  1. would not be happy to fly until we have been vaccinated, don't know when that will happen here. Yes UK is improving but still a risk. Quarentine is also in place. Australia is a much safer place for a bit longer. If we could speak to someone about this it would help but as I said the phone line does not give any information of use.
  2. Hi Paul, yes we are currently in Australia, have been here almost two years.
  3. hi,We were granted a 600 visa last year which expires in May 2021, We are UK citizens and had already been on a 600 visa visiting our family, As the situation is not improving, wait for vaccinations and few flights available,we would like to extend this visa. We cannot find any information, the phone line is of no use,and a current email address for information seems unavailable. The last 600 we had we stayed for one year, departed the country for six months, then had another year. Do we have to apply and pay again for another 600 visa or can the six months off shore be waived? If someone else has been in this situation and can offer some advice would be grateful. We support ourselves, family are Australian citizens but we cannot apply for permenant migration as we do not meet the balance of family,Thanks.
  4. thanks, just trying to get some clarification on what we can legally do.it is a minefield and very unsettling.were told by department immigration we just had to leave country for few days and reapply.visa says cannot apply for substansive visa while onshore.
  5. thank you so much for clarifying this for me. I am not looking for a back door, way in. We would apply for parental visa if we met the requirements, don't meet the balance of family with three children and only one an Australian citizen. They are all in their40's,not dependant, so don't see why this condition. However,I don't make the rules. Our 600 visa is multiple en try and says 12months in 18months. does this apply from date granted or date validated, two months difference. The new visa,if it ever happens, is proposed to be ridiculously expensive and if you are here ten years does. not allow permenant residencyWe will check with department of immigration again but if we have to leave for six months unlikely we will apply for another year.frustrating.
  6. Hi all can anyone who has done this please help me with a few queries. We are currently in Australia for one year on a tourist visa 600. We would like to extend this and apply for a further twelve months. We understand that we have to be offshore to apply for this and have been advised to apply for visa while taking a holiday in another country. The visa is granted electronically and takes about a week normally. Is this visa only renewable once, meaning you cannot have more than two years running concurrently? Our daughter is an Australian citizen who has had major surgery and we have been here to offer help with the family. she may need further treatment, hence our reason to stay longer. We seem to get confusing information when we have contacted department of immigration, nothing is at all clear. If anyone has done this can you offer any advice? Many thanks.
  7. that is very useful to know. we are planning to put some things in storage originally but good to have a reccomendation.
  8. can anyone advise,if applying for visa class 600,stay for one year, when can you apply again and how long must you be out of the country before you can reapply?
  9. Thank you for the information. my daughter works for the health service and we will investigate all avenues when the time comes.
  10. Hi Amsaini15. This is an interesting point and will have to be clarified when terms of the visa are made clear. We do not meet the balance of family test, one child in Australia and two others in UK.Because of this we cannot apply for the parental visa, contributary or not. As it is a temporary visa, the new five year, and UK has a reciprocal deal with Australia, is it possible we may still be allowed to use that? The amount seems excessive, does anyone else have advice on this?
  11. IS THERE ANY UPDATE ON THE NEW PROPOSED PARENT VISA? Things seem to have gone quiet and we are eager to apply as soon as possible. We don't meet the balance of family, although our daughter has been ten years in Australia and her and her family are all citizens. This seems to be our only chance to be with our family.
  12. thanks for that. Problem with that is travelling every year and it gets harder the older you get.we are also looking at the new temporary parent visa, due to be law in July.
  13. hi all,new to this site. We have a daughter and Grandchildren in Queensland,Australian citizens, and want to move permenantly. At 63 and 67 we are too old for skilled occupations, although I am an Occupational Therapist and wonder if I can get a sponsored visa from Queensland health if I can get a job offer? Also we have three children and only one in Australia. The other two live in two different countries, one in Ireland, one in England. both in their forties non dependant. Does anyone know if we would be able to meet the balance of families test?We are very keen to move and would welcome any advice. many thanks Greensgran.
