1. Hi my wife stated at the time we would want PR and was assured there would not be an issue as long as she got registration and secured a job by age of 50.
 2. Thanks for all the comments... Looks like we have wasted money...
 3. My wife went through a nursing careers agent who advised getting registered with AHPRA first before looking to secure a job. We paid the money and my wife was excepted in principle by AHPRA pending she turn up with her identification and once confirmed will be given a registration number. The key issue is on the letter it states that my wife needs a job offer and local Australian address before she can be put on the register. The agent guaranteed registration with AHPRA do you think they have failed, when we questioned them they at first dismissed it but have looked into it and advised that we would not get a job offer unless registered so AHPRA are bonkers with this new rule. Due to my wife's age we are now unlikely to get permanent registration. Also they have said we need to secure a job and 457 before my wife reaches 50 which is in a few months so time is really against us. Any advice please on what to do. Do we have grounds for a refund? My wife feels very let down and despondent.
 4. Thanks so much for this info.... seems like a minefield.... Bungo, this is what someone sent us that was organising her AHPRA registration, but now it seems that we should have gone for PR first, and not AHPRA.... We have satisfied AHPRA with our English, but do we now need to do an ielts? Also she has been working as a nurse for over 5 years. 5. Hi George, Many thanks for the reply. I will send a message out to you. Regards Andy & Georgina
 6. Thanks for replying.... So can you please advise what is the best way forward and what is the best visa to apply for? AHPRA ready to go, and we would ideally like to go for PR, but she is 50 in May 2017 Thanks in advance
 7. Thank you for your comments and help so far.... So in a nutshell.... It seems that we should go for permanent residence? What would our chances be? Do we have enough time? before her 50th? Sorry for the questions, we are obviously feeling a bit lost and need help.... Andy & Georgina
 8. Good morning, My wife has been accepted by AHPRA in principle and has till November 2017 to attend in Australia with ID. Does she need to get this registration finalised before we can apply for a 457 visa? Can she start sending out CV's to various employers? Hope you can help Andy & Georgina
 9. Thank you for your response, and the information. Below is what they have sent us... We have not done IELTS, as all our notarised paperwork have satisfied AHPRA. Please can you have a look and advise if this is correct. The agent is NursingCareeers. In order to be considered eligible for PR you are required to meet immigration skill application points score of 60. According to the table below you currently have 25 points and maximum point only score 55 points. No further points are available. Due to age limitation I would suggest Independent PR is not available to you. You may be eligible for 457 visa and then possibly PR sponsored by employer before you turn 50 years of age.

Criteria Current Points Possible points Comments

Age under >45 Yr 0 0 No points after 45 yrs

English Criteria 0 May be eligible for 20 points if youscores IELTS 8.0 in each module.

Overseas Employment <5 years 5 10 ( upon completion of 5 years

Bachelor’s degree 15 15

State Sponsorship 5 10 ( only for 4 year temporary visa) To gain 10 points you need to gain employment in regional Australia

Partners skills 0 0 No points awarded over 50 yrs of age

TOTAL 25 55

In light of this it seems that the best option would be to arrange a trip to Australia ASAP to finalise your AHPRA registration and then seek a 457 sponsored job. It is possible that we may be able to assist you with this and find a sponsored job however it would be working in aged care. If we can do this it is still possible to apply for PR through the employer IF we apply before May. It does mean however that you would need to travel to where a 457 sponsored job is available.
 10. Hi, My wife and I are hoping to move to Australia, we have been using an agent for her Nursing details, and have been given 1 year for her to attend AHPRA in person with ID to collect her registration. The agent said we could go for permanent residence visa, but our ages are against us. She is 49, 50 in May 2017 I am 53. They said we should get over to Aus asap to collect registration and then go for a 457 visa. We are looking for help, in how to do this, and also if this is the best way forward, and would she need an offer of employment before her 50th to get the visa? Do we need to get the Registration from AHPRA before we can apply for a 457? Thanks for you help in advance. Andy & Georgina Barlow
