Hi Rachielle,

Good day to you.

Hope this message finds you well.

Been reading this forum and would like to ask about your 457 visa process. I am a dependent on a 573 Student visa and my employer is sponsoring me a 457 visa. Since we already have an insurance for our student visa (coverage is 2 years) - did they still require you to get a visitor health insurance or you use the one you had under student coverage?

Your response is greatly appreciated.

 2. Yes very excited to work full time now. Looks like the email that my MA and I sent last week worked! Good thing when I called the DIBP hotline, the officer I was talking to was very helpful and even gave me his name and reference number to send along with the email. Maybe the 457 team is slightly getting it together. Keep the dream alive people. It will come soon!
 3. Got my visa granted today!! Thank you Lord!! Timeline: 18 December 2015 Nomination lodged 15 January 2016 Visa application lodged 24 February 2016 Nomination approved 11 April 2016 457 Visa granted!!! No correspondence from acknowledgement until today!! Goodluck to all the others who are waiting!!
 4. Same thing for me! Nothing since then. I pushed my MA to send an urgent email and will wait for their response til tomorrow if they accept it. That is as per the advice of the officer I've talked to in DIBP's hotline. Even the officer could not tell why is it taking so long considering my nomination has been approved and my occupation.
 5. My visa is already at 12 weeks from lodgement. Very frustrating!
 6. He didn't tell me anything like that. He just said that I should chase up my MA and that person can make an urgent email to the processing centre because at this point he does not know what is DIBP waiting for. I told him that is exactly how I'm feeling. If someone from their office does not know what's going on, how much more for me it's like I'm waiting for nothing.
 7. I've spoken with the department again and even the officer can't understand why my application is taking so long. Even he is puzzled what is the hold up. It is very frustrating because I have not heard anything from DIBP since the acknowledgement of my application last 15 Jan. I just don't know how they do the processing of applications. I think it's time get organised at least so the applicants know where they stand
 8. I applied through an MA but I have a copy of my visa acknowledgement so I can follow up. They will verify your identity before discussing anything anyway. The people i've talked to say diff things. Some says start counting from the nomination approval others say from lodgement. So i think no one really knows when. All we can do is helplessly wait...
 9. You can ring them. Just a wake up call for them that someone is actually waiting for that visa grant. Lol
 10. Yes that's right. No indication as to why there are delays. He just told me that it is still within the processing time. Took me an hour to get a hold of someone then talked to him for less than 5 mins. Lol
 11. I don't think they do priority processing. However when I called, he put me on hold for a a minute or two after validating my identity so I don't know what he actually did then got back to me with those info. That call was a bit different because before I was just immediately told to just wait for the visa as it is still within the processing timeframe. He said that if my visa doesn't come up by April 16 then he could escalate it. Whatever that means.
