  1. Hi Guys, Wow some of you all have had some bad experiences with shipping!! I'd say having your own container, not a shared one, gives you more control over your goods. Taking more than 2 months from the UK I'd be worried, as a general rule it will depend on the shipping line you use. We have used MOL in the past from Southampton to Fremantle, total takes 35 days on the water, allowing a week at loading and another week to get thru Aus customs/Quarantine. If you are going to share a container, please please PLEASE use a reputable agent and get pricing door-door...some LCL unpack depots charge a mint in unpack fees. I've seen people send stuff with cheap ocean freight, when it gets to the unpack depot - thousands to unpack
  2. Hi guys, Yes unaccompanied personal effects can be tricky, usually via LCL would be best as it's the most economical for a pallet or two. For a suitcase, there are some couriers who still handle unaccompanied personal effects which I have used in the past...beats paying $25 a kilo for extra baggage at the airport! Where is the suitcase going to and from?
  3. Hi Glin, I'm thinking the tools will be heavy right? You are better off shipping in a part container as personal effects. If they are cleaned well enough without contamination they will be fine - they will be inspected though when you bring them in. Where are you bringing them from and to? Thanks -
  4. Hi all, Michael here, I've just joined this forum and we import many cars into Aus for our clients on carnets, as personal vehicles, in containers, on Roro vessels - you name it. It's not so bad and applying for an import is quite cheap...the only thing is waiting for Department of Transport to reply which can take 3-4 weeks. Beside the point, once your import permit is approved, we'd love to give you rates to import your vehicle. Any questions feel free to email me - Michael
