1. Maybe email them and see what they can offer you. 457@border.gov.au - they might be able to put it on hold until after baby is born.
2. Work for the remaining 10 months of your visa and then lodge a partner visa ... save very hard in that 10 months... or keep the bank account looking good with regular income and a job and they hand out creditcards like sweets over here..
3. A 457 is possible if you lodge the application now, this would need to be done properly so there are no possibilities of them requesting more info and delaying the application. If you are able to obtain a 417 WHV then why not go this route? and then apply for the 457 when you get here... A WHV will be granted winthin a few hours lol.
4. 1) This is at least a 3 month process that requires requires meeting certain training benchmarks. Don't even worry about any of the other steps until they are an approved business sponsor. 2) Its best to submit the nomination & visa application together at the same time. make sure they are decision ready so it stops any further delays. 3) Hold off on any medicals or police or medical insurance until its requested. - These are processed differently when uploaded so wont hold up the application too much when uploaded. (Well insurance I suppose you could provide at time of application depends if you want to pay it while not in aus if you are not currently here?) 3a) I am not sure about the IELTS side of things sorry. 4) Once the companies SBS have been approved and they have nominated you then yes you can apply for the visa with the corresponding TRN. 5) Currently its 35 days from lodgement of visa, decision ready is the key. Good Luck.
5. Hey mate, Why not keep your posts to one thread rather than starting another just a few hours apart, other people have already replied on your other thread and this pretty much relates to that.
6. I tend to agree with Bungo. I received a 12k credit card after 3 months of working on a WHV with wespac I'm now on a bridging visa and have a flexiloan with westpac I also have a st george visa credit card. All are being used in a way to hopefully build up my credit file so I could hopefully buy a house in the next year or so. PR is just as good as Citizenship. However with home loans this may be different.

Want to lose weight?

Hey guys, I would like to add my own personal experience with weight. I am overweight I'm quite broad so my ideal weight I believe would be a little higher than the "average" for my height, I'm 5'10 and I weigh 100kgs so that's about 15 stone. I love my food however I don't have a sweet tooth, thankfully otherwise I reckon I could add a few more kilios to that figure. Now I was very skinny as a young kid up until the age of around 13, didn't really get above 13 stone until the last few years. My weight gain was simply caused by depression, in 2013 MY stepdad died of cancer and a month later my mum committed suicide, she had a rough 3 years and just couldn't take life without him, anyway I was in the UK, just got back from travelling and after this happened, I found it hard to move on, I also had a very stressful job that I really hated but stuck it out because where I'm from "its a job mate" is better than health. Annnnyway... I've never been diagnosed with depression or had any counciling, I never visit a doc, think maybe once in the last 20 years. I deal with my own stuff. I know its not the right way but its how I deal with stuff. So in 2015 I decided I had to get away and came to Australia at the time it was my last chance to get a WHV so done it, secured a job and now going for sponsorship. However even after moving away and getting on with my life the depression was still there, I had no interest in anything except, work mon-fri get drunk Friday, be hungover sat and then sunday get ready for work again. This has made me gain the weight, I actually would feel sick of the thought of exercising and getting fitter, it was so much easier just eating and binge-drinking my life away. Depression sucks, However one day I woke up and just felt different, it was a couple of months ago I looked in the mirror and was disgusted of what I see, I actually laughed at the person looking back at me, The week after that I joined a gym, I stopped drinking (I don't think I have any kind of drink problem, I never drink at home and always sociable but always went too far) And I stopped eating all the takeways.. I still have a long way to go, I want to get down to a weight Ive probably never been before, I don't know what the number is, but when I look in the mirror I want to be happy with the reflection and I am in no rush, 2months 3 months 4 months, Ive abused my body for the last 5 years so I will give it as long as it takes to make it better. Since joining the gym, Ive been 6 days a week so far for 3 weeks, I do enjoy it I have very painful shin splints and a dodgy left knee so I use machines that I can use, I work pretty hard for that couple of hours every night and now on a no-carb detox for two weeks. Learning about how the body works and what foods to eat when is so much better. I believe people put on weight for many many different reasons, I do think some people are born with a fat gene, my friends baby grew into a fat child, however her other 2 children are skinny, I think there are many reasons and yes being lazy is probably one too. The advice from the original poster is good sound advice for losing weight coupled with exercise and drinking lots of H2o You will lose the weight, I do agree that you can eat whatever you want if you have balance of food and exercise however if you are currently overweight and just starting out like me, then cut them carbs off and start burning that fat... Good Luck, I will revisit this post in a few months ;O)
8. Well just in case anyone is sending anything, I use packandsend and have sent a few things from perth to melbourne and its been delivered 3-4 days. they use tnt and price is resonable
9. It doesn't look good I am afraid. It must of been something serious enough to be sentenced to 4 years, and in reality its still recent because the sentence 2007- 2011. It doesn't really he was let out after 2, still 4 year sentence. I hope a MA can offer some more advice and that serious ties to Aus can have a part to play. Good Luck
10. I don't think it will happen. If it did I doubt it would be any different to any other online store. I mean eBay offer %20 retailers throughout the year some real bargains sometimes like my TV ;-) I think for a online store to be successful in Oz they will need to be able to offer same day / next day delivery Aussie wide. If I want something I want it now, not in 7-14 days time and I am prepared ad accept to pay more for it... However I do love a bargain!

skt

Hi SKT, Well visa a nomination you say, so I guessing you mean a 457? If you do they are processing visa's lodged on 9th September - Your nomination may be holding it up. If you are waiting for a 457 and nomination has not yet been approved then I'd get your company to find out whats going on. If you dont mean a 457 then ignore this whole post lol
12. I done the SBS with my boss for a company whos turnover is around 4 million. at the time had 14 staff and a payroll of around $800k a year. So we had to find 8k a year in training and due to our business most of the training is offered free by the manufactures so It becomes hard to acheive this amount. I dont think sending staff on one /two day training really counts. Our first application was withdrawn when our new accountant who had previously done a sbs advised us that it was terrible and would decline. She resubmitted the application a few months later when we had taken on a traineeship sales person, their salary covered the whole training benchmark. My honest advise, I agree with Nemesis. Get a good MA for the SBS
13. Yea, i would get a MA if I intended to go this route. See how this weeks lotto goes.
14. Its an option. just bare in mind that you will need to be in a defacto relationship i.e shared bills, rent, accounts etc living life as if you were a married couple etc etc. and this needs to be for a full 12 months. Depending on what state you are going to, you may be able to register your relationship to remove the 12 month requirement. Also if you have been in a defacto relationship in the UK then this also can be used. However a girlfriend type relationship is not what a partner visa is for. The WHV is not strictly for this purpose but I'm sure you have do a bit of travelling over the year together to keep everyone happy...
15. Cheers Bungo, thats what i thought I read that the parent can sponsor. Also I read the temporary 173 visa for a newborn is $0 fee... Hmmmm... mindfield not as easy as the 457 lol.

Contributory Parent (Temporary) (Subclass 173) Applicant meets conditions defined in Note 19e 19e 19k nil N/A nil nil

19e This visa is for: an applicant who: or whose application is combined, or sought to be combined, with an application made by that person; made a valid application for a Parent (Migrant) (Class AX) visa before 27 June 2003; and withdrew that application at the same time as making the application for the Contributory Parent (Temporary) (Class UT) visa; [*]an applicant who is a contributory parent newborn child; or whose application is combined, or sought to be combined, with an application made by that person Confused.com
16. Cheers for the heads ups, Thats an expensive way to PR - Looks like I'll go the skills way.
17. Hi, So I'm currently going through the 457 visa process. However My ex partner has informed me shes pregnant, Shes advised its mine and shes having a baby girl, Although I wished the circumstances were different we are both happy to become parents, financially OK and apart from me not having PR / Citizenship quite settled in life. We are both in our 30's and hopefully mature enough to do it as separate parents. So the EX is born and bread Aussie citizen, I am a UK citizen waiting for my 457 to be granted. My question is, Once the baby is born being on a temporary visa (Me) that is dependant on my job isn't ideal, So had a quick look at immi website and wow, the visa's can get complicated for the parent visas. So the visa I have glanced at is a Contributory Parent (Migrant) (Subclass 143) (Its just me, no other children, no partner) So from the information I've given does anyone know the total cost and if this visa is the one I should be looking at? Only cost I can confidently see is the Assurance Bond of 10k - Ouch... Cheers Sammo. PLEASE IGNORE THE B IN THE TITLE AT THE END..
18. if you think you meet the criteria for a de facto visa then obviously they made the correct decision in refusing the visitor / tourist visa. I wouldn't attempt at another visitor visa tho.
19. The NHS rules have changed a great deal over the past year! It's no longer based on anything else other that being an ordinary resident, doent matter about anything else! The UK’s healthcare system is a residence based one. Free NHS treatment is provided on the basis of someone being ‘ordinarily resident’. It is not dependent upon nationality, payment of UK taxes, national insurance contributions, being registered with a GP, having an NHS number or owning property in the UK. 'Ordinary residence' should not be confused with terms such as usual, permanent or habitual residence. It has been considered in the courts to mean, “living lawfully in the United Kingdom, voluntarily and for settled purposes as part of the regular order of their life for the time being.” The concept of ‘settled purpose’ has been developed by the courts: “there must be an identifiable purpose for the residence here, there can be one purpose or several and it may be for a limited period. The purpose for living in the UK must have a sufficient degree of continuity to be properly described as 'settled'.” It is not necessary for a person to be living permanently or indefinitely in the UK to be deemed ordinarily resident. They can be ordinarily resident in two countries at once. They can be absent from the UK for a temporary or finite period and still be ordinarily resident here. There is no minimum period of residence that confers ordinarily resident status and ordinary residence can be of short or long duration. But it seems likely that in general, the longer someone is out of the UK, the more difficult it may be to establish OR status. Citizens who return to the UK on a settled basis will be classed as ordinarily resident, and will be eligible for free NHS care immediately.
20. Hey luke, When was the original expiry date of his visa? If the expiry date of the visa was before his refusal date the. He would most likely have been on a bridging visa and it wouldn't of had an expiry date until his new vis application was declined, thisnwould mean he would still be on a bridging visa and required to leave within the 28 days as already said. My only advise is he could possibly pay for a MRT and review the refusal visa this will give him more time to arrange his affairs before departing. It costs 1000 bucks and takes around a year to be given and outcome and could also be in his favour
21. Good bit of info here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-rules-to-improve-overseas-visitors-contributions-to-nhs-care The last bit is good news for your Husband but not so good for yourself.
22. Does your 417 expire before the 6 months is up? If so you will go onto a bridging visa and this will allow another 6 months with the same employer! If not the grant of the 6 month removal limitation will probably take longer than the visa application itself, so you may need to cease employment while its processed.
23. Wish I could quote my customers them sort of time frames lol.. Thanks for your response, I'll have to go to an office I suppose..
24. Hello, Subject pretty much says it all lol. Currently waiting for my 457 and need to travel end of month, Now BVB's can be logded online I was wondering if anyone has any recent exp of the timeframe ? Many Thanks Sam
