  1. Hi, I am wondering whether the new training levy cost will be applied to existing 457 holders. I've recently been granted for 4 years after the changes, just want to keep my employer in loop of the situation. Thanks.

  3. I applied onshore. I am from low risk country (singapore) but I've done medicals. I was previously on 485 that will expire on 8th May (457 came 3 days before that). I think it is essential for you to submit whatever documents you have. My company did Labor Market testing even though my occupation is exempted as it is the first time they are sponsoring. I also attached my ACS skills assessment which was taken a few months ago. As long as they have all information, they will not delay it. Just make sure at the time you lodge, you have bought medical insurance. I was changing provider in the midst of the application therefore I had attached 2 insurance certificate, with no day breaks between them. I've also sent an email to 457 after the new changes announced and they had replied that I will not be affected and I am still in the queue to be allocated/processed. Hope it helps. Good luck!
  4. Hi, The new rules have not take effect, other than the changes in occupation lists. I applied under Developer Programmer, granted with 4 years (still under the old 457 rules I guess).

  6. Hi all, I have been working in a company, which is a big construction franchise with 30+ employees in head office and 80 franchisees, for about 1 year 7 months. My company is keen on sponsoring me even though they have not done it before. My occupation is Analyst Programmer, in the IT department. Before I entered the company, there was 4 people in the IT department, however now there is only 2 (including me!) I have read online that the occupation has to be sort of related to the business?? I am wondering whether the application can be refused in this case? The company has also advertised the role on SEEK as we are looking to hire more people. In addition to that, I have also had skills assessment done after 1 year employment at the company. Do you think it will be useful in the nomination application? Really appreciate your reply. Thanks.

  8. Hi all, My current 485 visa will expire in May. I have been working for a company (a big construction franchise) since 25th August 2015 and they have decided to offer me a 457 (for the role Analyst Programmer), but they have never sponsored before. They have lodged the SPONSOR application by themselves on 21st Dec. The immigration requested for more information on 17th Feb and they have uploaded the documents on 23rd Feb. I would like to ask a couple questions: *1) How long will it take for a response regarding RFI?* From the auto reply it mentioned 28 working days, is there any situation where it can be longer? *2) How can the company expedite the process? Eg; apply for priority processing?* The company is currently shorthanded on staff (Initially team of 4, but now only 2 person in the IT department including me, both managers had resigned). They would like to give reasons as follow: The responsibility of the position is to analyse the business and providing critical information that helps to access the company's situation and ways to improve the company revenue in managerial perspective. They have also advertised the position and conducted interviews but there is no suitable candidates. *3) Do i need to do skills assessment again?* I have done skill assessment in August 2016, however that was for developer programmer, and I have recently been promoted to an analyst programmer role. Does the job title have to be the same as the the code in skill assessment? When I did the skill assessment in Aug 2016, I was employed as IT Application developer and it turned out fine with 1 year experience from ACS. *4) Can we apply for nomination and 457 Visa together? *As mentioned, my visa will be expiring soon and the company hope that i can continue to stay here instead of going back to my country, wait for the results and fly back. *5) What other evidence / attachment should the company prepare for the applications other than Job advertisement/interview results?* The immi website is not very clear about what attachments are required. It is just brief saying to provide evidence for LMT. Would appreciate if someone can tell me what exactly does the company need to upload to make sure they lodge a decision ready application.
