  1. I'd definitely recommend them, plenty of info. Answered all my questions, passed me onto an migration agent who gave me the details I needed. I will be using them, however my situation is probably different to yours, but I'm trying to find an employer in Aus that's willing to sponsor me. Once I've got this I can get all my paperwork sorted with DUC. The email correspondence I've received has all been FOC, and a couple of phone calls too. All worth it just for the knowledge. If you do with them, they do charge extra to be part of some special forum or something or other. From what I understand this isn't really needed, as you can get that information through your agent or on here. So not really needed.
  2. Update. I'm going to be sticking with the Down Under Centre, had a decent phone call with them last night. So the option which I'm going to attempt is, once I have my Motorcycle Mechanic Level 3 qualification in my hand. I can get an employer to sponsor me (I have a couple of options) then I can earn my experience in Oz, after the 3rd year of experience I can apply for the skills assessment and then apply for state nomination in SA. So with any luck I shall get to Oz one way or another. Thank you for all the feedback.
  3. Ok, so with a 491 visa in SA. Which is where I'll be going an staying. I have family support and potentially backing from an employer, I'm due to finish my Level 3 Motorcycle Mechanics NVQ here in the UK and should be equivalent in Oz, within the next few months. As stated previously I have the experience but before the qualification. So with the backing from family & potentially employer, and the qualification I need. I still have to wait a further 3 years until I've got the experience after the qualification. So in 3 years Motorcycle Mechanic might not even be on the skills list, as it's flagged to be potentially removed this March. This is really frustrating. Even my Mum (an Oz resident) is doing her nut of how complicated this all is. Thanks for all the comments & feedback so far guys really appreciate it.
  4. So, after emails back and forwards with the Down Under Centre. I'll be on the phone to them in the coming days. We are looking at the possibility of a 489 visa. But this is a temporary visa from my understanding. Can I turn this into a permanent visa? As once I'm in Oz I'll be staying am won't be coming back to the UK, only time I'll be back is to visit.
  5. Does anyone know where it states that I need the experience AFTER the qualification? I can't find anything anywhere to that fact? I have the experience but before the qualification and during the qualification. I can't do the working holiday visa as I'm now 34. So too old for that. When I said going round in circles I meant I wasn't getting answers from companies to my questions. And they wanted a load of money before they'd talk to me properly. However I'm talking to The Down Under Centre, and so far they have been really good with answering my questions.
  6. Hi All, I plan to move to South Australia as soon as possible, but I've been searching for a Migration agent that doesn't rip me off, I expect to pay don't get me wrong. I also need someone/company that will actually reply to emails. I'm a Motorcycle Mechanic with 5 years experience, and due to be finishing Level 3 qualification no later than June this year. My mother lives in SA an has been an Oz resident for a number of years. Who do people recommend for Migration agents? As I seem to be going round in circles. Many Thanks Rob
  7. Ah nice one I'll look into it. I'm not really a Harley fan though. My mum has built a house next to the Murray. So I'll be there, think it might be Wellington East? But could be totally wrong
  8. Ha, helps if I look around doesn't it? lol
  9. Hi All, I'm looking to be moving 5km away from Taelim Bend next year, just wondering if there is any of you with a motorbike? The new motorsport park looks to be amazing for bikers. What bikes have you got? And are there any clubs or forums or anything like there is in the UK? Or weekly meets in or around in the Adelaide Hills? Current bikes are: 2004 Aprilia Tuono 1000 (The weekend best bike) 2001 Yamaha FZS600 Fazer (The everyday commuter) 1998 Honda CB500 (The Track bike) In Oz when I get there, I'll probably be going straight down to the Yam dealers to get myself a MT-09 Tracer.
  10. They are, so just a waiting game now to see what they say.
  11. The lawyer is a lawyer & also a migration agent. So they know their stuff. Ive been to Oz 5 times now, an pretty much loved it, only a few things I'm not keen on but the benefits out way it enough for me to put up with it.
  12. Currently waiting to hear from my mum's lawyer to see if there is a chance I could get a 457 without the qualifications. But we will see, all help much appreciated so far keep it coming. An to be honest I've had enough of the UK, for my own reasons that I wont go into. But I personally think its time for a new life away from everything.
  13. My mum is contacted her people and a visa specialist in Adelaide an going to find the best option.
  14. My mum lives in Australia but my dad lives in the UK, they separated a long time ago. So that visa wouldn't work and I'm not waiting that many years.
  15. The equivalent qualification is a NVQ and its a 4 year part time 2 part course. An things can change in 4 years, wanted to see if their was any option for a visa without the qualification and where real world experience would count enough.
  16. If I secured a job I could apply for a employer sponsored visa after the working holiday visa.
  17. I can apply for a working visa whilst I'm 30 as long as I enter oz before I'm 31, which is next July. But I wont be eligible for the 2nd year.
  18. Ok, so what if I did a 1 working visa then applied for another visa whilst there? That an option & what visa would I apply for?
  19. Thanks for the replies. Motorcycle mechanic is listed as a occupation both on SOL & CSOL. Do I still qualify for a visa if I have been working as a motorcycle mechanic for 3 years but without any qualifications? An my mum knows the 2 local dealers quite well so she can try & get help from there to fulfil any visa requirements.
  20. Hi all, New to forum so hello. I've been using the site for a while for information, so no doubt my questions have been asked before but my circumstances differ from everyone else. So basically I want to move to Oz, I've done the online assessments etc, all seems ok but it doesn't answer if I can actually get a visa or not. So my situation, I'm 31, too old to do the 2 year working visa. My mother & step dad live about an hour away from Adelaide on a plot of land and built a house, they are both now Australian residents. I work as a motorcycle mechanic in England and have done for 3 years but I don't have the qualifications that are required. I am a certified Motorcycle MOT tester, and I also have a degree in Journalism. But I want to stay in as a bike mechanic. Ive contacted 1st contact, but they have not come back to me with an appropriate option, they said I can still go on a 1 year working visa and then apply for another visa whilst there, but that would cost me an astronomical amount. I can possibly have a job offer as well. If it is required my mum can get me a job. So is there an option for me that doesn't cost the earth? So I've got parental support, 3 years of experience in the required field of work I want, I'm a UK resident since birth so my English is good, I have no ties to the UK, no kids etc. The only thing I don't have is a motorcycle mechanic qualification but is experience enough? I want to move as soon as I can but I don't want to do a college course in mechanics that would take a further 3 years. Ive had enough of the UK, and want out!
