  1. Yes but on the link it is not clear weather i need roadworthy. Says if ive owned the vehicle less than 12 months it needs inspecting which is nonsense in my opinion it doesnt make sense. It came woth rwc and rego so it shouldnt need anything but a plate swap. Feel like im gonns end up havong to pay for rwc and rego which technically came with the car. If they are going to charge me to register the vehicle in WA withouth a straight swap with no fee then surely VIC roads should refund me what i have paid to be registered in there state. I landed in melbourne stayed 2 weeks bought a car and came to perth so ive paid 110 dollars to be registered in melbourne for 2 weeks.Maybe im been stupid im not sure im gonna have a really good read of everything on that link and see if i can make sense of it.
  2. At first i thought it was a case of go online prove your registered and road worthy in another state and simply order new plates...but its not like that at all it seems a pain in the ass so i was just gonna leave my vic plates on but finding out its illegal im gonna have to change them.
  3. Its so confusing...is there an equivalent of a vic roads in WA i can just go to and speak with someone? The car came with rwc in melbourne and registered so surely the vehicle cant need inspecting? I think im just gonna hunt for somewere to go and speak to someone in person.
  4. Hi all, i have moved from melbourne to perth WA. I have spoke to a few different people some say i need to swap the registration to WA and others say dont bother...if i swap the registration will i need to do another RWC? Is there a fee for swapping reg over? Thanks.
  5. Well there was just a problem with the server when i clicked buy online which made me phone up instead of doing an online purchase and when i explained to them i was from the uk on a working visa they said they would not insure me. When i asked her for advice on the phone she said i would just have to search as not all insurance companies will insure people on a working visa. I have insured the car for 800 dollars now after searching for a good few hours and going through multiple quotes. Thank you anyway
  6. Hey guys in need of some advice regarding car insurance...so at first i went on budget direct got a great quote at $393 dollars for a little 1.6 honda civic. When i went to follow through with they refused to insure me because i was from the uk on a working visa. When i searched for insurance on google for people with working visa's it come up with a few sites but the cheapest quote i can get is $1600! Does anyone know any good insurance companies? I cannot believe the insurance has multiplied by 4 because im on a working visa...id rather not insure at all than be ripped off like that....any advice?
  7. Thank you for replying so quick! so if I buy a vehicle with RWC I don't have to worry about renewing it until I come to sell the vehicle then? Wow I really misunderstood that eh! thanks very much guys you've really cleared that up for me I was under the assumption I had to pay annually for rwc:ssign7: once again thanks a lot.
  8. Hi all, My names jonjo im from the uk and i will be living in melbourne for the next 6 months and i am looking into buying a car i understand rego and the fact of registering a vehicle in my name. But i am very very confused with RWC because to my understanding there is a 30 day, 6 month and 12 month rwc and people selling cars dont really tell you which it comes with they just say for example 9 months rego and a valid roadworthy one guy told me it only lasts 30 days but wanted an extra $500 does that mean it will cost me $500 every 30 days for roadworthy? Ive tried to understand it but all im understanding at the moment is never buy a car without rwc as it can cost thousands of dollars. I just think 500 dollars every 30 days is extortionate to drive a vehicle! I assumed rwc was the uk equivalent of M.O.T but you pay that once every 12 months. Thanks.
