and felt didn't really need an agent. I applied job via gov website for advanced child practitioner. I have no experience rather just adults safeguarding. I have done the psychometric test. Waiting for a skype interview really nervous. Omg hope I get time to make notes to. What area are you working in, how is it compared to here. If things don't go well what other jobs can I apply?
  5. @louise7981 just wondered if your a social work or work in the field. I am currently waiting for my visa 189 to be processed. Just wondered if you could assist as I am a adult social worker in the UK & have an interview with Victoria. Wanted to know what to expect. @DukeNinja hope everything goes well for you. Do you know where you will be heading...
  6. I had interview for Victoria (melbourne) but hoping to go Perth first as I have family. I want to settle first then explore. But if I don't secure job in perth Melbourne it is. What's your occupation.
  7. Omg James well done. Literally in shock am from Kidderminster & submitting tomorrow for 189 social worker. My friend is a nurse it will be interesting to read responses.
  8. keep @ it you will succeed. I wrote Ieits academic in U.K & missed by 0.5 in one section to get 7's in all categories. My friend advised that I try book it in spain or somewhere were English is not their first language. It did the trick for her but I decided to write it in aussie during my visit & passed. I mostly used videos on YouTube to revise & learn the format.
  9. Thank you for your assistance greatly appreciate it.
  10. Can someone help I received positive outcome skills assessment from AASW. Had BA hons in Social Care & masters in social work. In the process of wanting to submit EOI hoping to be invited to apply for visa 189. Can I claim 15 points for my BA hons as it was my first degree before the Masters or does it have to be 10 points (skills assessment). Does the BA hons have to be in social work field or any degree equivalent to Aussie standards. I ask as the outcome letter just says your qualifications are eligible for AASW registration.
