  1. Good news Sara! And yes form 80 is required for the 143. Congrats on getting this far! cheers, Sue
  2. Hi Alan, have I used the wrong terminology? Sponsorship maybe? I really thought it was one and the same thing! I know we're all dabbling in the art and you're a master Happy to be corrected Changing the subject, I'm pretty sure I will be in touch at some point over Aus vs UK tax rules/laws re pensions. Discussed some time ago. Cheers, Sue
  3. Hi Sara, thank you! I'd suggest calling the AOS line at this stage as you've not heard anything for a month since your last com from them. The only additional documents I was requested to provide during the process was evidence of my relationship with my son - I provide a copy of his birth certificate and then later on evidence of Health Insurance. I found a lot of the HI Companies didn't know what I was talking about when I requested it be condition 8501 compliant, but I think you'll find the larger ones do. I went with BUPA in the end $150 a month for standard cover. They immediately provide you with a letter of evidence (quoting compliance to 8501) so that you can upload to your IMMI application. One day after their receipt of that I was granted my visa. The number my son used to call the AOS agents when there was a delay was 1800571922. Once he knew what they needed, he was able to provide the info and following receipt of that he was granted approval. Congratulations on your pregnancy and wish the best of luck in getting your mum n dad over in time for them to be of use to you!! Cheers, Sue
  4. You should be able to see my signature, if you're on the website and not just looking at the email notications. I applied for the visa on 6th August so it's been 6 weeks today so far. But had I had the right type of insurance sorted out I think I may have been granted it today. So 6 weeks really. For the Visa itself I understand you can complete most of the process on shore but you must actually apply off shore unless you have special circumstances- and I don't know what they may be. I actually made my submission on the morning of the day I flew to Australia. I don't think it matters where you are when your sponsor makes their application, but you need that granted before you can apply for the visa.
  5. Sorry Shane2019 I was talking about the 870 - it just seems to me that the requirements for the 870 and almost the same as for the 143. Sue
  6. A question please for anyone already having been granted their 870 Visa: I have been asked to provide evidence of Health Insurance sufficient to cover condition 8501. I thought I was able to do so so uploaded my policy details and it transpired that my insurance isn't adequate! I am now on the look out for a reasonably priced Health Insurance that is. Can anyone advise please? I have contacted HCF, HBF & Allianz so far but looked online at others - as the Visa is a new subclass it seems that some of the insurance companies aren't set up for this yet. That or the agents aren't yet up to speed. Waiting on a call back from Medbank and will call BUPA tomorrow. Thanks for any advice in advance. Sue
  7. You have your answer now Shane2019? It's really all but the 143!!
  8. Hi Anks, I don't believe there's any reason not to be viable. I have done just that. I am just waiting on a decision as I have had my medical and the result should be with IMMI by now.
  9. I didn't know for definite that a medical was a necessity either, but it was requested. Although I found out I needed to have one by nosing around online in my IMMI account, I actually received an email asking for further information yesterday. Fortunate that I'd already gone ahead and booked an appt and actually had it today. I was told to have a Medical ( eyes, ears, tummy feel, under arms, neck, mouth, pressure against limbs (push / pull against docs arms), height, weight, BP, water and blood tests) Chest X-ray and HIV test. There was some doubt as to whether the HIV test was required for the 870 visa, but I opted to go ahead rather than prolong any response from IMMI. Regarding your AOS application, I would get in touch with them as my son needed to provide additional information when he called to find out what the delay with his application was. I'm not sure how much longer it would have been before they actually got around to telling him. Somewhere I read that applications should be responded to within 8 weeks and I think we had ours approved about the 10 week point after chasing it up. Good luck, Sue
  10. Hi AMP, I have not long had my Australian Police check back. What I did was put down any addresses I've lived at over the last 10 years, I can't remember how it was asked for now as I've filled so many forms in recently - form 80 online and hard copy and also UK Police check. My addresses have been temporary over the last 2 years too as I have been visiting Australia on a 600 visa and had already sold up in UK in anticipation. I've stayed at my sister's home for the most part of any UK stay so I've used her address as my most recent UK address. I don't think it matters that they are temporary addresses, just addresses that we have lived at. The Australian Police Check I had posted to my sons address in Aus so that he could make a soft copy of it and I could upload it on my IMMI account quicker than having it posted to me in the UK. I guess it depends on what's most convenient for you at the time. Good luck, Sue
  11. Yes, thanks TinaD. Once I had my police checks back I was able to upload as required. I then finalised my application and submitted it. Only by chance then on nosing around on IMMI and in my IMMI account a few days later I found a message informing me I need to organise a medical. I have now done so and have an appt here in Australia on Thursday. Hoping that once that is completed and reported back that I get my visa granted. I'll update as soon as!
  12. I don't recall the previous post I got it from, but I made a note of it at the time, just in case. 1800571922. Good luck.
  13. I would suggest contacting the AOS team if they take longer than 8 weeks to reply as my son called at the 10 week point only to be told that they needed more information on his whereabouts over the last 10 years. It was easily responded to but the fact was that the team had made no attempt to tell my son there was anything wrong and I wonder how long they would have left it before letting us know. Also, with reference to the number of AOS applications vs the number of Visa applications, you cant start an application for the visa until you have an AOS granted. Which is a shame as the amount of information required is the same as for a permanent visa! You can of course gather that info offline in advance and I would recommend doing that. Ref the police checks/certificates, I would go ahead with them personally as although they are only valid for 12 months, the processing for this visa I'm sure wont take that long. I made the mistake of not doing them in advance and am now just waiting on receipt of them in order to complete my application! Good luck to all.
  14. Can you confirm how you were notified of the Sponsorship approval please TinaD, unless the request for the birth certificate was for your sponsor and not yourself? My son put his application in on 21st May, paid the fee and we've heard nothing since. I'm hoping we haven't missed the boat!
  15. Is there a thread for the 870 temp sponsored visa does anyone know? Thanks.
  16. Does anyone understand what the relationship is between the 'New Temporary Parent Visa's (3/5 year)' and the bill still sitting in parliament? I'm not sure I've ever seen an explanation if there is one!
  17. I think it would be nice if this forum remained as it should be, for help, guidance and support, and not judgement. No one knows everyone’s circumstances and rules are set by the immigration department.
  18. Thanks Kathss56, I've written an email to the FIRB, once back in November and again on the advice of an FIRB agent, neither have been responded to. I'm going to call again and see what they have to say. Meanwhile calling anyone knowing a good solicitor in WA! I am awaiting a call back from one on Monday, but it wouldn't hurt to have a couple of names in the bag.
  19. Yes we can buy a new build, just don't want one. In the meantime we are squashed in with my son, wife and grandson, which has been a breeze so far, but other half arrives at the end of Jan for 8 weeks....I think it's going to be interesting then!!!
  20. I've done the same AMP and our stuff is on its way. I chose a long journey to save on storage as I've nowhere to put it until we either rent of buy! I've not seen my stuff (bar in storage) for over a year now! We don't want to rent and still have a problem with buying an established property. If anyone has any experiences to share I'd be grateful!
  21. Thanks Kathss56. I looked to check on the .gov website and the information is unavailable currently....I wonder if that's ominous!
  22. Does anyone know the current cost of the 2nd VAC in AUD please?
  23. On it about an hour ago! I'm exchanging in dribs and drabs to spread the risk, so far I've managed to hit the peaks or thereabouts. Too much time on my hands! Any news on the visa yet?!
  24. Haha! That resonates with both me and my other half!!! Only I reckon I check Xe about 12 times a day! We're not too far apart Kathss56 and going to Perth too. Did I ask you where you were looking? Memory is terrible. We're off to Ellenbrook in December.
