  1. The following is taken from the Australian Human Resources web site. It confirms you do in fact receive prescriptions on PBS while on a bridging visa. If you’re from any of the other agreement countries It covers: medically necessary care out of hospital medically necessary care as a public patient in a public hospital prescription medicines at a lower price - this is the general rate for drugs in the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme This is for visitors from: Belgium Finland Italy Malta the Netherlands Norway Slovenia Sweden the UK
  2. This was taken from expat tax, Australian Taxation Service What exactly is a foreign buyer? Before we delve into what the recent stamp duty surcharge means for foreign purchases in Queensland, we should clearly define the term “foreign buyer”. Before you decide to purchase a property in Queensland, you must determine whether you are, in fact, a foreign buyer. In regard to property acquisition, a foreign buyer is defined as: “an individual who is not ordinarily an Australian resident.” In accordance with this definition, a foreign person will only be considered an “ordinarily Australian resident” if the following conditions are met: You have resided in Australia for at least 200 days of the last 12 months; and Your time spent in Australia is (or was) not contingent upon any time-related limitation, such as those imposed by law.
  3. We found things like the amount of electric sockets included was not enough for us. We had a meeting for electrics (and tiling and kitchen) and what was included was absolute basics. For instance no outside lights, one double socket per bedroom, basic bathroom fittings, no fans in any of the rooms. Although you can live with what is included in their basic package, we felt disappointed at the quality. You quickly realise it's why you're invited to showrooms for meetings. What's offered against what you can have for an upgrade. Garden fencing, although halved with neighbour, is an added cost. Don't be fooled with the show house , everything and I mean everything will be an upgrade. Make sure you're happy before signing the contract, every change you make will cost between 500 and 1000 administration charge. Good luck, it will be worth it in the end.
  4. Permission to work "When your bridging visa (class WA) is in effect, you will have full permission to work." This is taken from my 804 bridging visa
  5. And make sure you're 100% sure of your choices as any changes to tile selections, colour selections or plans etc results in a hefty charge of anything from 500 to 1000 dollars.
  6. I'm not an expert but didn't the rule change last year for 18 - 21 year olds and housing benefit. The understanding was that they were "expected" to stay at home and couldn't decide to move out and receive help with rent unless there was mitigating circumstances.
  7. I should have added from Melbourne where they landed.
  8. My daughter shipped both cats with Pet Air from Scotland to eventually Brisbane. She has nothing but highest praise from the time they were picked up (in a larger double cage) to when she picked them up at Brisbane airport. They even organised the flight, after the short quarantine period, to Brisbane.
  9. Can thoroughly recommend Moneycorp. We've used their service several times over the past few months and found them professional, efficient with excellent rates.
