  1. Thanks all, appreciate the responses. I was aware that the PR was permanent now, but I wanted to make sure that there wasn't something else I should be aware of for later. Just a pretty crap scenario all round to be honest. cheers
  2. Hi all, I'm going through a very stressful time at the moment in my personal life when it should be a happy one. (Let's not talk about the global situation right now). So earlier this month, I was granted the second stage of my partner visa (801) and so I now have PR. My wife has then dropped the bombshell that she now wants a divorce. Obviously, its good that she has waited until after being granted PR which I believe means that our relationship status is now irrelevant for my remaining within Australia. Is that the case? Also, are there any other considerations I should be aware of? Cheers
  3. Hi all, My path so far has been an application for PMV when we were in the UK in March 2016, granted in October 2016. We then came over and got married in June 2017. We applied for the 801/820 in July 2017. The 820 was granted in December 2017. I was just looking for some advice please! I've received a message from Immi, saying that I can now upload documents for the next stage of the process; I've been trawling various places to find more information about what's needed for this aspect, is this essentially a full application all over again? My understanding from beforehand was that I'd already applied at the same time as the 820 but from the look of what I'm filling in on the immi website, it's asking all the same questions again. Do I need to attach loads of receipts and photos and personal statements all over again? I can't seem to find any checklists like I could when I applied in July 2017.
  4. Apologies, I don't think I was full clear. It would be myself who was getting the visa. She would be the sponsor and therefore potentially subject to the new rules? I assumed not as I'm here and already working anyway...wanted to check though.
  5. I've just seen this topic, is there any further news on it? I am applying for an 801/820 from a PMV subclass 300 next month after I get married on 25/06/2017. Will this affect me? I am earning significantly more than my partner who is a student and so she might not be eligible to be a partner, even though she was accepted previously?
  6. Hi, I moved to Australia (Adelaide) earlier on in the year on a Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300). We are getting married on 25/06/2017, later this month, and the visa expires on 28/07/2017 so we will have a month from the wedding to the expiry. Plenty of time for our Subclass 820/801 application however I had some questions about it all. Firstly, the documentation that I have to submit for this next application, is it the same as for the original one, passport photos, statutory declarations, birth certificates etc? Or do they hold things like copies of my passport on file etc and I only have to submit new evidence like the marriage certificate? Secondly, when we applied the first time, we did a paper application so had everything fully certified by a solicitor. I now have an ImmiAccount and it will obviously be a lot easier to apply online and submit all the evidence that way. Do we still need to supply certified copies? Or just colour scans? As to my mind all we would be supplying anyway is a colour scan of a certified copy! Or do we apply online and then send all the certified stuff through separately? I hope someone will have the answers because the immigration website is pretty muddy! Thank you!
  7. Hi all, I just had a few questions about the next steps for my visa applications. We have just been granted (within the last week) a prospective marriage visa (subclass 300) which expires on 26/07/2017. We have planned our wedding for 25/06/2017 so this will only give us approximately a month to apply for the next visa, the temporary/permanent partner visas (subclasses 820/801) which leads on o my questions. 1) What are the timescales for assessment and grant of the temporary partner visa? Is it days? and so I don't need to worry about it as long as I apply as soon as we have married and we will have it granted by the end of my PMV? 2) If the timescale is more like weeks or months, and so will likely be granted after the expiry of my PMV do I need to apply for a bridging visa? The border.gov.au website seems to suggest that a Bridging Visa A will automatically be granted on application of some substantive visas, but I can't find a list of what these visas are to check. Is this true? Or is is another bridging Visa and will I still be able to work? Thank you for helping!
  8. Good evening (morning to all current Poms in Aus!) I am totally new to this forum and I was looking for some help with my application. My fiance Cass and I are looking to apply for me to move over to Australia on the prospective marriage visa (subclass 300). I think we have got all the forms together, just waiting on some of Cass' family to send through their declarations etc about what a genuine and wonderful person I am . We are looking to apply as soon as possible and as far as possible, front load the application with all the documents that are required. We both have our police checks en route, lots of documents notarised and certified copies etc. The one niggly outstanding issue is the health check. I can't seem to find any information about where and who to go to to get this arranged and booked in. Is there anyone out there who might be able to send me some information about where to go/how to do it? Or do I have to wait until I have actually lodged the application to get it sorted? Any other pointers, recommendations or pitfalls to avoid with the application process would be really appreciated too! Thanks a lot in advance!
