80-100 people gaining citizenship from what I've read, but not sure how reliable is the source (another forum). It also said the backlog was currently about 400 people (but I suspect it has gotten worse with all the new approvals in the last couple of months, so hard to say).

What I know is there has been 3 ceremonies since my approval (including the September one which I'm sure I'm not on the list), and no news from Council. Soon my waiting time from approval to ceremony is going to be longer than from lodgement to approval 🙂

Did you not find a sooner date for your test date?

I am keeping a look out but nothing earlier yet.

how long did you wait between doing your test and getting approval?

Every second Tuesday of the month, apparently. And up to 100 people per ceremony from what I have read somewhere else.

Really, that many? Woah. I thought maybe 3-4 per year! So 12 per year?

100 people in attendance or 100 people gaining citizenship do you think? 100 people gaining citizenship in moreland every month weeks seems a lot!

    Hi. Guys. I new here.

I can see the official time frame 18~20months.

However, I want to know what's actual average period to get AUS citizenship(approved)?

    Thanks

    Hey!

Unfortunately that's very difficult to say.

You could refer to the 'sharemytimeline' website, here: http://sharemytimeline.info/

But in all honesty, that's user-generated data, no one really knows it's accuracy.

You'll see cases on the forum here of people waiting 1.5-2 years with no test appointment, then on the other hand people who have had test and approval within 4-6 months. There's not a lot of trends to pull from, it's very hard if not impossible to predict a time frame based on your specific application unfortunately.

    All the best!

Yeah so keen to get mine. Ive waited enough over the years! Sam as you - working hol, 457, work transfer, 457, 186, CITIZENSHIP.

Same ANZCO too ha. You in Melbourne again I cant remember?

Melbourne yeah! Have we got an identical immigration history? haha. Must be similar dates too.

Awesome mate. Moving quick that hey! Think we are owed it after the PR debacle! Hoping mine comes through soon. Its like our visa lives are in sync haha!

    Yeah definitely quicker than expected!

When the change to immigration bill was announced i panicked and wished i could have submitted for citizenship back then, now i'm glad i couldn't in a way... unfortunate for so many people here waiting that the influx of applications have just gotten stuck.

If you only applied this year then your citizenship certainly won’t be complete by December. No chance

I know it's frustrating for the forum members here who have been waiting a very long time, but based on more recent timelines i would question there being no chance of a turnaround within a year. Unlikely, maybe.

  8. Think we've finally got our appointments in order.

    Me - 17th October
    OH - 24th October

OH needed one as late as possible in the afternoon, so probably not feasible to hold out for the same day. Happy that these aren't too long to wait now, and fairly close together.

Averaging 95-100% on the practice tests, itching to do it now!!!

My OH and I used one for AU Citizenship by Deedal. It was mostly okay but there were a couple of outdated answers (like population).
I listened to the YouTube videos whilst working...I like the passive absorption emoji23.png
OH read the document a few times.
    We both got emoji817.png
It just depends what works for you

Also thanks for the tip on the app - already looks better than the ones i was trying before. Did the questions on your test end up reflecting the range in the app?

Youtube videos while working is a good idea! I'll give that a go. It's the political stuff I find hard to retain, everything else is fine without revision tbh!

Yes, keep checking everyday, I managed to move mine from November to June after 3 times! If you check often enough, I'm pretty sure you can get a slot for the next few days!

I got my approval the week after (early July) and now waiting my ceremony invite with Moreland. Looks like it's a long wait at this Council, be prepared!

I was prepared for a lot longer than i've experienced so far.

Just now the calendar updated and there were 5 appointments in 2 weeks! haha. crazy. I opted for another than came up beginning over November though, i haven't done much revision of the material yet, 2 weeks is a bit quick! lol

Hi millski88. Great that you got your interview invitation!

There is absolutely no problem with how many times you reschedule, I moved mine three or four times.  Initial date was Feb 2020 so moved it month by month and then one last time so my wife and I had the test on the same day. The case officer didn't even mention it, I don't think they care about that.

Hope you can move your test sooner.

    Cheers!

Hey LAG. Just out of interest, when did your test email arrive and when did you end up having your test appointment? Interesting that my initial date was earlier than yours but you've already managed to get it ticked off! the waiting times must fluctuate a lot depending on the office i suppose.

Nice. I managed to move mine about 3 weeks forward this morning to mid-december. I will keep alternating between mine and my partners!

Congrats!! Yes as I understand it you can keep rescheduling to earlier dates as they become available as this has been done by numerous other applicants in another forum. That gives me a bit of hope as I applied June 30 this year...hopefully my test may come through in a few weeks. What region are you applying from again? BTW supposedly the best time to check for earlier dates is early morning and late evening.

Nice! Thanks for the info. I did see a couple of appointments come up this afternoon but didn't grab one yet. Will keep checking.

I'm in Moreland Council area (Melbourne). My partner got hers too, appointment 20 mins after on the same day.

    Tom.
